Too young? PFT!
Who: Emi and Kiriko.
What: Insults + Weaseling a party invitation.
Where: Outside the school for now.
When: After school the day Kiriko invited everyone else to her party.
Why: EMI DIDN'T GET INVITED WUT.

Emi took a deep breath and straightened her posture as she stood at the exit of the school. She wanted to make sure that she was cool, calm, and composed before talking to Kiriko. She wasn't going to let the fact she was actually quite upset show. Too young for a fancy party? Pft!!

Even if she was younger it was only three years. Some of the teens were three years apart themselves in that high school, and yet that difference went by completely ignored. It just wasn't right to have those sorts of double standards and she wasn't going to stand by and watch as she got nudged out of the party while the rest of them had fun. With a final nod to herself, she looked around for the older female and made her way over.

"Ikeda-san," she greeted in a calm, but obviously displeased tone.

"Under is under, so it is stupid! And I don't even want to drink!! I'm not some smelly, idiotic, drunken moron like the rest of you might be. All it does is make you fat, stupid, and sick!" She snapped at the question, but quickly recomposed herself afterwards.

Emi finally looked back at her with an angry pouty expression. "It's just not fair that I can't go."

Kiriko had to keep from laughing at the pouty face. She tried not to patronize Emi, she really did - but sometimes she just made it so easy, and so Kiriko could scarcely resist patting her gently on the head.

"Oh yeah? So you've never asked your parents to let you have a sip of wine or anything like that? Hmmm, I don't think that's the truth."

She chuckled to herself and leaned back against the wall.

"Why do you want to come anyway if we're all smelly, idiotic drunken morons? Doesn't sound like a good time to me."

Emi scowled, but just rolled her eyes as she was patted on the head. She wasn't a child. Nor was she a dog, even though she probably would've growled at the moment if she was. That girl seriously need to not touch her head.

"Look, I'm just trying to make the point that I should be able to go if I want to! It's just rude to invite everyone except for one person, especially when you don't have any good reasons to back up that decisions," she tried to explain without making it too obvious that she didn't want to be left out. "You wouldn't want someone doing that to you!"

"I don't think I would care that much," she shrugged. Actually, it probably depended on the party and who was doing the snubbing. She did feel bad about not inviting Emi, but what was she supposed to do? You couldn't just let a kid in to run around, no matter how mature. Somebody would have to keep an eye on her.

A lightbulb went off.

"Do you think you're pretty mature, Hayashi-chan? What if there's something at the party you can't handle?"

"I'm more mature than most of the people going. I can handle anything!"

Really, she wasn't entirely sure about that last bit. Considering that she really had no idea went through the brains of most of the rest of the group, she was really unsure of what Kiriko has in mind. The only plus was that she definitely knew that her first statement was true.

"Well, if you say so, then I'll let you come on a few conditions, as long as you think you can handle them."

Kiriko raised her index finger into the air.

"Number one: You're not allowed to drink under any circumstances whatsoever, understand? Not one drop. You can have ginger ale and put it in a champagne glass and that's it."

She held up another finger.

"Number two: You don't tell your parents I let you come to a party with alcohol and a bunch of strangers. That one should be obvious."

The third came with another amused little smirk.

"Number three: You have to stick close to Shirai for the night."

Well, that was easy. She hadn't thought she'd be able to talk Kiriko into letting her go that quickly, but just as well. She did her best not to look as excited as she was and just nodded along with the conditions.

No drinking? That was fine. She didn't really have any interest in that to begin with. People really did just act stupid when they drank.

The second? Well, yeah, duh. Her parents would trust her to be responsible in the situation, but they probably wouldn't have been happy with her going if they knew. Then came the third. She nodded at first, but immediately paused. Emi looked at her as if she was crazy.

"I have to what?"

"Well someone has to babysit," she answered with a click of her tongue, balling her hands on her hips. She had deliberately avoided mentioning exactly who was babysitting who, just to see how Emi reacted first.

Babysit. That was an insult to somebody, but she wasn't really who it was an insult to. After Reizo's apparent mishaps on the field trip she would assume that she'd be watching him first, but who knew. Either way, she knew she wasn't really in a position where she could refuse. She sighed once more and gave a final nod. "Fine, whatever."

"Excellent!" Kiriko clapped her hands together as if that was all settled, then. "I'm going to need you to keep an eye on him for the whole party, then. If he breaks anything I'm not inviting you to anything until you're eighteen, understand?"

"Yeah, yeah, I understand." No, she really didn't. How was she supposed to keep that big lummox from breaking something if he wanted to?! And eighteen? Really? There she went with the double standards again. Emi really didn't feel like she should have to remind Kiriko of that. She almost felt like the older girl was trying to set her up for failure just so she'd have an excuse not to invite her the next time something similar rolled around.

Well, that was just fine. It gave her all the more reason to prove that she could handle the situation. If something happened.... she would just have to think of something! She was generally good at thinking on her feet, so she had faith she could come up with something if anything did happen. Sure, she was uneasy about it, but she was too determined to let that get in her way.

"Perfect. He sort of likes you, and you're too young for him to bully, so if he tries to do anything bad just kick him really hard in the shins."

Kiriko kicked at the air to demonstrate appropriate shin-kicking technique, but had the feeling that Emi was already quite practiced at this. She felt better knowing that someone would be tailing Reizo. She only half expected him to "accidentally" break a table or two, but half was certainly worth sticking with a chaperone in her mind.

"Oh, and I'll probably tell him that he's supposed to be watching you, so try not to let it slip that it's the other way around."

Emi wasn't really sure about the too young for him to bully part. It was more than her just being stubborn about it still, too. It was more of a she didn't really consider that a intimidating bully would care what age a person was. Still, she wasn't going to back down. She mimic the kicking motion that Kiriko made and nodded. She wasn't really that practiced with it since she was always more of a verbal bully than anything else, but she could certainly catch on fast if it worked.

"Got it. I'll keep my mouth shut."

"Great. And when you inevitably leave halfway through because all the loud music and dancing and partying is aggravating you, come see me before you go."

Kiriko could not suppress her grin. She was mostly taunting the younger girl now, but it was more or less what she expected to happen.
