Contrary to what some might assume, Renju was not entirely devoid of sympathy, and Keiichi's reaction elicited an inward wince. Still, he had to have been expecting it--all the club leaders knew her reputation by now, she was sure, and he himself said he probably knew why...

"To be perfectly honest, I joined just to try it, and I stayed for longer than I'd intended to." Polite though she was, she could also be fairly blunt when she wanted to, and it helped her push through the faint stirrings of guilt that were beginning to form. "I've learned a great deal here, but I don't have enough interest to stay with it."
