Something to talk about?
Who: Nayuki, Misaki and OPEN
What: Delivery and Flowers
Where: Hanakotoba Flower Shop
When: After School
Why: Nayuki has to deliver something for the flower shop. It's a good excuse as any to visit Misaki, right?

Nayuki wasn't sure, but he was beginning to suspect that his employers were playing favourites. "Or maybe they're just testing the new guy?" For whatever reason it truly was, he felt somewhat cheated on today's workload. Needing only to deliver one ream of promotional flyers and Official Recept Pads, he felt rather cheated. He shook his head as he found himself nearing his destination, it wasn't his place to complain about it. He was getting paid for the job, regardless. Parking his bicycle behind the utility post in font of the flower shop, he locks it in place and unstraps his bag. He takes a few moments to take his crash helmet off and fix his hair while looking at his bike's side-mirror. "Rats... they're starting to curl again. I'll have to visit the barber shop in the weekend."

With everything set, he enters the flower shop. As usual, there was nobody manning the register. The soothing mix of fragrance welcomed him. "It'll never get old." Carefully placing the parcel on the countertop, he reaches for the electronic buzzer and gives it a gentle tap. The room suddenly comes alive with the sound of chirping birds. He chuckles as he realizes that the shop owner had changed the sound-byte for the doorbell yet again. In each of the times he's delivered a package to the shop, the buzzer never had the same sound. He began to wonder just how anyone would be able to tell if there was a customer here. While waiting for the recipient's arrival, Nayuki decided to take a good look at the new batch of flowers for sale.

Hikaru paused in the middle of working on a new arrangement for a wedding that would be in a week. The Hydrangas and Dandilions were an odd mix to do, but the bride insisted on the collor of Honey, since her husband was a bee honey collector. He really didn't get it, but who was he to mess with what the customer wanted.

Setting down his clipers he glanced over at his sister, "Can you get that for me Misaki?"

Misaki was trying to keep the pug puppy off a basket and nodded, "Sure. Come on boy, lets see who's out front okay?"

Walking out she was pleased to see Nayuki and waved. "Good afternoon Sempai! What brings you here today? Work?"

The little pug, right now named Trowler, hurried out from behind the counter to sniff at the new person that had come into the store. He smelled something on his feel and started to lick at and slobber on Nayuki's shoes.

Nayuki evidently brightened at Misaki's appearance. He was expecting the older Aoi to come out and deal with him, but this alternative was absolutely better. "Ossu! I'm dropping off your brother's flyers and pads." He smiled and tapped the parcel on the counter top. "I hope it's alright if I also came by to see how you're doing." He put his hands on his waist, "I haven't seen you in campus lately, your pink hair isn't exactly difficult to spot even when I'm not specifically looking."

Just then, Nayuki felt something nibbling on his sneakers. "Hmm?" Looking down, he sees something that appears to be a bunched up towel with legs and tail. "Well, hello there." Crouching down for better inspection, he scoops the pug in his arms and chuckles. "Who's this little bundle of attention? I haven't seen you around here before." He couldn't help but visibly grin at the strange-looking dog as he scruffs it behind the ears. "Oho! You like that, don't you?"

Misaki smiled cheerfully and looked over the flyers, "Oh I see! And he used the design I made. I'm glad, I told him that the older one was a bit too busy. This one's simple but has a polished look to it." She shrugged some at the question, "I'll be okay. I'm going to have to, if not I'm going to worry a lot of people it seems. How's everything in school? I'm coming back tomorrow so...I just needed a few days to get my head together."

"Oh, that? Well right now we're calling him Trowler, though he doesn't have an offical name." She giggled some seeing the pug lean up and lick the older boys face trying to taste the salt from the sweat. "He seems to like you a lot. My brother just got him a few days ago. The owner couldn't take care of him so he gave him to niisan."

The pug barked and panted happily at the attention.

Nayuki's expression turns serious as he gets up, carrying Trowler. "You mustn't push yourself if you're not ready for it, Aoi-san. The worse thing that you can ever do is deceive yourself." He decided to leave out the part of him having gone through the same experience and continued to pet the little pug. "I might sound meddlesome and this isn't exactly any of my business, but these things... you can't take this on alone." He walks to the flowers and turns around to face Misaki. "You're just like these hibiscus, you know? They do their best each day to bloom, but they can't do it alone. So, they bear out their deepest and vulnerable side to their friends... the bees, the wind, the dew and the sun." He lets Trowler sniff at the tip of the flower before continuing. "And with their help, she's able to go on each day."

Nayuki wasn't good with analogies, but he felt that this one was fitting. He gives Misaku a reassuring smile. "I'm just trying to say that you've got a lot of friends to help you. And it wouldn't be troublesome at all." He hands over Trowler to her and gives her a gentle pat on the head, making sure he doesn't ruin her hair. "There will be times when things can get really rough. I know you've got strength in you, but don't hesitate to call out to us." Remembering something from his past, he suddenly shakes his head and softly chuckles.

"Well then... On to another subject." He plucks out another kind of hibiscus, and carefully places it on Misaki's hair. "Do you have any plans for Tanabata? The whole campus is up in a buzz with it." He brings out his wallet and leaves some money beside the register to pay for the flower he just plucked.

"Hibiscus huh? Never really thought of myself as one of those," she went over to examine the flower. "You would think working here as much as I do means I know a lot about the sort of flower that I like. But really I don't. I just tend to like them all the same. They're all so pretty and perfect in a way."

Misaki sighed, "But what if those friends are only there till the flower stops being pretty. Once the seasons change, she wilts. Where are her friends then...they're gone."

The dog starts to nibble on Misaki's hair and she laughs some, "Boy calm."

Her face gets flusterd, "Ah...er...well um..Keiichi-sempai might be meeting there." Then shakes her head at the payment, "No charge, but thank you."

"We all experience harsh winters in our lives, Aoi-san. But we have plenty of seasons to look forward to. Your friends are there for you when you're ready to come out again." Nayuki plants his hands on his waist once again, pouting. "I really ought to drag Sumi here. She's better with pep talks."

He watched for a few moments as Trowler decided that pink hair was edible afterall and chuckled at the results. Owing a lot of his transition to Misaki, Nayuki felt frustrated at the fact that he had very little to offer her in times like these. He wasn't exactly sure what triggered her breakdown, but from what she has given up so far hinted on a betrayal or abandonment. And those were not exactly easy to move past from. Even so, he was determined to look out for little miss hibiscus.

He grins at Misaki's flustered response. "O-ho. So Ito-san beat me to it, huh?" He scratched the back of his head and playfully stuck his tongue out. "I guess I shouldn't have waited for work to ask you. Ah, well." He shakes his head at the notion of not getting charged. "If that's the case, then may I buy you something else then? Perhaps something you wanted to get for Tanabata?"

Misaki looked at him thoughtfully and smiled some, "So who's Sumi-san? Your girlfriend Sempai?"

"Well kind of, um....I'm really not sure. I don't want you spending money on me Nayuki-sempai. You work so hard it wouldn't be right to take that money from you." Misaki said to him and looked down at the dog. "Sempai...can I ask you something that would seem a bit silly. What would you do if someone very close to you, say a friend, who's known you for a long time, who you think you love with all your heart. Not like, in the sense that you want to be a mom and dad with, but...something different that you really can't explain...what would you do if they told you that they didn't want to be friends anymore because they wanted to be their own person and they felt that they were holding you back?"

Nayuki absentmindedly rubbed his hand against his chin. "Sumi? My girlfriend?" He chuckles and shakes his head, "No, no, no. That'd be too much like dating my own sister!" He pulls out his wallet and shows Misaki a photograph of Sumi. "She's my best friend. But I bet she'd kill me if she ever found out that I still have this picture of her." He couldn't contain his snickering. "That was when she got pushed by the school to represent them during the Scholars Recognition Week. For a Student Council President, she sure didn't feel that authoritative."

Nayuki put the his wallet back in his pocket as he listened carefully listened to Misaki as she explained a situation. The smile on his face disappeared almost instantly as he began to consider options for her. Applying the situation between himself and his best friend, he did not like the outcome. "I'd say I'd be pretty much... broken... for quite a long time." He grimaced as he just realized the situation Misaki's currently in. The most definitely justifies her breakdown. The fact that she's standing right infront of him, seeming as if nothing bad has happened, struck him harder. "Aoi-san..." He wondered just how long has it been since it happened to her. "We're you keeping this all to yourself? All this time?"

Misaki glanced at the photo and grinned brightly, "She's so cute! She could probably be a model if she wanted to." Listening to the story she had to laugh and set down Trowler again. "She looks so embaressed but I bet she had a wonderful time."

She rubbed her arm some at the question, "For a while now, I mean a few people know, but I didn't want to tell them the extent of it. I don't want...you see the person is friends with other people who are friends of mine, and I don't want people choosing sides, because in a way she is right. She needs to figure out things on her own. And I guess in a way I am a bit of a burden to her. So...I've been trying to give her space, but it's really hard. And it's hard to see her in school."

"I was mostly a wreck before I got here, you know? Sumi saved me plenty of times before. I've changed for the better thanks to her." Nayuki grimaced inside. And he thought HIS problems were severe. Where does this girl get the strength to still stand here, he wondered. No matter, he only hopes he can at least help Misaki get through. "And I think it's no coincidence that I found my way to you, Aoi-san." He wasn't sure why, but he was suddenly reminded of his first meeting with his best friend. And without any other ideas on what to do, Nayuki decided to recreate that moment in hopes that it would help Misaki just as it helped him.

Nodding to himself, he reaches his hands out to the pink-haired kouhai and slowly pulls her close to an embrace. While gently patting Misaki on her head, he recalls the words Sumi told him and recites them to her.

"I cannot erase the ache in your heart, nor take your pain away.
But, let me stay and take your hand, and walk with you today.
I'll listen when you need to talk, even wipe away your tears.
Share your worries when they come, I'll help you face your fears.
I'm here today to stand by you, with each hill you have to clib.
Look up, Let go and take a stand. And live just one day at a time.
You're not alone, and I'm now here to help reach that extra mile.
And when your grief is easier, I'll see you with a smile."

Nayuki slowly releases Misaki from the embrace, but leaves it up to her to pull away or not. He just stares at the hibiscus as he speaks out to her. "You've done well up to this point to care for others. But you mustn't deny your own feelings in this as well. Friends get along, but they also have times when they fight. If you love your friend as much as you say you do... won't you give them the benefit of the doubt and think hard for their reasons behind this break-up?" He bites his lower lip as flashes of his own memories of betrayals resurface. He was sure that he wouldn't want Misaki to go through all that. He had to get her to look at the brighter side of it all. "Perhaps your friend meant something else, but chose the wrong words to convey their feelings. Or perhaps you misunderstood their intentions. Either way, wouldn't you think that all this would be strange? You can give them space, if that's what you want. But you don't have to give up on them just because you think that's what they want."

Nayuki falls silent for a few moments, just staring at the flowers and listening to Misaki breathing. A hint of nostalgia washes over him as he remembers the role-reversal of the same situation between him and Sumi. He prays hard that it'd be good enough for his pink-haired kouhai.

"You were in the same place sempai?" Misaki starts to ask and blushed some when he said that there was a reason that he found his way to her. She blinked hard when he held her close and closed her eyes letting silent tears slip down her face as he recited.

"I cannot erase the ache in your heart, nor take your pain away.

She took some deep breaths and drew in from what he said, "I...I'll talk to her. At the festival. I'll try to talk to her and see why she felt the way she did. Maybe...maybe then I...I'll understand why."

Misaki smiled some and then looked up at Nayuki, "Thank you Sempai. You really are a good man."

Nayuki returns the sweet smile, gives her one last gentle squeeze and stands back within arms reach. "Atta girl!" He finally pays attention to poor little Trowler, who has been trying to get both of their attention for quite a while. He reaches down to the pug and carries it in his arms. Turning his attention back to Misaki, he asks, "So... Do you think you'll have enough time on the day of the festival to juggle your workload, your date with Ito-san and trying to patch things up with your precious one?" He let the question hang in the air for a while, giving time for the pink-haired girl to gather a response.

He then shrugs and grins sheepishly, "I wasn't really plan on going to Tanabata since I don't have anything good to wear for that special occasion." He idly scratches the back of Trowler's ears, which gets a few leg-thumping response from the dog. "I think I can come early, make my wish at the shrine, then help you out with Hanakotoba's promotions. Is that alright with you?" He hands the pug over to Misaki. "That might buy you time so you can find the moment to talk to your friend. It's not really much... but... I think it's one of the few ways I can cheer you on, Aoi-san."

Misaki reached out and patted Trowler on the head as she took in what he said. She seemed to be thinking about things and nodded her head slowly and then stroked him softly. Trowler whimpered happily at the full attention he was getting from the two people. Misaki took a moment to decide and nodded her head slowly.

"That would be great of you Sempai. In turn I'll make you a Yukata for the festival okay? It's my way of saying thank you. You've been to kind to me, and I really haven't done much to repay you for your kindness." Misaki commented and gently sighed some. "I think I should be able to do it. I've done worse during christmas and summer wedding season. So Yes I think I'll be able to deal with that. People tend to think I can't deal with a lot of things, but normally I can take in stuff and just stuff it deep down to keep it from bubbling up to bother me."

"It's just the fact that right now, I...normally that person that's important to me is there, and now she's not, but some how I'll make it right and she will be." Misaki smiled at him kindly. "After all I have people like you cheering me on."

"You shouldn't really just stuff things deep inside you like that, Aoi-san. I'm sorry if I'm out of line with this, but..." He remembers yet another batch of moments in his life that he's not very proud of. "I speak from experience. It never ends well. And I hope it won't have to be true in your situation." Nayuki could feel his ears burning for some reason. A smiling Misaki is better, after all. "Wow, really? You know how to make those!?" He takes a few moments to consider the offer and nods to her, "I'll only agree on the yukata, then, if you have the time and energy to spend it on."

He detaches the sheet of paper from the parcel, writes his mail address and mobile number, and hands it over to Misaki. "Here." He chuckles as Trowler decided to accept the paper instead. "You can reach me through those details. If you need me for anything... and I mean ANYTHING. Don't hesitate to reach me." He takes a deep breath and slowly zips his windbreaker up. "Will you be alright, for now? I can stay around and keep you and Trowler here company for a while."

Misaki smiled brightly and took the paper laughing some, "Well only if you agree to stay for lunch. We were about to have it. And I'll get you the yukata by the day of the festival."

She smiled kindly at him and his offer, "Thank you very much Sempai. You're very kind." Trowler made a bark and she giggled, "Trowler says thank you too."

Nayuki mentally jaw-dropped at Misaki's proposition. He did offer to keep her company, but being invited over for a meal was a big thing for him. He stammers a bit as he checks his clothes. "T - that's... Lunch... I - I mean... A - are you sure? I'm not exactly dressed for the occasion." It was evident that he was in a panic. And if he could physically melt on the spot, he would've done so already. "You're brother's back there, isn't he? W - what about his fiancee? I - I wouldn't want to impose." He was cursing himself repeatedly as he had very little to offer the Aoi family in terms of being a house guest. "I wonder if..."

Nayuki holds his hands up to Misaki, "Hang on." and made a dash back to his bike. Unlocking the compartment, he brings out a tied bundle and runs back inside the flower shop. He holds the pack out to Misaki and smiles brightly, "I hope you guys don't mind Sweet Puffs." Good guests always bring something over for the hosts, and he had no intentions of breaking that rule.

Misaki giggled gently, "Yes I'm sure. I wouldn't offer if I wasn't sure. Hikaru-niisan will be fine with it and Ayumi-neechan isn't here right now. She's in Tokyo. So it's really no imposition."

The pink one blinked and then smiled when he came back with his gift. "Then we have sweets for after the meal. Come on, there's a small kitchen in the back where we can all eat. I made lunch already so we can all share okay?'

"If you'd like, I could tell you more about some of my exploits back in Nagano." He reaches out to Trowler and gives the little pug a bit more attention. The dog appears to be somewhat orally fixated and proceeds to gnaw on his hand.

"You'll be in a doctors care if you're not careful where he bites," Hikarus said as he came from the back room wiping his hands from dealing with some wet sea weed. He smiled brightly at Nayuki adn Misaki.

"So you're from Nagano? Hummm, can't say I've been what's it like there?" Hikaru asked letting them in the back. Misaki shot her brother a look that said 'Be nice' and he just smiled.

Nayuki chuckles and releases his hand from the pug's jaws before bowing formally to Misaki's older brother and trying to match his smile. "It's alright. Even if little Trowler here's not completely immunized, he's just giving out mild bites." He gives the dog another scruffle and follows Misaki inside. "Well... for one thing, it's less windy over at Nagano as the city does not face the ocean as Iburi does. Another thing is how the whole place in general is slowly being developed and re-developed from being centered around Temples and Castles..." He shrugs and brings out his mobile phone, "...into Electronics and Arts Industries." He shook his head as he realized just how much of what he said was a force of habit during his corporate grooming days. He decides to focus his attention to Hikaru, and continues. "It used to flood a lot before when rains would seemingly not end. But with the new water systems implemented under the very streets of Nagano, such are often avertend." He snaps his fingers, as if remembering something worth mentioning. "Oh. You'd love to pay a visit to the Zenkou-Ji. The way the flowers in the Temple grounds are arranged is captivating."

Foot-In-Mouth Disease

"I could take you all there for a vacation in the future, if you like." He beams a smile to Misaki, "I'll just have to pester Sumi if we could crash at their guesthouse. That one's as close as you can legally get to the Zenkou-Ji." If Nayuki could punch himself in the face right now without looking strange, he would have done so. Just like the first stumble he did with the detective on his first month in town, he got careless again. And now, Aoi Hikaru displays just how sharp he can be from behind his kingdom of flowers. Nayuki had to think fast and act natural. He did not want to lose it all now that he's settled in. "My parents?" His eyes begin to wander after meeting Hikaru's gaze.

"Well... My father's Tonbo Hazumu and my mother's Ikeda Yasuna." Nayuki recited his cover details. "They used to work for a big electronics corporation. They used to bring me along to some of the places that their work takes them. I even found myself attending some functions with them." He replied in a casual manner, as those points were true. "But they've recently retired from all that... And they're just rolling money into stocks and investments." That last part, however, was a complete lie. It didn't sit too well with him, but it was necessary for him to keep living in Iburi.

"Uh-huh" Nayuki nodded as he finally took a seat between Misaki and Hikaru. "Sumi used to take the Student Council for retreats there. But I'm sure we can use that place if we let her know early enough."

He then holds his hands up to Hikaru, grinning sheepishly. "Ah. That part it's entirely my fault. Where do I start..." He then claps his hands together, "You see, my folks thought that if they exposed me early to their line of work, that I'd sooner or later develop an ambition for it. They were partly right. I've been doing well with arithmetic and sciences, but mostly because I enjoy making them smile. When they retired, though..." He corrected his posture, sitting upright to prevent himself from leaning onto the table. "Well, my drive to pursue their same career went with it."

He scratches the back of his head, chuckling, "It sounds silly, doesn't it? Anyway, getting somewhat to the point. My folks didn't know that the company they used to work for was headhunting me as early as middleschool. They sponsored some programs and competitions to select the best possible students they can rear to hire when they graduate. I was unfortunately become a constant blip on their radar." Nayuki faced Misaki and tilts his head, "Sumi was also included." He then turned his attention to the flowers on the table, reaching out to gently touch the petals. "I told my parents about that and how it was interfering with my intentions of finding my own way." He let out a sigh, resisting the urge to fall silent from the flood of memories. "Thankfully, they were very understanding and were quick to my defense. They told me that, as much as they wanted to see me in their line of work in the future... They believe I'm very capable of choosing my own path."

Nayuki lets go of the flowers and gives his attention back to Hikaru. "My folks helped me get out of that company's reach by sending me to where they have very little influence." He points to the floor. "That's how I found my way here in Iburi. I got an apartment of my own and enrolled into Nanakamado. Even if my family's well-off, I didn't not want to burn through their fortunes just because of this. So, I told them that I'd work for my living expenses. It took a while to convince them to allow me that luxury, too." He then beats a fist to his chest, "So, here I am, now."

Hikaru sat back and took in what he was saying. So did Misaki but for very differnt reasons. Her ears perked up at the comment about math and science and there was a visible twich in her body as if she was just stuck with a rather sharp needle. Her brother noted this and tapped the table before her, then reached under and squeezed her hand. Which she quickly squeezed back.

"It doesn't sound silly at all," Misaki said softly as she listened and blinked, "You're very lucky that your parents are so understanding about that. Some parents can't get it in their head that sometimes what they want to do isn't really what you want to do. And like you said you wanted them to smile."

Hikaru paused and looked concerned, "Did your family report this company? It seems to me that they're takeng unfair advantage of schools and the children there."

Misaki blinked, "But how do you do it? It's hard to live with another person to make ends meet, let alone live on your own."

[[OOC: I found my notepad file. Fake mother's name is NOT Ikeda Yasuna, but in fact Ikoma Yasuna. Sorry for the confusion. The Landlady was also written wrong T_T She's Isawa Anoushka]]

Nayuki held his hands up to Hikaru and shrugs. "As far as the city and education board is concerned, the company's just upholding their Enrollment-to-Employment system. They've got so much influence in Nagano that it's surprising they haven't abused it yet." Either both of the Aoi siblings did not notice him leaving out the name of the company all this time or they just didn't bother to find out, he's thankful either way. He then turned his attention back to Misaki, putting his hands back on his lap. "Living alone, I was really expecting the worse conditions. I was even considering a second part-time job to make ends meet. But, surprisingly..." He pulls out his wallet, brings out his work ID, and gently places it on the table for the Aoi siblings to scrutinize. "Well... You're both aware of my current employment, right? They have a strangely above-average payroll, and they even have incentives for students. The harder the workload, the higher the rate." He shrugs again, "It's not really in my place to question their accounting, but it's due to them that I'm managing to get by." He pulls out an electronic keycard and sets it down next to his work ID, it has a black magnetic stripe and the numbers 201 embossed onto it.. "My folks helped pay for the Apartment at South District. So, for all intents and purposes, I now own a unit in Karaba Apartments. And all I have to worry about are the utility bills and groceries. The landlady there was also kind enough to accept appointment as my legal guardian here in Iburi."

Nayuki goes back to staring at the flowers on the table. He decided to blurt out everything he was allowed to tell them in one go to cover the most basic questions. It would be bad if he slipped one of these days and provide something from his past. "As for Nanakamado Escalator School... My transfer there was not without conditions. I have to maintain a high average for my marks, or risk losing admission for next year." He smiles fondly to Misaki, "Thanks to you, I managed to adjust well enough to catch up on the current curriculum." He then takes a deep breath and leans back on his seat. "And that's my life in a nutshell. I hope I didn't bore you two with it and inadvertently make you lose your appetites."

Misaki shook her head and blushed slightly, "No you didn't. But if you really feel that this is odd, why haven't you gone to the police about your questions about the company."

"Well they have been in business for a few years now," Hikaru pointed out. "Your parents help pay for your apartment? That's very kind of them, and very kind of your landlady." He wached Nayuki's actions towards Misaki and sat back.

"Now, I would suspect you're hungry so I'll go get the food. Take a break and relax. Okay." Hikaru said and got up. "Just don't flirt too much with my sister."

"F - flir--- But I..." Nayuki froze where he sat, blood rushing to his cheeks. He turns after Hikaru, bleating, "I - It's nothing like that!" In which he realized that Misaki might misunderstand, so he turns his attention to her. "I mean, you're a really wonderful girl, Aoi-san, but I wasn't planning on anything like that." He then facepalmed as he thought what he just said might have gone across wrong. "I mean, it's not that I don't like you. But it's the kind of like that makes me want to be there for you and stuff like that. And not the like kind of like." His hands were waving everywhere as he tried to explain himself to Misaki in panic. "I mean... You're just too precious a friend for me to... I mean... If things went differently, I might've fallen for you, but..."

Just when it appears that Nayuki's about to break, he quickly grabs the wrapper of the sweets box he brought in and immediately put it over his head... which is directly followed by him gently, but repeatedly banging his now concealed face on the table. "Good job, Nayuki... Where did all the etiquette go?" He thought to himself, as he started imagining his best friend rolling on the floor laughing at his folly had she actually been present to witness the whole thing.

Misaki watched him for a moment, then started to giggle and covered her mouth some, "pfffft. Na-Nayuki-sempai...he's just teasing. It's what he does to every boy that comes into the shop. There's nothing to worry about."

She blushed deeply at part of his comment and took a sweet, "Um...thank you for the candy and the compliments then."

"Oh... He's just... joking." Nayuki stopped tapping his forehead against the table and turned to face Misaki's general direction. The bag over his head conceals his relieved expression, but he can be seen visibly sighing to the same effect. Clearing his throat, he slowly takes the bag off to reveal a somber look. "You have a good brother, Aoi-san." He looks over towards the kitchen, "I don't have any siblings, so I don't really know how it's like." He stares at the sweetcakes a bit, shrugging. "Well... Sumi's the closest I've got for a sibling. But I'm sure you can tell the difference."

Nayuki starts idly folding the paperbag into a crude origami turtle. "I meant what I said earlier, Aoi-san. I'm really glad that I met you." He does the finishing touches to the origami turtle and presents it to Misaki. "I don't feel so alienated outside of campus, anymore. I'm not as homesick, but I do keep in touch with my auntie and friends. I've told them about you and the flower shop. Sumi even jokes that I've grown dependent on you." He meets Misaki's gaze for a moment before focusing his attention back to the flowers on the table. "And you know what? ...She's probably right."

Nayuki shakes his head and takes a deeb breath. "I do hope things work out for you and your precious one, Aoi-san. And... as creepy as it may sound... coming from the new guy. I hope I can become someone you can count on." He slowly pushes himself off the table and stands, then bows to her. "Maybe one of these days, you can tell me the story behind your pink hair and contact lenses?" He stopped himself short of saying "And perhaps we can give you a reason to need them no longer." He turns to face the kitchen. "Maybe I should go and help your brother?" And with that, he turns to face the direction of where the older Aoi-san disappeared to.

"What are you doing, Yuuki?" The voice from the back of his head fumed. "Your life's in shambles. You're trying to live a new one. And you think you've got the time to meddle with someone else's problems?!" Mumbling under his breath, he replied. "Yes... If I can help her. Then perhaps there's hope for me yet."

"Yes he's just joking," Misaki smiled though that wasn't the complete truth. She knew that Hikaru wouldn't just joke about that unless he believe there was some truth behind it. But she wasn't about to tell Nayuki that. Seeing him relax she felt a bit better and looked at the table top playing with the plate. "Sometimes having siblings is great, other times it's not so much. Maeko-chan is more of a sister to me then my own older sisters are, which is saying something. But I know what you mean though, friends are different then family."

Misaki flushed when he met her eye and was glad when he looked away. "I...your welcome, but I'm not someone who you should be dependent on Sempai. I'm not strong, I tend to run away when things get scary, and I cry...a lot. It's not a good thing to be dependent on someone whos so...so...weak in a way."

She reached up and grabbed him by the arm, "Tonbo-sempai..."Misaki paused, she didn't want him to wander off just yet, "Tell...Tell me more about Sumi Chan?"
