Team meeting
Who: Everyone.
What: Post-dungeon meeting.
Where: Outside of school, somewhere where Emi can overhear them.
When: May 1st, after school.
Why: 'Cause this shit is bananas.

She hoped she wouldn't be the first to arrive.

Kiriko had set the meeting date for a little while after the last bells rang. Nothing too conspicuously late, and out in the field behind the school where a large gathering of teens wouldn't raise any eyebrows.

Really, she wouldn't be surprised if she was the first, though - but even though she'd brought notes about it and consolidated all the information she had into a page or less, she didn't really feel like leading the discussion while the others stared at her dumbly.

If Kou was able to make it, that shouldn't be too hard to avoid - he had a lot to explain about what he'd been doing...

She was hungry and her picture was half-finished and she had another detention to make up after skipping her last one. But none of this mattered at the moment - all Shiori could think about was that she was late to the meeting (but when wasn't she late to anything?) and...

Was that Ishinomori-san up ahead?

Running to catch up to him, she followed his lead and sat next to him at the table. It seemed that she wasn't too late, but the fact that she had been irritated her slightly. She shouldn't have been such a chronoptimist.

Ignoring the newcomers, Kiriko kept her focus on Oubai, her frown deepening at his words.

"What do you mean you don't reme-- wait, did you say the shadow caught you? Like, on the street? And it pulled you in or something...?"

Vague details were better than none, but his inability to remember left her feeling somewhat annoyed all the same. It might be a side-effect of that world...

"Maybe we should go over what we already know? And what we want to find out, too."

Kouchisei looked at Toru and Shiori to let them know he was listening to whatever they would say, and then turned his gaze to Kiriko. He pushed up his glasses, covering his discomforted expression.

"I meant it caught me in the hospital. Before it did, I don't recall what happened. ... Believe me, it's not what I wanted. It's... not the shadows themselves. It might be the world. I don't know yet."

"So you don't know how you got there? You just walked into the school and BAM, there you were?" Kanaye walked around, hand on his chin. "This is a problem. We have no idea how or why Kou was kidnapped...I agree with Ikeda-san, we should just go over our info and see if we can find a pattern."

Toru smiled a little at Misaki's drawing, and scribbled a tiny "thank you" beneath it for the note.

Turning his attention back to Kouchisei, he pondered what was being said. Doesn't remember anything? Went from the school right to that bizarre hospital? This is just like a surreal anime. Maybe Detergent at its strangest.

"Um... if you don't know how you got there... do you know who exactly that other you was? I mean, he said he was you, but he was obviously one of the shadows..." His voice cracked a little as he said it.

Misaki sat there listening. When Shiori came she tapped the table near the older girl and wrote.

Are you upset Wakanata-chan?

Looking up at the others she carefully took in what they were saying, she seemed to be playing something in her mind.

"Toru-kun is right, he did say he was you Oubai-sempai. But it's odd, why would it say that and you don't know why you wound up there?" She closed her eyes and just started to talk aloud seeing if anything came to her mind.

"Okay so we know that Sato-sempai was found at his desk by Ishino-sensei. I know that before that he was acting less like himself and asking me strange questions about wheather or not I believe in Paradise. Then we had that weird situation on Sports day, where we we're all stuck in the gym, except Oubai-sempai. We wound up in that weird place when Iwata-sempai turned the handle the opposite way that it normally turns. When we were there we got that creepy phone call and suddenly we have these...Personas...which Kiriko-chan found out is a tearm that pyschologists use to talk about ourselves but not us as we know or understand it."

She took a breath and scowled some in thought as she went on, "Then on top of this while we were in that place, we were attacked by creatures we've never seen, no one else was there, and the place just seemed...odd. What we do know is that the only way to get there is by turning the handle or knob on a door on a sunny day, apparently the rumors on that were true. Also that world converts things in this one, or at least things we know about..."

Misaki paused and glanced up at the others as she spoke, "The thing is that um...well...the place we went to the first time resembled the school when we went there the second time it was Oubai-sempai's family resturant. But when we were inside it was a hospital that was empty except for the shadows that came after us. Then there was that weird crying table and...other things. And like Toru-kun already said, that 'Other Oubai-sempai' was definently a shadow."

She pouted some as if working around a marble in a maze, "Could it be that that world is the Paradise that Sato-sempai mentioned to me? Also, Oubai-sempai, what was the last thing you did before your memory went away? I know that we found your shoes and Sato-sempai's shoes in the locker, so I wonder if it's someone at the school that might have talked to you before everything went all myserious."

Misaki blinked and realized everything she had been saying and blushed feircely, waving her hands, "Um...Um...Um...but I might be wrong on all this you know! I mean that's the only things that I really noticed. Er...I'll be quiet now."

Kanaye stared at the girl...and then applauded.
"Quite good, Misaki-chan. Impressive summation. It would seem that it would be like Paradise. Kou-kun didn't want to leave, and it was based on his emotions, thoughts, and feelings..."
Kanaye nodded ferociously. "Yes, I do believe the other world is some sort of Paradise! A twisted version, perhaps, but Paradise to whoever enters it none-the-less."

She blushed some but smiled, "Well Toru-kun helped out. So you should thank him too!"

Misaki grinned brightly at Toru and then went back to her scribbling.

Toru averted his eyes from Misaki. "I didn't do much. All I did was ask about the other Kouchisei... I-I mean, anyone could have said what I did... Um, but... if that's all true, where did the other one come from? It makes sense that it either was born from that hospital place and came out to capture Kouchisei-sempai, or it came from Kouchisei himself and dragged him to where we found them. Um... assuming you didn't go there on your own."

He blushed furiously and promptly shut up.

Kouchisei directed his gaze to Kanaye, looking from the side. He pushed up his glasses and spoke clearly, "No, I don't." Except he sounded tired. "That hospital was where my..."

He shut up, gathering his thoughts as Misaki made a summery. That hospital had been frightening, but the longer he'd stayed there the more comfortable he had felt. That shadow had been a part of him. Confronted by it, he'd been forced to face something he had been trying to escape. Those people were right, but to admit it - and in front of strangers - he was finding difficult.

"The last thing... I came into school," he told Misaki. He looked at Toru after what the younger man said, but remained quiet.

Maeko wrote as quickly as she could, switching to shorthand to quickly catch all of Misaki's points. Everyone was talking too fast.

"If you remember coming into school and your shoes were never removed from the locker-" She begam, tapping the top of her pen on both the relavent points. "-then it seems reasonable to assume that whatever happenend to you happened inside the school on the day you vanished."

Shiori looked down as the piece of paper was pushed towards her, managing to read it before Aoi-san began talking and bringing up points Shiori had never thought of, let alone considered. It only made her more aware of how amazing Aoi-san was.

Taking the pencil, Shiori wrote back a short nope. are you?

It seemed almost inappropriate to be writing notes like this, and yet she still slid it back over to Aoi-san.

Nodding, Kou looked around for someplace to rest. His legs were heavy and it was a pain to walk. Except there wasn't a chair in sight.

"I guess so," he said absentmindedly.

Misaki quickly wrote, Just a bit worried I guess. It's weird, the people that keep vanishing are guys. You don't think that someone's targeting boys do you?

Misaki looked up and blinked, "So then wouldn't it be someone in the school that attacked Sato-senpai as well?"

Kou shook his head. "It must've been coincidence. I don't remember anything out of the ordinary, and I don't have bruises to prove it."

Keiichi stood quietly, watching over the meeting. The piecing together of things wasn't something he was especially good at, so he simply listened, trying to combine the information together in his own mind.

There seemed to be so much they didn't know. It was worrisome, to say the least.

"Neither did Sato, and we all know how he turned out." Kanaye pointed out. "Maybe chloroform? Just shoved a bag over your head with a chloroform rag in it, sit on you or something til it works, then strand you...wherever you were."

Kou's expression was of befuddlement. "What nonsense are you talking about?"

From what he knew of Kanaye, the older boy didn't often make sense.

Kanaye paused, raised his finger and opened his hand to speak, paused again, and lowered his hand. "I'm not honestly sure. What're we talking about again?"

Misaki sighed some and said quickly, "We're talking about why exactly Oubai-senpai and Sato-senpai were targeted and how he got stuck in that place..."

She rubbed her head, "I'm starting to think that that place is the place that Sato-san ment when he asked me if I believe in paradise. Hummm..."

Misaki glanced at Kou, "Oubai-senpai, can I ask you something and it'll seem really strange, but...can you retrace your steps up until you can't remember? Like what you did that day who you saw. Maybe that might give us some sort of clue."

Kiriko had been sitting with her arms crossed over her chest and her legs crossed at the ankle, frowning hard throughout the discussion. This barely made any sense. The compilation of "facts" and their attempt at deductive reasoning all felt completely off to her, no matter how much it fit with the events. This world was strange. This world shouldn't exist. Who knew whether or not there was any rhyme and reason to it - they were dealing with the supernatural! Why should it follow natural rules, why should they be talking about things like chloroform and a particular pattern for who was being "targeted"?

"If you ask me," she said, finally, after clearing her throat, "there's probably no 'target' at all. People just wander in and they can't get out."

She looked around to each of her comrades, meeting all of their eyes in turn as though to impress the importance of her next question upon them.

"I think our real question is, what are we supposed to do about all of this?"

"Endure." Kouchisei paused for a moment. "Also, I think we should investigate... that place... whenever somebody goes missing. I'm assuming that's if they in there. Well, I'm fairly sure if they are they'd be in danger."
