Who: Kanaye and open.
What: Talking, possibly more.
When:  Weekend after Kiriko's dungeon
Where: Around town
Why: <strike>I need more threads.</strike> Kanaye is bored.

BOREDOM. Crushing, terrible boredom Honestly, Kanaye wonders sometimes why he bothers to go out without some friends. Random flirting is fun, but it gets him no where, and he can't do anything stupid because he can't think of any. This is terrible news to his parents friends. They can't think of a reason to complain about him if he doesn't do anything stupid. Naturally, he needs to remedy this, and fast. But with what? And with who?

Pondering these questions, and more (what did the girl's panties look like? Is Toru actually gay? Is Yoshimi a lesbian?), Kanaye really wasn't paying attention. He bumped into a lot of people and a lot of things. The things hurt more then the people. Steel beams and walls aren't exactly the softest of substances. Bruised, hurting, and still as bored as he was when he started, he just sat down on a park bench. Maybe throw a party or something? A "YAY WE DIDN'T DIE!" party? Hmm....

"Yeah, that would be kind of scary..." he said, shuddering, mainly for effect. "I'm not much a fan of getting run over by cars. And..." he said, smiling, "thanks, Maechan. That means a lot."

"For now, yes, but what about tomorrow? Or next week? He's still gonna be there and he's probably still gonna be a dick. And speaking of Keikun, he's getting really irritated really easily lately. Do you know why?" Kanaye asked innocently.

"I doubt many people are fans of being hit by cars."

"For as long as it takes. I'm not sure there really is a long-term solution and we need his help. Once people stop disappearing then we can stop just putting up with him but at this point anything else is going to lead to a worse situation." Maeko said. "Ito-san? I think he was upset because Kondo-san was put in danger. Or maybe hes embarassed because of his dad being a teacher now?"

"True, but what if someone dies because we're too busy arguing with each other? That would be horrible. I mean, I know that's kind of obvious, but it's more horrible then usual, because WE COULD HAVE STOPPED IT, yaknow? So it's just really really horrible." Kanaye said, raging again. Calming himself with images of girls in bikinis, he nodded. "Probably Kochan. Dunno why, she's perfectly ok with taking care of herself..."

Maeko nodded. She could read the tone there. Kanaye was just as concerned about something like that happenning as she was. "If something happened to Misa-chan because everyone was arguing, I'd-" She cut herself off, partly because she wasn't sure how that sentence should end. "But I don't think that there's anything that we can do that wouldn't just cause more conflict. Maybe it'd be best to just seperate Shirai-san from the people he's most likely to hurt. Sagaki-senpai's less of a worry, he's a liar and..." She cut herself off again. "-But he's not as likely to hurt someone unprovoked."

Kanaye raised an eyebrow. "Really, Maechan? What WOULD you do if something would happen to Misachan? I agree about the separation thing if possible, but HOW, exactly, is Tom a liar? I mean, he's a dick, but he seems to be an honest dick." Kanaye was suspicious, and when Kanaye gets suspicious... "Maechan, I want you to know that I'm going to keep asking until you tell me what you were going to say."

"I don't...I don't think I know." Maeko admitted. She didn't have the energy to lie. "I want to think that I'd hurt whatever hurt her tenfold but...she's stronger than I am now. If the worst happened...I'd probably just go home and go back to translating."

She shook her head and looked up before turning back to answer the second question. Being honest, to Kayaye of all people, was bizarre. But right now she was too tred to lie and couldn't find the motivation to stand up and walk home and the alternative was being pestered and forced to think about it anyway.

"I made a deal with Sagaki-senpai and gave him something so he wouldn't go near Misaki again and I believed him and then he hurt her."

"Maechan, Misaki is a strong girl. She can take care of herself. Well, maybe not now," Kanaye said gently, "but in a few years she'll be independent and strong and happy. And what will you be?" he asked sadly. "Try to remember, you're your own person."

Kanaye blinked. "...Hurt her HOW? Do I need another reason to kick his face in? Maybe me, Reizo, and Keiichi could team up to maul him. IT'll fall apart immediately but it's the thought that counts."

Maeko didn't look comforted by that. At all. The look on her face was the same one usually reserved for things like falling elevators.

"I don't...want...to be my own person." She mumbled, choked, shaking her head quickly and changing the subject. She didn't have an own person that she was at all proud of.

"He grabbed her. She said it was her fault but-" Maeko paused for a second, shaking off memories of Misaki in tears apologising to her over and over for being strange and being stupid and crying so easily. "-she says a lot of things are her fault."

She shook her head. "It was a while ago now, I think she's forgotten. As long as he's on the team I won't bother him, we need him."

...Well Kanaye just screwed this up. It's time for panicked backtracking, if at all possible.
"...Um...ok...." he said before going along with her subject changing as fast as possible. "Do you know WHY he grabbed her? Where? Was he trying to cop a feel? Maybe trying to kill her? And I doubt she'd forget about something like that. Maybe we can call her and ask her..." he said quickly, taking out his cell phone. "Do you know her number? Well of course you do," he facepalmed, "but could you tell it to me? I want to call her about that."

"We didn't talk about it much. She just said it was her fault and asked me not to do anything about it." Maeko said, shaking her head, trying her best to quickly revert back to being businesslike (if still exhausted). "I shouldn't give away her number without her permission...I'll send her a message and ask her to text you if you want."

Kanaye pouted a bit, but smiled. Even if it WAS Maeko, he had managed to make her happy (or at least not sad). This was always the best thing to do in his book. "Well, alright. Would you mind doing that for me?"
Kanaye tapped his hand on his chin a bit before asking "Hey, do you know if Misaki likes anyone? I want to give her some advice, so...hey, maybe I could give YOU some advice!" he said happily. "You want some?"

"I've never asked her." Maeko said, thinking. She'd cheerfully ignored everything that she didn't want to know about Misaki and one of those things was the possibility of her ever needing someone more than she needed her. The way she acted around Toru was clearly just being more friendly to make him feel welcome and prove she didn't blame him for the dungeon and her nervousness there only indicated that she was worried about hurting his feelings. Obviously.

"I don't think so. She seems too pure, you know?"

She sent the message to Misaki quickly and looked up again. "I don't think so. Whatever advice you have to give doesn't seem to work."

Kanaye scoffed. So Maeko didn't know? Wow. Potential blackmail material on the blackmailer? Sweet~!

"Yeah. She'll get some guy asking her for a quick lay and she'll think he wants to be friends and talk over coffee." Kanaye said sighing. "It's a bit of a problem."

Kanaye just smiled sheepishly. "That makes two of us then. We should make a club: people who suck at getting dates, or PWSAGD for short. We could make jackets."

Misaki stared at the message and texted back to Maeko, "Um...it's okay if you give him my number. Why?"

She wasn't actually to far from them a few blocks at most at the fabric store.

"She says it's fine." Maeko said, holding out her phone to let Kanaye copy the number from the screen.

She nodded. "That's why I have to watch out for her. There's people who'll destroy her just because she doesn't think she needs to defend herself."

Maeko laughed. He had a point, it wasn't like she had a better record with relationships than he did. "Not really a club I think anyone'd be proud to be a member of."

Kanaye would have pelvic trusted if it was at all appropriate. He compromised by fist pumping the air. "Suh-weet!" he shouted as he entered the number into his phone. He'll call her later.

Kanaye straightened up a bit, as much as Kanaye can be serious, and he nodded. "Exactly. Someone needs to tell her that life isn't all roses and kittens. Roses have thorns, and kittens have claws."

Kanaye smiled at her laughter. It's a start. "Well, you never know. Maybe some asexuals would be happy about it?" he said, pausing. "Do we KNOW any asexuals?" he asked?

Maeko shook her head at Kanaye's reaction, and then more seriously at his suggestion. "I've tried. I've been trying for years now."

"I don't think that they would be trying to get dates." She pointed out. "And I wouldn't know. It's not something I ask people."

Kanaye slammed his fist into his palm. "Well we need to try harder! We shall have an intervention. We shall surprise her and show her scenes from horrible atrocities across the globe, such as racism, sexism, and death." Kanaye blinked. "Well, maybe not, but you get my point."

He laughed. "Fair point. Anyway, you have to admit, we DO suck at getting dates. Me cause I annoy the girls, you cause you scare the boys off."

Kanaye laughed sheepishly. "Given the way things are headed, that's gonna happen anyway." he said morbidly.

Kanaye nodded. "True. Therefore, we shall attempt to get dates. Keiichi has Kozue. We don't have the pleasure of having someone as easy as Kozue, but we shall triumph!" he shouted, posing.

Maeko shook her head. "I don't have time for stuff like that." She almost added 'not even if it was quick as Kondo-san' but amusing as it sounded in her head she had not entirely lost the brain-to-mouth filter. Not an appropriate thing to say.

There was no way to word 'I don't have time for anyone other than Misa-chan right now' that wouldn't provoke jokes, despite the fact that it was true.

So she left it at repeating "I don't have time." and shaking her head. "Especially with getting people out of that place. Right now there's way more important things to be concentrating on."

Kanaye sighed. "I know about that, Maechan, but Keikun and Kochan have a relationship and it seems to be going fine. And who says we can't enjoy ourselves while we save people? If we get TOO serious, we become another Tom." he said, shuddering. "That would be hell..."

Kanaye nodded slowly. "Yeah, but they both have clubs. And we don't have to go there EVERY day. No one's missing right now, right? If you're worried about not being with them enough, just ask someone else in the Team. I mean, none of them are exactly normal, but Toru and Yuuto are nice enough...well, Toru's gay and Yuuto's a prude, but still."
