Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:kanaye, suzume

Who: Kanaye and open
What: Talking, hanging out, not thinking of Maeko and Misaki.
Where: Around town
When: When Maeko is at her house
Why: Trying to edge him away from drama.

Kanaye was bored. Maeko was still doting over Misaki like some sort of overprotective parent.

God dammit, when he wrote the letters, this is NOT what he expected to happen. It was meant as a joke, to scare her a little. He got mad and decided to pretend to be the murderer for a bit. Kanaye just expected Misaki to get a little freaked, maybe tell Kiriko or something. He didn't expect her to go to MAEKO, of all people. Sure, they were best friends, but...

And now Maeko has proven, once again, that she loved Misaki more then him. Kanaye sighed and took another drink. He really needed someone to talk to.

"Captain!" Suzume yelled cheerily, rolling up behing Kanaye. She'd left the crutch at home for once, opting for rollerblades instead.

"How ya doing? Gonna be keeping in practice over summer, right?"

Oh, hey! Someone to talk to! And someone that talks VERY LOUDLY! Kanaye couldn't have asked for someone better. "Of course, Suzume-san!" He said, laughing. "I couldn't exactly give up, right?"

"Speaking of which, what're you gonna do over your summer? Are you staying here or going to your parent's house?"

"Awesome! It'd be, like, pretty lame to be out of practice when term starts again."

She shrugged. "Mom and dad'll probably be coming to visit sometime but they're back on the mainland with that kid. I'm going to stay in the dorms. But I got projects to work on anyway so it's fine! You?"

"Totally. You'd get shown up by everyone. And no one wants that." Kanaye nodded. "Well, the other people might, but who cares what they think?"

Kanaye smiled. "Staying at the dorms. My parents really don't want me at the house right now, lord knows why, and it's closer to my friends and such. I mean, we don't live that far away anyway, but all my friends are staying at the dorms."

"I certainly don't! And, like, if they come back and the've been lazy over summer I'm gonna use the wrestling!" Suzume nodded to herself feircely. The wrestling would fix everything.

"They don't want you around? Weird. I'm allowed to go home got getting all that way seems like a bother, you know? I'd have to go on a train. Then on another train. Then on another train. And, like, so on. I'd miss a stop somewhere along the line and then I'd get stuch somewhere weird and there might be, like, animals there. I don't wanna get stuck on a train station with a tiger or something."

She thought, wheeling along. "You got anything you're working on over summer?"

Kanaye blinked and smiled, twitching a bit. "Wrestling. Right. Am I the only one that doesn't really like that part of it?" He asked nervously.

"Well, they might, but they're never around so I really don't care." Kanaye blinked and smiled. "That would be a problem. Tigers are not very good train mates, no. I mean, wouldn't it eat you?" Kanaye took a swig of his drink.

"Just the usual. Homework, relationships, that's about it."

Suzume wobbled on her wheels but righted herself quickly. "You don't like the wrestling? Man, nobody on the team likes the wrestling! Lame."

"Oh. That makes more sense I guess. And yeah. They'd be, like, ROAR and I'd have to use the wrestling. And wrestling a tiger at a trainstation just sounds dumb."

"That sounds pretty boring, doesn't it?"

Kanaye decided to ignore the "the". "Well, we joined the team to play SOCCER. Not wrestling. Ito-sensei is really annoying at times." He sighed.

Kanaye smiled and laughed. "A bit, yeah. And you'd probably have to save people, unless they are also tigers. Which would cause problems, cause now you have to fight against several tigers..."

Kanaye almost laughed again. "I don't see why it would be boring. If you have a better idea, I'm all for it."

"s'true." Suzume said after a little thought, shrugging. "Well then, if they're ignoring the wrestling then they gotta be twice as good at the soccer! That seems fair, right?"

"I think it'd be better if there were more tigers. They'd, like, fight each other instead. Since there's not much of me to eat it'd be pretty difficult to share."

Kanaye sighed, but nodded anyway. "Of course. It's only fair. I seem to be better then anybody else on the team, so I should be fine. Everyone else is screwed, though!" Kanaye laughed.

"This is true!" Kanaye nodded wisely. "I did not think of such a course of action. And there wouldn't be much of you to eat. How would you get a guy like the way you look now?" He said teasingly.

Suzume tutted, shaking her head. "Even if that's true you can't get complacent! No way! If you do then everyone else'll catch up! You gotta keep up the practice!"

"Hey! I'll have you know there's plenty of guys who like athletic girls! And guys who like girls who're little and cute like me! I can't, like, name any of them but I could get a guy super simple if I wanted." Suzume said, the epitome of self-confidence.

Kanaye sighed. "More important things to think about right now. I'll try, but I can't guarantee anything. I'd give you captain spot, but, yaknow, they'd have my head for giving a girl the position."

Kanaye smirked. "It was a joke, Suzume-san. You're..." Kanaye blinked. "I honestly can't say you're cute or attractive to me. Your personality is a bit weird, as well." He ignored the hypocrisy. "I mean, there's someone out there for you, but it wouldn't be me, even if I wasn't going out with Maeko."

Suzume shrugged, filling in the blanks herself. "Like, university stuff? I should probably start thinking about stuff like that too, huh? I could probably apply for a sports scholarship someplace." After a little more thought she waved her hand. "No big deal. I still wouldn't be allowed to play in official matches for the boys team and it'd be kinda weird if the captain couldn't actually play."

She laughed. "Like I'd want to anyway! It'd be a distraction to date anyone on the team. And you're kinda, you know, drinky. And whiney."

Kanaye nodded slowly. "That is exactly what I mean." He remarked deadpan before drinking from his hip flask. "A sports scholarship would be nice, yeah. I'm not quite sure if my dad would be happy with it, but ok."

Kanaye proved her right by taking another drink. "Can't argue with you there, Suzume-san. Who would you date, anyway?"

"Hey, just 'cause it's not a brainy thing doesn't make it any less of an achievement!" Suzume nodded. "Athletes have just as much a place in this world as nerdfaces!"

Suzume gave this some thought. "Huh." She thought some more. "You won't, like, tell anyone right?"

Kanaye shrugged. "Tell that to my father. Actually, don't. He'd just look at you weirdly. I mean, 'nerdfaces?" Seriously? Can't you come up with something better then that?"

"Why would I? Your secret is safe with me."

"Something better? Um..." Suzume thought. And thought. And thought. And rolled around in a little circle while thinking. "Nope. Not that means the same. Academicappearance doesn't have the same ring to it."

"Okay then, well." She made a big deal of looking lik she was whipering without actually being any quieter. "You know Kondo-chan in first year? From the cheer club?"

Kanaye facepalmed. "Well, looks like there's one thing you are bad at. Maybe more, but your ability to make snappy insults leaves much to be desired, Suzume-san."

Kanaye blinked. His life went from "straight as an arrow" to "gay city" in a few months. Oh well. "You like Kozue-chan? I can't blame you, she's cute."

"Well I shouldn't need to! People should be less lame so I don't have to insult them!" Suzume said, nodding.

"It's still normal for now." She counted on her fingers. "It's okay for girls to be that way as long as they're still in school. I read it on the internet."

"But aren't you stooping to their level if you use such stupid comebacks? I could think of better insults about academic people then that. I won't, given some of my friends are academic, but still."

Kanaye shook his head. "Bullshit. I never believed in that Class S stuff. Just seems like someone trying to make people think they weren't a lesbian. Not that I have a problem with it. How about I ask Kozue-chan if she's into girls?"

"Thier level's way lower. Like if it's someone like Oubaiface. Any insult's way better than someone with no spirit and no manners!" Suzume folded her arms and pouted at the thought of someone so devoid of energy.

"No way! It's totally real! Like, if it wasn't real then it wouldn't be okay and people'd get mad about it! As long as I stay in school it's fine!" She thought some more. "She might be, like, insulted. S'best not to."

"Have to agree with you there. Kou is a dick. There are better ways of insulting him, though. A warning of warning, however. Do not insult his mother. It will not end well."

"Suzume-san, it's alright. You can be bisexual or lesbian. Do I look like I care? No one else should, either." Kanaye smiled. "Nonsense, Suzume-san! I'm her friend. I could just ask Kozue-chan if she's interested in girls without talking about you."

"Why would I insult his mother? It's not her fault her kid sucks so much." She appeared to think some more but to no avail.

"Yeah but, like, even if you don't care other people do. So you gotta keep it, like, triplequiet." Think think think. "But she might, like, get mad about it! Or get upset that someone thinks she's weird! I don't want her to be upset!"

"Good, then. Don't insult his mother in front of him. It will not end well." Kanaye repeated himself.

"I get what you mean, I have to go through something similar after all, but that doesn't mean you have to hide it. You should embrace it. Or her." Kanaye sighed. "If it's me asking, it's me that'll get in trouble. You won't enter in the equation."

"Man, I don't even know his mother." Suzume said, shrugging. "I got no reason to insult at her."

She shook her head, smile not leaving her face for a second.

"It's fine, it's fine. It's not about getting it trouble. She might be, like, upset about it. I'm only going to be like this for a little bit longer anyway, there's not much point. It's not worth risking making anyone upset if it's just a few months anyway."

"True enough. You're better then most people. "Your mom" jokes get really old. I mean, I don't really care," Kanaye said flippantly, "but some people do."

Kanaye sighed. "Whatever, Suzume-san. If you think so. I'll help you pick up girls in college, then. That's experimenting time, not high school."
