Who: Maeko, Misaki
What: Discussion.
Where: Outside school, whereever they end up.
When: After Misaki's detention is done with.
Why: There is a time and a place (and, really, a correct method) for friendship speeches. This was only really the first and not quite that.

Maeko sat on the wall outside the main entrance of the school, kicking her legs. The student council meeting had ended about half an hour ago (Kiriko's absence was notable but not particularly surprising) and she was waiting for the detentions to do the same. It was as good a time as any to start on the day's homework and she pulled faces at the notebook on her lap, clearly because it was confusing her deliberately.

She'd already called Misaki's mother, telling her she knew Misaki was in detention but they'd already had plans to update the school website and would it be okay if they still did that, casually mentionning offhand that she was doing it because 'maintaining website for Nanakamado' looked good on a college application. After a few years fruitless mediation she generally knew how to do this.

She frowned and pouted and tapped her pen impatiently on the notebook, waiting for the questions to answer themselves (or at least be less confusing). When they didn't and she noticed a mass of pink approaching she replaced her notebook in her back, pushed off the wall onto her feet, and waved. "Hey, Misa-chan!"

Misaki nodded weakly. She knew Kiriko was going to ring her out for this outburst. She was sure of it and it only made her tremble even more. Why...why did she have to be so weak. Why couldn't she be stronger or smarter. Why couldn't she just do the right thing, know how to calm down a situation. It...It was just too much.

"O-o-okay," Misaki said with a quaking voice.

Kiriko shifted uncomfortably. She had very clearly lost control of the situation and was not entirely certain what to do about it other than clear her throat and watch Kanaye darkly throughout his outburst and subsequent departure.

With Misaki apparently officially turned over to her, she felt the firm, nigh-parental stare she had earlier decided on melting away. Instead, her eyes darted, her fingers coming up to touch almost nervously to her temples. She stepped forward and placed one hand firmly on Misaki's shoulder.

"Misaki-chan. I know you were just trying to help, but these things need to be planned out better. The next time you get an idea like that, please come to me first, okay? I talked to Tachibana-san, and I'll talk to the rest of them for you. You have to keep in mind, we don't want to make our associations any more obvious than they are, either. Just be more careful next time."

She looked to Maeko for backup on this one, only half expecting to recieve it. Akuba coddled her. Kiriko was accessory to that crime now, but right now it seemed like anything firmer would be like stepping on a kitten. Once she was calmer, then...

"I...I...I'm a horrible person," Misaki was trembling and bit her lip. "I kissed Keiichi-kun without thinking about how he would feel about it. I said things to Kanaye-sempai just because I got jealous of Shiori-chan, I got jealous of Kozue-chan because I thought that she...she was going to be special to Keiichi-kun so I...I..."

The pink hair girl shook her head, "I'm like one of those horrible mean girls in Anime or dramas. The one that acts nice but under that she's nothing but a shallow person. I'm the worst to think that I deserve anyone to be friends with me..."

Her eyes were wide with horror, "Dear god...Satou-sempi's right...I'm terrible...just..."

If not for Kiriko's hands on her shoulder Misaki would be on the ground. She was breathing harder then she should and swallowing things. "How Sato-kun must have thought of me, no wonder Oubai-sempai hated the idea of being chained to me...I would hate it too if I were him."

"I was...was so scared that I wouldn't see Kiriko-chan again I didn't think of anything else...I...I'm scared...I don't...I can't...I don't know what to do anymore! I don't...I can't think...I just...who am I...I'm Misaki but...who...who is she...I don't know...I..."

All that came out then was a burbble of sobs and hic ups.

Kiriko was at a complete and total loss. She gave Misaki's shoulder a squeeze, followed up with a tentative smile and then patted the girl on the back as she steered her gently back towards Maeko, rather regretting having intervened at all by this point.

"Honestly, don't beat yourself up over it that much. We can talk later and go eat something together like you said, okay?"

She flashed another smile that felt sufficiently reassuring on her face and gave a quick bow to each of them.

"I'm sorry I interrupted.. Misaki-chan, it isn't that important. We'll talk later, alright? You just need to rest up, and I'm sure Akuba will take care of you."

She would have preferred a hasty retreat, but waited a bit impatiently for something resembling dismissal, eyes trained on Maeko since she seemed the most likely to provide.

Maeko nodded, trying to figure out how to deal with this situation as painlessly as possible.

"Thanks for your time, Ikeda-san." She said, distracted and focussed on Misaki. She guided the distressed first year back to the bench so she wouldn't fall down.

"It's okay, Misa-chan. Everything'll be fine. I'll- There's nothing you've done that can't be fixed. You're just stressed right now, it's natural with everything that's been happenning."

She faked the best smile she could, trying not to think too much about how exactly those problems could be dealt with.

"Let's visit the skypark and watch the streetlights get lit from above, okay?" She suggested. "Your head'll be clearer in a high up place."

...though they'd have to take the stairs.

Misaki slowly nodded, she was still shaking and knew that her family would wonder why she was late. Her mind was a mess, she'd hurt everyone, she'd just hurt Kanaye, god knew how the others saw her now. Crazy, was a word that came to mind, troublesome too.

"Maeko-chan, I feel so tired," she whispere and shook her head, "I don't know if I can keep this up."

"Don't worry." Maeko said. "I'm sure they'll all get along sooner or later. For now just don't worry about them so much and try to rest your head."
