WHO: Kozue and Misaki and Kiriko GO FIRST YEAR POWER TRIO
WHAT: Kozue drops off the homework at the flower shop.
WHERE: Hanakotoba Flowers.
WHEN: The day that Misaki misses school.
WHY: Curiosity Generosity.

The excuses not to attend after school activities were endless and wonderful. And the excuse to get over to where Misaki was and poke her nose into what appeared to be some kind of dramatic situation? Irresistible. (And even if Misaki was missing school for a totally valid medical reason, well, there was still something going on!) That was what had Kozue walking across town after school, carrying the notes from that day's class session, and looking for Hanakotoba Flowers. She'd plugged it into the GPS function on her cellphone, after wandering around Noodle Alley for a while and realizing that she hadn't the slightest clue where she was going.

And her phone had delivered! She walked in the door of the shop, stopping to admire the flowers in the front, and breathe in the scent for a moment or two. Why hadn't she come here before? It was gorgeous. It had so many of the things she'd really liked about Ikebana—the flowers themselves, the colors and the scents and the way they looked together—and so far, no screaming teachers or old ladies.

Holding onto the homework, she looked around for Misaki's older brother, or somebody else who worked there. "Hello!"

... And who was standing there but Kiriko, leaning over the flowers (and further cultivating her ability to show up in the right place at the right time, go figure). She straightened up at the "hello" and blinked.

"Hey, Kozue-san. What are you doing here?" Coincidence? Or was she aware that Misaki was here, too?

"If I'd have known you were coming here we could have walked together."

Hikaru had been in the back tending to some flowers with Miaki who was playing some with the small puppy that he'd recently gotten. He paused when he heard the jingle of the bells and walked out. The tall young man smiled kindly and waved when he saw the two young women.

"Good afternoon young ladies, welcome to Hanakotoba Flower shop. I'm Aoi Hikaru-san. How may I server you this afternoon." He greeted them. If anything could say he was Misaki's brother it was the dispostion.

Well, they could have walked together, if Kozue hadn't had to dodge Fuuko-sempai from the tennis team by slipping out through a back exit. Honestly, did they really expect her to practice more than once a week? Where did these tennis girls get off with that attitude.

"Oh," she raised the fistful of papers; "I offered to bring Misaki-san her homework. And see how she was feeling." A decidedly nomcommital explanation; Kozue was confident that Kiriko would understand 'how she was feeling' to have more than just the medical sense.

She glanced over at the shop attendant walked in, and bowed; "Oh, Aoi-san. We're Misaki-san's classmates, and since she was sick today, I got extra copies of the work from today. Is she feeling well enough to say hello?"

"Ah so you're Kikiko-chan and Kozue-chan," he smiled brightly. Hikaru glanced at the papers and chuckled, "She is feeling better yes, but seeing that might make her feel ill again. I'll go check."

He bowed some to both of them, "Please look around the shop, any friend of Misa-chan is a friend of mine."

Hikaru walked in the back and Misaki was heard to yelp as the puppy was squirming in her arms.

"Hey hey...no licking my neck! Huh? Kozue-chan and Kiriko-chan. Uh...sure I'll see them."

Misaki walked out carrying a small white and brown pug puppy and smiled at the girls. "Hello Kirko-chan, Hi Kozue-chan. Oh my homework? How was school today?"

Pugs. Kiriko loved pugs. They were just so cute, in that ugly, smushy-face, drooling kind of way. She was reminded of her slobbermonster back home and immediately crossed the floor to Misaki, extending a hand to scratch the puppy's head.

"Hi Misaki-chan. Who's this little guy?"

Kozue could answer the boring questions.

"We're still trying to name him, He just came to my niisan this week. I was thinking of calling him Trowler, like the digging tool becuase he likes to dig in everything. But I'm not sure." Misaki smiled cheerfully.

The puppy happily licked a very wet tongue on Kiriko. "Hey there boy, don't get her messy."

He barked and Misaki quickly asked, "So what happened in school today? How...How was Mae..." she paused and swallowed, "How was Akuba-san?"

Answer the boring questions? When there was a puppy to fawn over? Screw that. Kozue was right there beside Kiriko, greeting the tiny dog, although she jerked back a little at the drooling. Ew, dogslobber…

"School was the same as always. Boring. We reviewed some things for the exams at the end of the month. I grabbed the notes for you." Although now she'd put them down to greet Trowler-or-Whoever.

"How are you feeling, Misaki-chan?" she asked, still preoccupied with the puppy. She was silently deliberating on whether or not she liked the name, and also wondering if Misaki was going to put him down any time soon so she could play with him properly.

"No suprise there, did Toru-kun actually go over the notes I gave him? Or was he busy reading the game magazine he keeps tucked in his history book?" Misaki inquired and set down the pug dog who looked at the two girls and began to roll around and scamper some haveing big eyes and begging. 'Pet me Pet me!'

Misaki rubbed her arm, "Okay I guess. I...I really don't know how to feel. I keep going from being really really sad, to just really angry about it. There's like twenty pages in back just me ranting over and over about what I did, and why she suddenly dislikes me. I could take it if she just hated me, but...it almost feels like the set up for a bad joke. A part of me wants to totally forget about her, forget that we were ever friends, maybe then I would feel better. I just...can't, for some reason. Silly huh? "

She sighed, "I can't go back there, it...it wouldn't work. I'd be begging her to talk to me. I can't even look at her right now, so I'm staying here. If I go home then...God only knows how my mom will nag me." Misaki pushed her hair back. "And I know the rooms are two to a room, so I'm just staying here for now. There's a small room in the back that Niisan set up for me to sleep, and I have..."She paused, "Is Trowler a good name? I'm not sure...Well I have him here to keep me company at night."

Misaki looked embaressed, "I sound like a girlfriend that was just dumped don't I...I just...I really don't know what I feel for Akuba-san. I really did love her, she was my best friend, but...I guess, I wasn't good enough for her. She said that she felt like she was holding me back, making life harder for me. But she never made me feel like that."

"I mean, if I hadn't have made friends with her, then...I wouldn't have had the courage to make friends with you two." She blushed and the blinked.

"Oh! That reminds me..." Misaki rushed behind the counter and pulled out two books, "I was thinking about Tanabata, and well, I made some flower designs up and I was thinking, you know...either I could make kimonos for everyone in the class, or all the Persona users for the festival. Maybe we can go as a group or something."

Oh god. That was an awful lot of feelings. Kozue had started off sort of flabber-gasted at the initial outpouring. But, then again, Kiriko had asked. And who wouldn't expect Misaki to be completely honest? I ought to have seen this one coming.

"She was… Misaki-chan, I don't think it's silly that you're upset, it's natural when you've had a fight with someone you care about." Actually, Kozue did find it just slightly silly. She'd never gotten this torn up about losing a boyfriend, and the suggestion that Maeko and Misaki were closer than a couple was weird and creepy. But she had to focus on making Misaki feel better—the girl was clearly in emotional trouble, and pretty bad emotional trouble, at that. "It's good that your brother has a place for you to go… maybe you could look into getting a room transfer so you can go back to the dorms?"

She knew, after saying it, that maybe that hadn't been the best of suggestions at all. Misaki would probably want to hear all about how her friendship could be fixed.

She looked up at the books, then: "Oh—Misaki-chan, making kimono for the whole class? That's. I can only imagine how much time that would take! And how much money!" All that silk, all that sewing. Kozue had always prided herself on being able to price a kimono pretty efficiently by looking at it—it came from having so many in the house, growing up, and from her grandmother's long lessons on just how much this one cost so you'd better not screw it up, halfbreed brat, and so on. "It'd be so generous. Do you really have the time for it?" She stood up, curious about the flower designs. And, for the moment, incapable of saying no, Misaki, please don't do that, we don't want to put you through so much work. Because it might mean a free kimono!

"That's what Niisan keeps telling me. It's okay to be upset, its better that you are upset because if you're not that meant that the friendship really didn't mean that much to you." Misaki paused some and blushed. "They're so expensive though...I don't know if I could afford it. But...I really don't want to go back to the house. I'll just be nagged to death by my mother about how dumb I was in the first place to go there and that I don't have the capablity to actually do stuff on my own yet, or something to do with the genetic make up of my brain."

Misaki actually giggled brightly at this, "Sure, I figured why not. I get a discount at the store since I shop there a lot, and they sometimes have extra silk that doesn't sell so well so I've got a small stock pile in the back that I can use." She paused and thought, "Plus it's something to keep my mind off things, and it's fun for me to do. But I'll need input from you two on styles and colors and such for what you want."

"Well, I can help with that. And with discounts."

She didn't know a damn thing about sewing, but colours and good deals were certainly within her sphere of expertise - unlike comforting Misaki through her ubiquitous emotional difficulty. She was never too sure how to deal with that kind of thing beyond an awkward pat on the shoulder, and was thankful that Kozue seemed to have fielded that one for her.

"Though, maybe doing simple yukatas would be a better idea?"

Misaki looked excited and nodded, "Yeah! That would work and they would be easier to make and I could make them look unique."

She giggled some, "You're really amazing Kiriko-chan!"

The slight shift in topic was convenient; Kozue had still been trying to figure out how to either console Misaki or shift the topic away, but Kiriko had managed it quite beautifully. "That's a great idea," she agreed. "And people would be able to wear them sooner—wearing full kimono in the summer is painful."
