Who: Tom, Renju and anyone else brave enough
What: Tom and Renju think about going into Paradise
Where: Room 22-c
When: There are no classes and no clubs
Why: Cause I need more role playing!

Thomas sat in classroom 22-C. He had cleared off the teachers desk, and had set out the materials, various powders, and chemicals in small glass containers. He had set out pieces of fabric to work on, and a printed set of instructions that he repeatedly looked at.
He began pulling on his gloves, and let out a breath.

"Okay... I think I'm ready."

Renju simply couldn't push Paradise from her mind. Seeing the ruined Nanakamado that Aomori's mind had apparently created had driven home the gravity of the situation. She needed to go back in there, needed to prepare in case something happened.

She'd made sure her phone was charged and gone back to the Anti-Bullying Club room to get her weapons; then, keeping in mind what Tom had said earlier, shifted to the music room in case she was spotted going into Paradise. She'd gone at the half hour, just so she could be sure she had enough time to get ready if need be.

What she hadn't expected was for someone else to be there, but if she had, it would be Sagaki-senpai. Everything he had in front of him looked more suited to a chemistry lab than a (former) music room, though. "Sagaki-senpai? What are you doing?"

"I'm trying..."

Tom leaned down dropping a bit of powder into a cloth.

"... to mix up some smoke bombs. I can't do it in my dorm room because I don't want..."

Tom paused and looked up at Renju. He realized he didn't need to mention the puppy to people who didn't already know. It was likely that either of the two girls who knew about him would spread around, but there was no reason to hurry along the process.

"...want my things... to get messy."

Smoke bombs. That was... not the answer Renju had expected. Then again, she was starting to learn that that was likely to be typical with Tom. Still, she didn't know of any adults with that sort of knowledge, let alone fellow students.

"You're very knowledgeable, senpai," she remarked, taking up her spot on the desk from their previous meeting. She paused briefly, remembering something, and a slight frown crossed her face. "The Shadows didn't seem to be affected by the smoke in Aomori-sensei's..." She groped for the right word. "... place, though," she finished, not particularly satisfied with what she'd found. "Will they really help?"

Tom looked over his directions again.

"Oh these aren't for Paradise."

He glanced up at Renju with a look that showed he was being completely honest with her.

"I get in so many fights, I figure one day I may be outmatched. It'd be good to have a quick escape ready if need be."

He shrugged, and cocked his head ot the side, obviously contemplating as he reached out for a powder.

"Shadows don't seem to require air to breathe, and if... hmmm if nothing else the fact that Paradise can be mentally influenced suggests that Shadows are malleable enough to change their shape or their inherent properties.

And yet they do seem to have weaknesses. Funny that."

Renju paused again, opened her mouth to say something, closed it again, and simply shook her head. Really, she couldn't argue with that logic, but...

"I don't know if I've really seen enough to speculate, but..." And that reminded her suddenly of the reason she'd originally come here. Hurriedly, she dug her cell phone out of her bag and checked the time. Fortunately, she still had a few minutes to spare. "I was going to go in today to practice. I may do some observation while I'm there, now that you've mentioned it."

	Tom nodded. "I've wanted to go into Paradise, but I can't do it alone." He pulled off his gloves, then picked up the lids for his chemicals. "I'd love the chance to observe Paradise when there's no victims inside." He finished packing up his things. "Are you sure you don't want to take anyone from your team?" "'Your' team?"

The question was out before Renju could really process it, but it wasn't as though she was the type not to own up to it. "You've worked with them for longer than I have, haven't you? And it looked like you took a sort of leadership position at the meeting and in Paradise. It seems to me like you're more a part of the team than I am."

It was said without bitterness or annoyance or anything of the sort--it was a simple and matter-of-fact statement of how the situation seemed to her.

Tom reached up his sleeve and pulled out his knife then flipped it open to make sure he had it at the ready.

"I'm not going to join the team just because I have a persona. And I not going to just assume membership either. I work better by myself."

He flipped the knife closed and looked at Renju.

"Besides Ikeda is the one who really took charge. Speaking of which, you should let her know your planning this. Or at least let one of them know where... we'll be, just in case."

This time Renju was entirely unconvinced, but the time on her cell was slowly creeping up towards the hour, so she set aside the subject for now. "I hadn't been planning to." Truth be told, the thought actually hadn't crossed her mind. "I think I can handle a short trip by myself, and if not, I can just leave."

A moment later, she did a bit of a double-take. "'We', you said? Are you volunteering to come along, senpai?"

	Tom pulled out his cellphone and checked it's battery life. Once confirmed he put it in his pocket and looked at the tiny 2nd year. "Of course. You don't have any combat training, and very little experience with Paradise. Plus, like I said, I wanted to observe Paradise when there isn't a victim in it." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"I just didn't think..." She paused, shook her head again, and finally looked back up with a shrug. "Anyway, I'd be stupid to say no."

With that, she hopped off the desk and headed for the door. Once she was there, she shrugged her bag off her shoulder and crouched down next to it, pulling out the kama she'd picked up during the school meeting, their blades wrapped in scarves that she carefully unwound and set on top of the bag.

"I would say we should try to see if we can't create some sort of base of operations on the other side, a place to keep our weapons, and possibly train with them."

He thought for a moment, and looked to Renju.

"We already know that dungeons don't go away even after the Shadow is gone. So there's not too much we need to look into.

We can try and keep track of any shadows we fight and their weaknesses. Though if you want to practice with you're weapons I can help with that outside of Paradise."

Tom rolled his shoulders, and took a deep breath. Then nodded to her to open the door.

Her phone chimed in her hand, and she quickly tucked it under her arm and swung the door open. Tom walked forward to the door. As it opened he looked down toward Renju. He'd already observed these people from afar, but after his encounter with Akuba, he thought it'd be a good idea to begin probing them, figuring them out. To understand them in case they were replaced by their shadow selves, the killer tried to fake a message from them.

"So is it morality that drives you into Paradies?"

"Morality?"

That was an unexpected question. Then again, everything he said seemed to throw her off somehow. "No, it's..."

There was a bit of a beat before she finished her answer. Why had she decided to do all this? She could have just ignored Paradise entirely, ignored the existence of her Persona, and gone on with her life. Instead she'd gotten embroiled in everything almost without realizing it, and certainly without really thinking about it. Why?

She shook her head quickly before answering. "I have this power--it's not something I could just ignore." It wasn't a completely satisfactory answer, but it was sufficient. She wasn't exactly planning to bare her soul to him. Or to herself, but that thought was hurriedly suppressed.

"Actually it is."

Tom shrugged and looked at her, pulling out one of his knives.

"I mean the power only comes out in Paradise, so as long as you don't come into Paradise you can completely ignore it.

But... actually... you're one of the only ones entering Paradise when no one's in danger."

He rolled his shoulders and paused for a moment.

"Actually, now that I think about it, given how easy it would be to do so, I'm surprised no one else has bothered to ignore this."
