Who: Misaki and Masami
What: Checking in on those that were in the boss battle
Where: Masami's dorm room
When: After the battle with Renju's shadow, before any drama
Why: Because Misaki is genuinely worried about the health of the team after all that frozen wasteland.

Misaki made her way from her dorm room carrying a small pot of summer soup with her, being careful not to slosh it around too much, and walked up the stairs to the floor where Masami's room was. She had been worried about the others since the battle, and considering the fact that Masami was looking after Tom, someone had to keep an eye on the older girl. Misaki didn't want her to get sick, and soup, even the summer kind which was not as warm as the winter kind, was always good to get the immune system going.

A soft sort of gingerish flavor wafted from the steam that came out as she held the pot in one hand with a mit, and knocked lightly on the door with the other. She had been thinking of the fight. The way Masami had become during it. It had been frightening, and she wondered if Masami had thought of giving up. Misaki doubted it, but...considering the pain that the group went through, it wouldn't have been that much of a surprise.

"Masami-chan? Are you in there? I hope I'm not bothering you?" Misaki called out against the shut door. "I have some soup if you would like. Are you home? If you're busy I can come back later...Masami-chan?"

"It's sort of funny, my family is supposed to be, but honestly I follow more shintoist teachings. My mother has no belief in anything outside of science and my father, well...I'm not really sure I never asked him." Misaki said and sipped slowly, she was getting used to the tea. "Mmm, so why do you think that was? I mean her whole issue with the dead and the river? Also was your family shintoist before, or was it your own choice in the matter?"

"What about? Or am I prying to much there?" Misaki asked genuinely concerned. "I'm kind of worried that being in my dungeon helped her shadow come out faster."

She blinked at Masami and then laughed, "That's not all you're good at. You're really good at getting people to listen Masami-sempai, and people really respect you. You're also level headed at critical times, I really have to say that I envy you because of that. You're also really kind, and compassionate, like with Tom-sempai. Seriously there's more you contribute then just beating up shadows." She took a sip and thought, "I kind of know what you mean, and honestly don't at the same time. Viewing it was scary enough, I mean poor Yoshimi-chan fainted and Keiichi-kun...it was just a real mess. I was...promise not to laugh, but for a while I really thought that you guys were going to die and we wouldn't be able to save Renju-sempai." Misaki looked down. "There was no one to heal your group, and I really really wanted to..."

She blinked some, trying to hold in tears, "I got so mad when Satou-sempai ran off. After he told me he just wanted to protect Maeko-chan. I'm sorry, that just got to me, and Toshi-chan too. They just took off running."

"Well, I don't really know what made Sonozaki-san like that, so I can't really say," Masami said, "As for me, well... my parents are... it's really because I started working as a miko. I guess because of that I kind of ended up actually following Shinto, not just observing the festivals that everyone does..."

"Well... like I said, her shadow just wasn't clear on a lot of things. Also, it's a long shot but maybe she knows something that could help with the case."

"I don't think healing magic would have worked in that case anyhow," Masami said, "and like I said, I also felt a little hopeless about that fight, but... well... umm..."

"It's curious that she would pick such things. It's also a bit creepy in a way. I know the meaning behind the spider Lilies, and a lot of people don't like them." Misaki said softly, "Or at least some people that come in the shop. Why did you start being a Miko? What got your attention about it? I really never thought much about religion and faith, but, I think it might be a good thing to have, you know?"

"Yeah! That would be really good. I'm trying to follow up with Toshimi about the pendent that we got. It just seems really weird that it was only the four of us." Misaki muttered and then nodded, "Can you do me a favor though, when you see Sonozaki-sempai, you probably will before me, can you just ask her why it was that the shadows there seemed really unsettled by my comment about color."

"Hopless? Do you think it was the affects of the shadow or...paradise itself? This...this can't be good if we're seriously starting to feel the affects. I mean what if we wind up starting to actually get more physically connected to that world then this one?" Misaki shuddered.

"I wanted to get a part-time job for some extra spending money and... well, most shrines are pretty quiet except during major shrine-going holidays. I figured it'd be better for me than any other job," Masami explained."

"I'm... not really sure that's a really pressing concern, but if I can, I'll ask her about it..."

"Well, I meant more like... hopeless in the sense that we weren't going to win that battle. It's the first time in Paradise that I haven't been completely sure of victory..."

"So it wasn't a religious choice then? Huh, I never really thought of working at a shrine. Isn't it hard though? Did you have to do a test or anything?" Misaki asked.

Misaki nodded, "Wonder if Keiichi tried to bring her more cookies...Knowing him, he probably did."

"You...you felt it to? I wonder what happens if we can't win? I really don't want to think about it but there is a chance," Misaki said softly.

"It's not that hard most of the time," said Masami, "It gets really hectic during the big festivals though. And... don't you have a job already?"

"Don't worry about what happens if we don't win. I... I'm going to make sure we keep winning. No matter what." The resolve in Masami's tone was clear, but a look at her eyes would show something else. Not resolve, something that felt a little more... sinister, perhaps.

"Well yes, but I'm curious about the whole shrine maiden aspect. My grandmother was one, so for a while I thought of doing it." Misaki explained. "I'm just wondering what it was like."

"Masami-sempai, don't...don't go doing anything that can get yourself hurt please." Misaki noticed this and shivered some. "Really we're a team. We should help one another right? So, so please...don't do something that could get you hurt."

"You shouldn't be worried about me doing something stupid. There are... others in the team who might. Go tell that to them," Masami said, her tone of voice a little harsher than usual.

She stopped and sipped her tea from, and when she spoke again her tone was back to it normal calm. "As for me, I just think I need to start... training again. I did all right against Sonozaki-san's shadow, but..."

Misaki winced, "Sorry, I guess I'm just worried that people's emotions will run high."

"You seemed to get really, angry out there though," Misaki noted quietly. "It...was a bit scary. I really don't know how to discribe it. There was just this energy around you. It wasn't like you looked at the tournament."

"Eh? Did I?" Masami asked, "I don't know. Maybe I was just caught up in the moment?"

"Well you...it was a real change. You seemed to get very upset, like you were one of those characters in a movie that they just loose themself. It was really scary," Misaki said softly and folded her hands looking down at the table they were sitting at. "I don't suppose you know why? You had the same look in your eyes just now when you were talking about winning no matter what."
