Entry tags:maeko, seiko, tom

Who: Maeko, Seiko, Tom
What: Arcade
Where: Arcade
When: After drama.
Why: Tom needs to get out of his room. Maeko needs new birds. Seiko's just groovy like this.

Maeko played with her phone as she waited for Seiko and Tom to show up. Her expression hardenned for a second as she replied to her latest message (had she not made it abundantly clear that she did not want to talk? For seemingly wanting to make up Misaki was still apparently reluctant to listen to anyone else) but softenned again as she started failing at guiding a snake around the screen.

She looked up after the third time the stupid reptile chewed on its own tail (why could it not just slither over itself?). And smiled.

"Ah, you're here! Hi!"

"Maeko-san!" Seiko called walking over with her usual bouncing gait, she wasn't one to sneak around.

"Is Sagaki-san here yet?-" Seiko glanced at the game Maeko was playing. "Ahh I'm no good at that one, but it is still fun right?" she said enthusiastically peering over Maeko's shoulder.

She was dressed simply in jeans and a shirt with her hair tied back, she looked older than she did at school but still had a wide grin, and the fact she was now giving a corny thumbs up also ruined the effect.

"Hey, Yukizaki-chan!" Maeko waved with the hand that was not keeping the stupid snake from eating itself.

Not like the other hand was doing a good job of that either. It was like the dumb snake was suicidal. What kind of idiot didn't think to stop if for whatever reason they couldn't aviod biting themself? "Sagaki's not here yet. He said he'd show up, though."

"I like the snake! And the apples are cool!" Maeko said, nodding. "But it keeps dying.

"I hope he will turn up, everyone needs to get out and have some fun no matter what is happening." Seiko said innocently, but with a slight implication that it was good Maeko was out and having fun in spite of everything.

"I like the snake, its cute, but why does it eat itself?" Seiko puzzled staring at the screen again almost hypnotised, "Aiii Maeko-san you are better than me though."

Tom noticed the two women rather quickly. It was hard not to with Seiko's blonde hair.

He stepped out of the crowd, and approchaed them, bowing to both in turn, first Seiko, then Maeko.

"Yukizaki-san, Akuba-san. So what's up?"

"I don't know. It's the dumbest snake ever or something." Maeko said, apparently carefully avoiding the apples and guiding the snake into its own midsection once again.

"Ah! Sagaki!" She flipped her phone closed and nodded. "This is Yukizaki-chan, I don't know if you've met outside of that place. She might have been in your class last year- wait, sorry." Since they were in seperate years and since this year was dragging by it was easy to forget Tom was so new to the school. "Anyway, this is Yukizaki-chan!"

She nodded to herself and then pushed open the door. "Let's go, then! We should find something we can all play."

"Hi Sagaki-san." Seiko waved at him and beamed. "We met in Paradise sort of." she smiled again. "Its nice to meet you properly though Sagaki-san."

"Oh! I'm not much good but I try hard! So anything is fine by me, I just think it is important we work together and get to know each other."

Tom blinked in confusion. Maeko's suggestions were completely foriegn to him, so much so apparently that he didn't think to great Seiko properly. Even though it was something he'd been trying to do lately.

"We... what are we... play together? I thought you two needed help with something."

Maeko nodded. "We did. Neither of us are any good at this stuff and I didn't want us to be the worst ones here. I figured you'd suck at it too."

She grinned. "It's like a team building excersise!"

Seiko made a fist and punched the air. "Go team! Sort of thing." she smiled. "Plus we never know what people's Paradise things may be, we need to have lots of experience of things outside our normal activities to help us incase we need such information!" she nodded wisely.

"Plus its fun Sagaki-san!"

Tom quirked a brow at the idea of it being fun. But Seiko had a point. Unvderstanding everyone and their issues would be a great help in Paradise.

He walked into the arcade after the two women, and looked around. It was hard to try and pick up details with all of the noises, and people moving around. But Tom had always tried to overcome adversity.

Satisfied that Tom was convinced, Maeko headed in. The sudden noise from all directions was dizzying but she recovered quickly enough and looked around.

"Hey, Yukizaki-chan! Do you know if there's any we can all play at once? I've only really been here once before."

Seiko looked thoughtful. "Hey just call me Seiko." she said with a grin "We are a team so we need to have some familiarity...As for a game ummm I think there are some of those ones with the guns on cord things."

She looked at her two companions with some consideration, surely they were going to look a little odd hanging out, that made her smile a little. "But whatever you like."

Tom pocketed his hands, and tried to make a mental note of everything going on around them. The noise would make potential dangers harder to spot, but he tried none the less.

He also tried to note all the games in the room, and figure out how to play them. In general, he felt like he should let the girls decide what they should do.

"Huh? Oh." Given names weren't something Maeko was entirely comfortable with. She'd grown used, somehow, to people adressing her by given name but doing so in return still seemed unnatural. Had she ever even referred to Kanaye by given name? She smiled, though she clearly had to catch herself even just now, the same way she apruptly cut herself off when she started trying to use an honorific for Tom. "Seiko-chan, then!"

She looked around, eventually spotting a machine that matched that description. She increased her pace a little as she moved over to it (what if someone got it first? That would be awful!) then turned around and "Hey, keep up! We're going to try this one, okay?"

Seiko nodded. "Aye aye." she said with a grin and picking up one of the plastic guns a little awkwardly.

"I'm not exactly great at this kind of thing..." she bounced on the balls of her feet, never one to stay still when she was excited.

"Are you okay with this one Sagaki-san?"

Tom examined the machine carefully. Even crouching down to look at it, then picking up one of the guns.

"I have no idea. I've never used something like this before. Though it may be useful for training."

Maeko was also examining the machine, though in a significantly less thorough manner. She was totally just holding the plastic gun to work out how much it weighed and not at all trying to mimic poses from movie posters.

"Okay, let's try it!" Maeko said, nodding to herself once she was done totally not acting like a kid. She put a coin into the machine and pointed the gun at it. "Ready?"

"I am always ready, a coiled spring am I..." Seiko said with a self deprecating grin. She had mentioned the game party because it seemed a little more 'sensible' for their group. As Tom had said it could even be good training.

Seiko's good intentions and enthusiasm did not mean she had any skill shooting zombies of course.

"Ah I think that unhappy looking one is eating my legs again." she said brightly.

Tom snapped his little plastic pistol to the side, and fired off a shot, causing the pixel zombies head to burst. He never even appeared to look away from his own targets.

Tom's posture was rigid, he stood, and moved exactly like he would if it was a real fight. To him shooting the zombies wasn't hard. Throwing a knife at a bird flying away and hitting it while avoiding killing your friend, that was hard.

Oddly despite his superb aim, Tom would jerk back as the zombies attacked him. Dodging the attacks on his own. Yet he still took damage.

Maeko was not really paying much attention to the screen, eyes squeezed shut because ARGH ZOMBIES. She aimed in the general direction of the screen and shot over and over again in a generally ineffective manner.

"Aiii, Sagaki-san is really good." Seiko said nudging Maeko with a grin, then noticing her friend had her eyes tightly closed.

"Ah Maeko-chan, would you like to change games?" Seiko asked her attention now away from her own screen where yet again she was being eaten.

She looked over at Tom, "Is there a way to pause the game?" she asked trying to work it out on her own screen but generally failing.

Tom frowned, and winced as a zombie hit him. He kept pointing the gun at the screen and pulling the trigger, but there was a continuous click as the gun had run out of ammo and he had no idea how to reload.

"I have no idea."

He twirled the pistol around and moved as if to block and strike the screen itself.

Maeko had gingerly openned one eye, still incredbly trigger-happy.

...was Tom dancing?

"Ah, I'm fine! I'm just not used to this..." BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG click click reload BANG "I don't think you can pause..."

Seiko smiled at their joint inability to work out how this violent zombie game seemed to work. She had to admit though Tom's strategy would possibly be more useful in an actual zombie invasion.

She looked back at her screen with a sigh, she seemed to be attracting more zombies than the others somehow. Unfortunately Seiko was the type to anthropomorphise pixel zombies, she felt pretty guilty about shooting them, after all whilst they were rotten and they were trying to eat her, but they had human faces...sort of if you ignored the green bits.

Seiko got eaten again, she was fairly sure she was now down to her last life.

"Hey after this one maybe we could move to something different? Its a little unnerving how these zombies seem to be looking right at me..."

"They do that..."

Tom examined his gun, he frowned, pushed every button and began shaking it. Doing so accidentally shot it off the screen. It reloaded and with fresh bullets, Tom took to clearing away the ones coming after Seiko.

Then he turned to shoot his own zombies and *click* *click,* out of ammo again, Tom began frantically shaking the gun hoping it would reload.

"After this, yeah! Are they really looking at-" Maeko had openned both eyes now, though it didn't seem to have improved her aim at all. She was having no problems with reloading due to shooting everywhere but the zombies.

"-Ah! They are looking!"

"Its creepy right?" Seiko shuddered. "I mean why do they have to have such detailed eyes? I mean the rest of their faces is rotten..."

She smiled. "Thanks Sagaki-san, I'm not that great at dodging yet..." Of course her breaking her concentration to talk meant yet another hoard was after her.

Tom frowned as he watched the zombies eat his little pixel man.

"I can't fathom how to avoid them either. It doesn't make sense, why would we be able to aim and shoot but not avoid? How is this even helpful for training?"
