Entry tags:kanaye, masaya, misaki

Who: Kanaye, Masaya, Misaki
What: Games!
When: Whenever.
Where: Arcade
Why: It's fun!

Kanaye waited. He seemed to be doing that a lot. Waiting for Kozue, waiting for his family, waiting for Maeko to like him again...He's been doing a lot of waiting. Kanaye got a lot of practice at it, after all. It's one of the few things he found himself good at. So when he found himself waiting outside of the arcade, he didn't really mind.

Kanaye didn't know Masaya all that much and he didn't get off on a very good start with Misaki, either. But that was in the past, right? No need to worry about what's in the past. He might get a few friends out of the deal!

Yeah. Right.

Kanaye waited.

"Scared you?" Masaya teased her when she yelped. Her diving save made him snort; he was trying to hold back his laughter for her sake, but she was making it hard.

"Sorry, we agreed that if I won this game I'd get what I want." And I intend on grabbing it. he thought to himself as he placed the puck on the table for what he hoped would be the last time, and sent it flying towards Misaki's goal.

Misaki steeled herself. She viewed the puck like it was a shadow, an enemy to not allow near her. Her hand tightened hard around the mallet, she wasn't going to go down like this. She wouldn't let that puck get past her.

"Suprised was more like," she admitted and Misaki nodded, "Yes I remember. I don't go back on my word in deals."

When the puck came flying she launched herself at the puck with as much power as she could. She felt her arm fly across the table and smash into the air jet. She was sure she had gotten it, but then felt something slip passed her arm and moved it fast, only to hit into the puck, sending it backwards into the goal.

She slumped across her side of the board when the lights flashed and the score was anouced, "Three goals...you win!"

"Ahhhh," Misaki sighed and pouted, "Drat. I thought for sure I had that last one."

Yet when she looked up she started to laugh, and held out her hand to him, "Good game Masaya-san. You won, and as promised I'll give you what you want. So what is it that you want to do."

"Yes!" Masaya exclaimed, pumping his fist in the air, but stopping short of the full victory dance.

He took her hand, shaking it deftly, "Nice try, though. And as for what I want..." He looked away, wondering if he should say it, before shaking his head. There was nothing wrong with it - especially since he didn't mean it as anything weird. She was just a friend and he wanted a picture with her. That was all.

"You have to get into the Print Club booth with me." He said it quickly, to get it over with.

"Wha..." Misaki gaped for a second, then paused and grinned happily.

"Sure I'd love to!"

She grabbed him by the arm and laughed as she walked towards the print club booth. "This should be fun. Why did you look nervous? We're friends right Masaya-san."

Masaya couldn't believe how well she'd taken it. She was excited to be around him? Him? Really?

He tried not to jump when she grabbed his arm and led him towards the Print Club booth. "Um, nothing, I just don't feel very well," he lied, trying to cover up how nervous he'd actually been. "Huh, friends? You think so? Well...yeah, I guess we are. That's why I want this picture with you." The only reason. Right.

He pulled back the curtain and slid into the booth, holding it open so Misaki could come in, too. He'd chosen the far side to avoid cramming Misaki too far into the booth. He didn't want to press against her any more than he had to in the small space; that could easily be taken the wrong way, and Misaki had said it herself that they were just friends, right?

"Yup. We're friends. I'm really glad I got to meet you! You're actually a lot of fun to be around Masaya-san. I don't know why you don't smile as much at school, you should really try to. It looks good on you." Misaki said cheerfully as she sat next to him.

She pulled the curtain closed and looked over the list of choices. "Lets take a bunch okay, so we can remember this day. We have to take some silly ones, just for fun."

"Heh. Yeah, we are friends. Thanks. Maybe if everyone else was less boring, I would smile at them more." He gave her a smirk. You're one of the few people who doesn't annoy me, Aoi-san.

"Definitely. Let's take enough to share between us." He pressed a button to flick through the choices before settling on a background that made them look like they were surrounded by kittens. "Let's do this one. Looks silly enough." And it's also kind of cute.

"People can be fun if you give them a chance you know. You just have to find a common thing," Misaki pointed out and winked. "Well try to okay. It'll be nice seeing you smile around school."

"Ah...Kitties, they're so cute! It's a good choice Masaya san!" Misaki grinned happily. She leaned in closer to him, "Ready say cheese!" And put up bunny ears behind him for the first shot.

"I'll keep that in mind," Masaya said, hoping that would end the discussion quickly. He didn't need anyone telling him what else he was doing wrong; he got that enough at home.

He smiled, but refused to say cheese, for the camera, and surprised himself by chuckling a little when their picture came up on the screen: both of them, leaning in together, grinning like idiots, with Misaki putting bunny ears up behind his head.

He liked this, he really did. It had been one of his smarter ideas to do this.

"Your turn to choose the next one, Aoi-san?" Aoi-san... Would she let him call her Misaki-san? No, that would be way too familiar too quickly, he reminded himself, wondering what he was doing getting so excited in the first place.

"Ah, okay," Misaki paused and blushed, "Oh...did I say to much with what I just said. Sorry...I'm trying to get better about that. I tend to want to help out, and over step my bounds. Sorry."

She looked through the choices and picked one that was one with silly glasses. "This one looks silly...Ah...it is okay to call you Masaya-san, right senpai? I should have asked you a while ago."

"This isn't a conversation I want to have," Masaya said, surprised at how harsh it sounded. Still, he was annoyed at the implication he was doing something wrong, and annoyed at himself for getting so touchy. "Relax, Aoi-san," he said, trying to be more gentle. "Just don't worry about me."

He blinked at the picture, the one that made them look like they were wearing crazy glasses. It looked almost...disconcerting to him, but he smiled for it anyway.

Misaki's question caught him off guard. Did he care? Not really. It was kind of nice to have somebody who felt close enough to him to call him by his given name, but at the same time, he felt confused. Like "What could she see in me?" confused.

"Uh, ah...I don't mind at all. But if you don't mind, I think I'm going to keep calling you Aoi-san." Stupid! She hadn't said anything about her name, why was he jumping to conclusions like a spaz? "...I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea, calling you by your name or anything..." he said in a weak attempt to justify it.

Misaki jumped some, then blinked a little nodding, "So-Sorry Masaya-san."

When the picture was done she looked at him seriously, "I want to worry about you. You're my friend, and I want to be able to worry about when my friends are hurt. I know it sounds silly but, I want to be here to cheer you up. Smiling...smiling helps, I've learned. Especially when you feel down, it helps to see a cheeful face. It eases things...Ah...I'm talking to much again."

Misaki blushed and motioned to him, and nodded. "I wouldn't mind you calling me Misaki-san, but I guess it's probably weird calling someone a year below you by their first name huh."

She smiled then, "You're choice of photo sempai."

Well, now he felt like crap. Was that all he was good at: pissing people off or upsetting them?

He was startled to hear her concerned words instead of sullen silence or a snappy remark. "Aoi-san..." He shook his head, unsure of how to put it. "You're something else." Don't care about me so much. I'm not worth the effort.

He looked through the photo selection - the green fields looked boring, and he definitely couldn't pick the heart - when he settled on the perfect one.

"This'll have to be our day at the beach instead," he said to her with a smirk as he grabbed her shoulder and pulled her further into the picture. On the screen, it looked as if they were on a seashore with the ocean behind them, a sandcastle in the corner.
