Who: Shojiro and any students.
When: After classes.
Where: History classroom.
What: One on One study sessions, for the ones lagging and the gifted ones.
Why: Kids need their booksmarts.

Shojiro sat in the History classroom, regular lessons had finished, but as the Teaching Assistant he ran special sessions for those students who were falling behind, but also those who were considered particularly bright. Usually the students were fairly well behaved, but with holidays approaching all they seemed to do was try to divert him from teaching them. He knew they had been having to work hard, so he was lenient as long as they listened to him for a while. After all even he got a bit bored of teaching students who were thinking more of holidays and their social life than History , he straightened his noted and smiled a little with a yawn> In truth he wanted a nap , but he‘d pulled the desk over a little into a patch of sunlight and lent back waiting for his first student to come in.

He‘d been a student at the school the year before, so he knew a few of the students as friends, so he could understand how impatient they were and how they wanted to get out and have fun. But then again his idea of fun was different from their‘s, as usually for fun he studied, but he could appreciate how they wanted to get out. He smiled again and looked over at the door hoping that his first student would be on time today.

"Are you sure you don't want something more complicated?" Shojiro smiled and tilted his head. "Who knew you were such a maths buff? Was saying it was your weakness just modestly?" he asked his tone light.

He suddenly frowned a little thinking of his mother was always a little heavy after all. He always ended up in conversations which brought up something complicated.

	Kanaye sighed and looked up, glaring. "Are you trying to insult me, Shojiro-san, or is that me unable to read the tone of your voice? This is perfectly fine, Shojiro-san." With that, he silently continued work on the problems. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"I'm not trying to insult anyone." Shojiro replied suddenly fretting, he wasn't good with sharp words.

"I get distracted when my Mother comes up." he shrugged, a strange excuse perhaps. "Do whichever problems help you. I can't work out what you need to improve if you aren't doing things at the right level."

Shojiro wasn't exactly a people person, he meant well naturally, but his pride was easily pricked, of course he also then would feel very bad about making people annoyed and got guilty. Also no one likes to be told their mother is a liar. He sipped his water quietly.

	Kanaye wasn't a people person either. For one, he has a habit of asking questions and wanting to know more about people. He also has a habit of assuming the worst. "Dead? Um no, she's just- well as you grow up you realize your parents aren't always honest with you and Mum is the uh...protective type." He shrugged a little.

"I didn't mean to get you riled up, I really just want you to do your best work wise. I can tell you are a smart person but in lessons you seem disinterested when really you could do so much better and really get somewhere."

	Kanaye shrugged. "No one is honest with most people, Shojiro-san. You get used to it." "That's the point, isn't it?" He continued working on the problems. "Why do you want to work to get somewhere when you've got everything lined up for you? I mean, at worse, my dad will just look at me disapprovingly if I don't get into college." Shojiro sighed and looked at Kanaye, "do you want to do the stuff that is lined up for you though?" he asked thoughtfully.

"I mean part of life can sometimes be deciding what you want?" he gave a shrug trying not to seem like he was overstepping the mark, but whilst tactless, he really did care about the students here and if there was a chance one had a problem he wanted to help.

	Kanaye stretched and smiled. "Well, it certainly beats working for things, right? At least I'm happier about it then Kiriko or Kou, for example." Kanaye lied like his life depended on it. While he didn't really want to have his dad decide his life, he couldn't think of anything else he wanted to do that he was good at. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Shojiro shrugged. "As long as you are happy, but you could still maybe work harder to make sure you aren't missing out on anything?"

He made a few notes, logging that Kanaye had arrived for a session and details of the 'work' being done.

"Its funny my Mum wanted me to go into science be a doctor so I could 'look after her', but I discovered I wanted to teach instead..." he grinned a little embarrassed. "She refused to talk to me for two months, or send me any food..."

	"Effort is overrated, Shojiro-san." The young blond smiled. "What would I miss out on? I have a girlfriend that I love, I have two friends that I also love. Really, I'm perfectly happy." Shojiro laughed. "I can never tell my Mother about you, clearly a bad influence." he grinned though. "My Mother loves me very much, but as I get older I realize she hasn't exactly...helped me."

"Friends do help though." he mused resigned to the fact probably not much work would get done, but a slight smile tugged at his mouth as he realized he actually liked Kanaye's company.
