Who: Nurse and Kou.
What: A discussion about business.
Where: The bus stop.
When: After school.
Why: To frighten the schoolboy with needles.

At the bus stop, Kouchisei balanced his shopping, cast his gaze left and right in the direction of the traffic, held the bags tighter and waiting patiently for the bus. He was looking forward to getting home. Classmates were busy talking about the reason he always wore his scarf and if he did so for longer than a week he knew they'd doubt the validity of his cold. When the bus failed to show, Kouchisei put his shopping on the floor.

This wasn't feasable. He knew Kiriko would apologise once for the abberations of her dungeon and continue leading as effectively as before - or perhaps not. The difference was there – she didn't seem as blunt as before, but he didn't know her too well and about the only thing he knew was that being in that place... that situation... changed you. It made everything different and he hated it.

He quickly checked that the bus was coming. It wasn't, and he pulled his scarf.

A shiver ran down Kouchisei's neck, all the way to the base of his spine. He hadn't noticed somebody in his personal space - and when he turned he thought especially somebody like her. A moment later, he was helping her by collecting some of the fruit and then the apple that fell.

He didn't know what to think of the nurse. She couldn't be a quack like people were saying, otherwise she'd not have been hired.

"Uh, hi." A pause. "It's not really surprising, I guess. It's a bus stop."

Hana ignored the remark about the bus stop. She had already gone into examination mode and was leaning towards him, appraising him, looking for something immediately wrong. One hand shot out and tugged at the end of his scarf.

"How are you feeling, Kou-kun? Isn't your scarf hot? I heard other students saying you had a cold, you could have come and seen me, you know."

She had to lean back away from him to balance her groceries, which had started spilling out again due to complete obliviousness on her part.

"Oh, and weren't you saying you wanted to be my new assistant, before?"

Well, I've been fighting personifications of an individual's true feelings, thoughts and innermost doubts with some classmates. One of their... Shadows... wanted to kill us. They live in a place called Paradise - it's anything but - and seem to abduct their real selves.

Kouchisei remained emotionless. A snort would have given her reason to enquire further, and he really wanted this position. It felt strange being under somebody else's command, but he respected her profession and the knowledge it required.

"I'm fine. Too many want antibiotics for the smallest things." He pushed his glasses. "It would be good... for when I go to university. Too many people say things about you and I know they're wrong so..."

"Ahhh, see, that's how things used to be!" Hana said sagely, one finger raised in the air. "It just isn't the case anymore - now people all say 'all those other people, they take too much medication, I'm going to go natural.' No respect for a doctor's diagnosis! For scientific progress! For medicine!"

Hana pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose, finally noticing the hole and the leaking fruit. She picked up wat had fallen, again, and this time held the bag with her hand over the rip. When it was back in a good position, she looked over to Kou.

"It's good that you know how to filter out the gossip. Bad things always sound more interesting, but you have to remember, a grain of salt!" She was back to sage nodding. "When do you want to start?"

"I don't listen to gossip," Kouchisei said. "Mostly it's lies and scandal. This country is getting worse."

It was a necessary lie. Besides keeping secret what would be construed as fantasy, he was listening to gossip to try and ascertain if anybody was likely to disappear - mostly at the group's request. He wasn't one for meetings and such didn't bring information to the table that nobody else knew. He liked it like that.

He picked up his bag and held it in his arms. It made him feel safer and not guilty. Lying was a bad thing.

"How about Thursday?"
