Who: Kanaye, Masaya, Misaki
What: Games!
When: Whenever.
Where: Arcade
Why: It's fun!

Kanaye waited. He seemed to be doing that a lot. Waiting for Kozue, waiting for his family, waiting for Maeko to like him again...He's been doing a lot of waiting. Kanaye got a lot of practice at it, after all. It's one of the few things he found himself good at. So when he found himself waiting outside of the arcade, he didn't really mind.

Kanaye didn't know Masaya all that much and he didn't get off on a very good start with Misaki, either. But that was in the past, right? No need to worry about what's in the past. He might get a few friends out of the deal!

Yeah. Right.

Kanaye waited.

"There's no telling what I'll do until the time comes," Masaya teased her back, giving her side a slight nudge with his elbow.

"No, trust me, you're both bound to be better than me. The last time I played a fighting game was in middle school." Baseball was a much more worthwhile pasttime, anyway. He walked up to the game and took a space beside Misaki, the pit of his stomach already tingling at the thought of making a huge spaz of himself in front of them. "I think we can take it together, right, Aoi-san? You wanna team up?" Please.

"Oh you're not scared of us are you Senpai?! Come on now, why do you want to go alone, it'll help with your team work," Misaki teased Kanaye as he walked over to the machine. She shrugged and giggled some when nudged.

"I'll keep that in mind Masaya-san," She grinned and nodded, "Right, well then lets make sure you have the higher health, okay? And sure We can always take down Senpai when he wants to come over and try his luck with us."

She was going to fight low, right now she didn't need him to think she was some sort of girl that spent hours trying to beat up random character in the game when bored.

"Nah, I'd rather be alone most of the time. I mean, you know what you're thinking, right? And you might mess up someone else's plans. It's a lot easier to just be alone." Kanaye decided this situation was uncomfortable and promptly got to choosing a character.

Upon deciding on the prettiest guy he could find, Kanaye got to playing. It was fun, he had to admit. He always enjoyed video games. And what better way to release stress?

Masaya understood exactly what Kanaye was saying - he'd rather be alone than with anyone, too. People were just...complicated. And annoying. Well, Aoi-san and Senpai weren't - yet - but...

To distract himself from the subject, he stared at the character selection screen, trying to find someone who looked strong and easy for a newbie to get the hang of, and eventually settled on a muscular fellow who looked like he would be good for a few power moves rather than intricate combinations. Masaya didn't have the patience for those; it was just better to drain the opponent's HP with a string powerful hits, he thought, even if it meant rushing blindly in or leaving yourself open in the process.

"Alright," he said, trying to sound more confident in his decision to play than he felt. "Let's go! What'll you do, Aoi-san?"

"Alright Sempai, your call," she said shrugging and then went after the fighter with a long reach and one you needed to use combinations to use. She didn't like powerful characters because they weren't fast and thus harder to dodge with.

She grinned at Masaya, "Ready! This should be lots of fun."

Kanaye was distracted. His mind kept drifting off to what he had said earlier. Did he really have to say that? Did he really? He doubted they'd notice that he actually meant what he said but it could never be sure. And there'd go any chance in hell of him actually making friends with them. Not like he needed them.

Smirking a bit, he made his character do a rather impressive combo. Blinking a bit, he attempted to replicate it but couldn't. Of course not.

"Watch my back, Aoi-san!" Masaya said a little too enthusiastically before sending his man running into the fray, making him grab Kanaye's character to attempt to pull off some impressive throw.

He was jamming buttons a little too hard, sure, but so far nothing was going wrong. He didn't know how long it could last, though.

"Sure thing," Misaki smiled and waited a bit before attacking the NPC with a flying kick, sending it into the air and excuting several swipes with her sword, knocking the female NPC back down to crash into the ground. She got out again and came after Misaki.

"Kanaye-sempai, do a semi-circle then hit the punch button rapidly to do that combo again," Misaki suggested.

Kanaye managed to make his character dodge Masaya's throw but only barely. "No worries, Misaki-san, I can do it by myself!" Nevertheless, he did, in fact, do a semicircle and hit the punch button rapidly. After nothing happened, he did a semicircle in the other direction. It worked, this time.

He moved his character to the back of the screen and waited for anyone to attack him.

"Damn!" Masaya swore out of reflex when Kanaye's character dodged his throw, jamming the punch button in frustration, as if that could magically make something happen.

He thrust the joystick too hard in his opponent's direction, making his guy plod - why was he so fucking slow? - in Kanaye's direction, determined that he wouldn't get away this time without taking some damage.

Misaki smiled some and nodded, then watched Masaya, and used one of her items on him to increase his speed. She lowered her voice some, "Joystick up and down rapidly once then hit the kick button, he'll charge, then hit him with a right that will send him into the air."

She looked over the stats on the characters as she had her character dealing with the NPC.

Kanaye smiled. This is the advantage to being fast. Kanaye dashed towards Masaya's character and used the combo that Misaki told him how to use in order to deal as much damage as possible. He was mashing buttons at this point but he didn't really care.

"Damn it!" Masaya found himself swearing again, already worked up, as Kanaye's man sent his halfway across the stage with his combination. The hit slivered off a quarter of Masaya's HP, and Masaya slammed the joystick back, trying to put some distance between him and Kanaye's characters.

He nodded at Misaki's advice, grateful for her speed boost that his guy sorely needed (stupid brawlers, all muscle and no agility), and attempted to do the move she'd told him.

But which was the kick button again? Fuck. He flicked the joystick back and forth as he pressed random combinations until he found the right one, and then smiled with anticipation, sending his guy charging across the stage towards Kanaye once more.

Kanaye was somewhat surprised, and his character paid for it. Flying back, he was growling at his hp bar, which had taken a rather sizable hit. The disadvantage to being weak...

Not to be outdone, Kanaye made his character flip up from the ground with a kick towards the giant guy.

Misaki just let her character sit back and watch them duke it out. It was kind of amusing in a way. She didn't want to attack either of them and had her character just dealing with the NPCs that came out.

"Careful Masaya," she said softly, "don't let him get to close."

She wondered if Kanaye had found the special combo that could happen if he hit up, down, and kick twice. It would let him hit Masaya's character in three pointsn that could make him dizzy.

Masaya already had his hands full trying to grapple with Kanaye, whose character just then struck him with a powerful kick that knocked even more HP off of his bar. He growled and slammed the joystick back, mashing buttons in order to get his guy to jump up.

Needless to say, Misaki's comment only served to piss him off.

"I can handle it myself!" he snapped, even though he knew it was unnecessary.

Kanaye just smirked and spammed random buttons. Was it cheap? Yes. Did he care? Not really. In order to do his requisite stupid thing for today, he decided to attack Misaki's character with a flying kick.

Misaki saw the attack comming and quickly hit a few buttons to counter. She flipped up, and her character slashed at Kanaye's character, she recoiled from where the hit landed, but the damage was less then what it could have been.

"Not bad," Misaki laughed and thought, for a guy that's just button mashing. I wonder what would happen if I used some actual combos on him. Would that be fair? No but still she wanted to show off just a little to Masaya. "But you still have a long way to go Senpai."

Kanaye smiled at Misaki. "Oh, you do too." At this point, he started attacking low, using a couple of special moves while he was at it.

He then switched to high moves, jumping a bit and attempting to kick Misaki's character in the face. All in all, it was rather interesting.

Misaki's eyes flashed for a second. Fine if that was the way he wanted it, she wouldn't hold back. Jumping back she flipped out of the way of the first attack, got hit by the second one, but shook off the dizzy affect. The low attacks suprised her some, since the character wasn't known for that sort of attacking scheme.

Misaki caught him on the attack to the face, using her character's sword as a means of defense to send him back with a counter then went on the offense by attacking with several slashes and used some of her collected energy to do a special combo that dealed many hits, if it landed on Kanaye's character.

Masaya blinked, seeing that his target had been taken from him by Misaki. He decided to remove himself from the fray for a moment by going after the NPC instead, leveling her with a satisfying punch-and-throw combo that he didn't know he knew how to do.

Things were looking better already.

"Take him out, Aoi-san!" he cheered.

Kanaye winced in sympathy. The attack hit Kanaye's character, and his health dropped to near zero. So he did what he did best.

He button mashed. And, in his random flailing, he managed to input the command for a special move that involved Kanaye's character attacking like a mad person.

Misaki threw up a barrier that got smashed as his character managed to batter her character back and throw her up into the air. Thankfully the button massing didn't give him a clear point of how to fly up to follow but still her HP was down to a slim margen which annoyed her some, after all there was an art to playing these games, and button mashing will take you so far.

"I'll do my best." Misaki intoned and decided, after her character landed to do a gambit and use an attack that, on the one hand could ulitmately destroy Kanaye's character, if he managed to counter, it would take her down as well.

"Person left standing gets to pick the next game." Misaki offered up with a grin as her character charged jup for her attack, and created a very large hexagram that floated in the air covering Kanaye's character and hers.

Masaya took out the female NPC, and then turned around to help Misaki with Kanaye, but then he saw she was handling it all by herself.

He decided to stay out of her way and cheer her on instead. "Kick some ass!"

Kanaye couldn't recognize what the attack was. But magic? Probably bad!

Kanaye proceeded to mash buttons like he never mashed before. He just hoped it was enough...
