Who: Kanaye, Masaya, Misaki
What: Games!
When: Whenever.
Where: Arcade
Why: It's fun!

Kanaye waited. He seemed to be doing that a lot. Waiting for Kozue, waiting for his family, waiting for Maeko to like him again...He's been doing a lot of waiting. Kanaye got a lot of practice at it, after all. It's one of the few things he found himself good at. So when he found himself waiting outside of the arcade, he didn't really mind.

Kanaye didn't know Masaya all that much and he didn't get off on a very good start with Misaki, either. But that was in the past, right? No need to worry about what's in the past. He might get a few friends out of the deal!

Yeah. Right.

Kanaye waited.

Misaki poked him then in the chest, "We're sharing this time. Last time was me being nice. So how about we have something we can both afford humm?"

Misaki glanced over his shoulder and noticed some girls eyeing him. One giggled as the other walked over.

"Um...excuse me, but...er...could you help me win a prize please?" The girl asked Masaya.

"Ahh, fine," Masaya said in mock-exasperation. He pulled out his wallet again and checked its contents - the pictures, and then just enough money for a burger. "Fast food alright with you?"

"Yeah?" he said when the girl came up to him. Part of him was annoyed - couldn't she see he was kind of with somebody? - but the more rational side of him said, Misaki-san's not your girlfriend. Here's another girl that maybe you won't screw up getting to know. "Sure, I can do that. What do you want?"

The girl pointed to a basketball game in the corner, saying that she had been trying unsuccessfully to win one of those "adorable" mascot dolls whose name escaped him right then ("Blue Frost"? "Frosty Jack"?). He didn't really like those games, but he wasn't completely horrible at them, either, so he agreed to do it.

One failed basketball game later, the girl was pleading with him to try again, but he wasn't feeling it. "I really have to go..." he said, throwing a look over at Misaki that read Please send help.

Misaki could see that this wasn't going to be easy, she swallowed some and hurried over putting on her brightest smile, "Masa-kun! Masa-kun!"

She wrapped her arms around him and grinned brightly, "Toshi-chan, and the rest of the team is waiting for you! Come on, if we're not there on time she's going to be upset. We have to hurry!"

"Um who are you?" the girl asked curiously.

"ah...Oh I'm a friend, I'm sorry but he has to go now. Im sure you can catch him around here later," Misaki told her sweetly and pulled him as fast as she could. A part of her was just a bit jealous and outside she squeezed his arm just a bit.

"She was cute wasn't she..."

...Well, he hadn't been expecting that, but it didn't hurt to have her grabbing onto him and yelling, "Masa-kun," either.

"Oh, yeah, um...Toshi-chan and them. Gotta go, seeya!" he said quickly to the other girl, wanting to get away from her and the awkward situation as much as possible. He felt weird for just ditching her without even winning the prize, but oh well.

"She was alright," he replied casually. He didn't sense any double meaning behind Misaki's words, so he answered how he honestly felt.

"She seemed nice," she teased, "Maybe you should come back tomorrow see if she's here and win her that prize? I think she's a regular."

Misa let go of his arm and grinned, "So where do you want to go to eat? You said fast food right? We could try the MacDouglas, it's a few blocks down I think."

"What are you so excited about?" he said, raising an eyebrow at her. He wished she would let it drop already - she sounded just like his parents whenever he even mentioned a girl from school. So, when's the wedding? Blahblahblah...

"Sounds great." Without her holding his arm, he could pick up his pace, put a little distance between them. After the booth and everything...he didn't need any more confusing signals from her about where they stood.

"Ah, well, I just thought..." Misaki shook her head. "Sorry never mind. My fault, I made a bad assumption there."

"I haven't eaten there in a while," Misaki told him. "What are you doing for Obon by the way?"

He wondered if his remark had upset her at all, and bit the inside of his cheek. Well, he might suck at basketball, but he could always be counted on for one thing.

"Mmm, probably go to the festival, at least. Most of my dead relatives - except for my grandma on Dad's side - live somewhere else and aren't buried in Iburi, so I won't be doing a lot of grave cleaning. You?"

"Probably just my grandmother on my dad's side. My mom's mother lives in tokyo and my grandfather is buried there, so she's going down there to see her family with my dad. My brother and sister are cleaning graves. I'm supposed to help my brother with the flower shop." Misaki said and sighed.

"Not a fun job?" he asked, trying to get back onto friendlier ground with her. He felt awkward, but couldn't quite say why. Maybe his head was still funny from that kiss, or else he regretted snapping at her.

His stomach growled loudly and he looked down at it, surprised. He'd been sorta hungry in the aracde, but the Print Club booth and events after had pretty much made him forget everything about it, but now that he had nothing to focus on, he realized that he was starving. "Man, when I get there, I'm going to order the biggest combo..."

"Well it can be fun, but there's a lot of people that don't know what they want and they ask weird questions." Misaki explained and smiles gently. "It's fun after Obon. The weddings are a lot of fun."

She burst out lauging, "Seems you're hungry, and I'm just getting the chickin combo. you know hanging out with you is a lot of fun Masaya-san. I'm glad I bumped into you.'

"Sounds annoying. Then again, I'm not much for flowers, anyway." He shrugged.

"Eh...? You think so. Thanks...Misaki-san (it felt strange to say it out loud), I like hanging out with you, too."

Looking up, he realized they were almost upon MacDouglas. "Let's go eat!"
