WHO: The S!Renju Boss Team (Keiichi, Yoshimi, Tom, Masami)
WHAT: Coffee, tea, and trauma. Lots of trauma.
WHERE: Cafe near school. It exists, don't worry.
WHEN: Pre-Obon
WHY: Trauma. Yeah.

As per usual when it came to meeting classmates, Keiichi was early, by about five minutes or so. He had managed to procure a decent sized table, and was sipping away at a coffee that had about a half cup of milk and several tablespoons of sugar in it, as such was the only way he could stomach the stuff.

He didn't exactly know what he'd say once everyone arrived, or what they'd have to say. His bravery was a shield, that much was...probably somewhat obvious. Even if it wasn't, he imagined the experience they'd shared was the sort of thing that would let them speak freely about the entire thing. Closure was too much to hope for, but...

Considering he'd had two near death experiences in a very short period of time, and two more in the months before that, Keiichi was rapidly wondering if his number was going to come up. Coming within moments of being a frozen pile of innard shards had a tendency to do that.

Sighing, Keiichi sipped at his "coffee," and waited to see who would be first to arrive.

Masami walked into the cafe and looked around. It was only a moment before she spotted Keiichi, so she greeted him with a nod and a slight wave of her hand before heading to the counter to order herself some... actually, not tea for once, but rather an iced mocha. If she wanted tea, she had plenty of it, and the cafe's selection of tea was sadly somewhat limited. Besides, something cold would be nice to counter the summer heat.

After receiving her iced coffee, she made her way to the table where Keiichi was and took a seat across from him. "Good afternoon, Ito-san," she said with another nod.

Yoshimi sprinted in, looking around frantically for her teammates. She'd missed the bus, so she was going to be late, so the group was going to get bored of waiting and go somewhere else without her, so she'd have to write another formal apology for ruining the meeting, and she'd mess that up again, and—

Her thoughts slowed down and became a good deal more reasonable once she finally spotted a clock hanging on the far wall. She was right on time? She was right on time. Always a pleasant surprise. And a quick scan of the tables proved that others had not, in fact, up and left her. Yoshimi took a moment to calm down and brush her disheveled bangs back into place before ordering the cafe's special of the month, some pretentious-sounding smoothie that she chose just because she'd never tried it before.

Drink in hand, she made her way over to the table where Keiichi and Masami were already seated, trying not to think too hard about what they were here to discuss (and, for the most part, succeeding in this endeavor). "Hi, both of you!" she greeted, smiling brightly. It seemed that she'd regained some, if not all, of her usual spirit. "Any word on whether Sagaki-senpai's coming?"

"Hello, Sakuraba-san," Keiichi replied, trying not to goggle at the fact that Masami had gotten a...gasp, MOCHA instead of her usual tea. "How are things?"

He hadn't gotten far into the conversation when Tachibana-san made her way into the cafe, seemingly out of breath. Keiichi chuckled a bit, and continued to make small talk with Masami as they waited for their harried teammate.

Once she returned to the table, drink in hand, he nodded politely to her. "Greetings!" Her question made him think for a moment, before the rather honest reply. "He hasn't told me, but he reads everything, so I can't imagine he wouldn't be here."

Tom slipped into the last available seat just after Yoshi sat down. In his hands was a travel cup, one obviously not from the coffee shop. He nodded to the group. Despite the summer heat, he still wore his suit jacket, and hat.

"Just wanted to make sure that none of you were followed, or were being watched." He nodded to the group. "Hello everyone Tachibana, I'm glad to see you out. I was worried about you."

"From the shadows, as always," Keiichi said, though he grinned as he said it. "Good to see you too. How's everyone holding up?"

"I've been... OK, I guess," Masami said just as she noticed a disheveled Yoshimi come in. She conversed for a very short time with Keiichi until the first-year came over.

"It's good to see you, Tachibana-san," she greeted with a nod. It was one thing after another though, and Tom almost immediately appeared and took a seat.

"Sagaki-senpai, wouldn't that make you the one who's following and watching us?" she joked, a smile on her face.

"Like I said, I've been OK, I think. Well... I've been training a lot, but... What about you? Your message seemed pretty..." Masami trailed off, not quite sure how to finish.

"I'm...fine, I suppose? By our standards, anyway."

Persona-user standard for fine tended to be several threshholds lower than such standards would be for most other people.

"I thought it would be good for us to talk, considering the particularly...traumatic nature of Sonozaki-san's segment of Paradise. Some members of this group have considerably more--" and here he looked at Tom, and nodded, as if to also indicate himself "--near death experiences than others. I wanted to make sure everyone was holding up, and perhaps to talk about it if we feel the need to."

Yoshimi just nodded at Tom as he sat down, hoping that the group could spend a little while making small talk before anyone brought up Paradise. No such luck.

"I'm, erm..." She shrugged. How could she describe her attempts at coping with the aftermath of their last battle, other than 'bad'?

"I wasn't expecting anything like what happened last time. I'd be lying if I said it didn't scare me."

Tom shrugged, he looked around the shop to see if anyone was listening before he spoke.

"It didn't seem that bad to me. But then... my shadow didn't use most of it's attacks. Especially the ones that would have instantly killed everyone when it could have. If you all hadn't gotten it to be... at war with itself it would have been a much harder fight." Tom's eyes drifted away from the group.

"... Mostly because I'd been compiling strategies against all of you." Then he looked back at them.

"...For your shaodws... just in case. I wanted us to be able to fight you. I wasn't expecting to get taken to Paradise, and so I never thought it'd be used against you all like that."

"I...am somehow not surprised by any of this in the least bit," Keiichi mused, looking at Tom, and sighing audibly.

Turning his gaze to Yoshimi, Keiichi nodded. "It...is rather frightening, yes. It's sort of the problem of not knowing what's in each other's heads. We've faced death before. We face it every single time we go in there. That just...made it rather explicit. Much more so than usual."

"...Sagaki-senpai..." Masami said with a sigh, "I... guess it's good that you want to be prepared and all but... Either way, haven't the shadows so far not even really fought like the actual people?"

She took a sip of her mocha. "I was a lot less bothered by the Shadow itself and more bothered that I wasn't strong enough to keep the situation from getting as bad as it did..."

"Fighting in there is a lot different from kendo, Sakuraba-san," Keiichi pointed out. "Hell, Reizo's supposed to be an excellent street fighter and his performance in Paradise is just as mixed as the rest of us. He was much more effective hitting me in the face than the shadows."

Keiichi nodded. Actual expertise fighting seemed to...change when using a magical head god.

"I imagine it's going to get harder from here," Keiichi observed. "They seem to be targeting the team as a whole. There are some members of the group whose shadows I..really don't think I want to take on."

"I hope it doesn't get harder from here." Yoshimi sighed. Talking about the previous battle was a downer, speculating about the ones to come was no better, and the smoothie that had seemed like such a great idea after running across town was suddenly far too cold for the topic at hand.

"Still, we don't have a choice, do we? It's that or turning our backs on people who need us." She didn't want to own up to how tempting it sounded, skipping town to wait out the whole thing in safety, leaving behind the battle scars and bloodstained clothes for someone else to handle. "And..."

She glanced around the table for reassurance. The other three weren't quitters, not the kendo champion or the gallant type with the shield or the comfortingly predictable Shadowknight-in-training; Yoshimi wouldn't be one either.

"And we'd never forgive ourselves for that, so the only way out is through."
