Who: Misaki and Kanaye
What: Hide and go seek
Where: School, where else
When: Early afternoon just a while after the announcement
Why: Because Maeko's worried that her little kitty will drown herself in the river.



Breathing wasn't easy at the moment Misaki had discovered, she was trying to kick a lone half deflated soccer ball into the net, hoping, maybe that today was a dream, that this whole thing was some sort of dream that she could wake up from. Maybe if I kick the ball, just once, I'll wake up and Aomori sensei will be here and Sato sensei will be here...and...and all this bad stuff won't be happening.

She brushed the tears from her eyes as she tried over and over. He'd been nice enough to check on her when she had been 'sick', that was Aomori sensei. He cared about such matters, and what had she done, skipped his classes because she didn't want to feel ashamed for not being able to do something as simple as kick a ball! She wanted to throw up. This was supposed to be a happy day...her birthday, the day she turned sixteen! Now all she felt was miserable. A man...no, her sensei, was dead, and all because they couldn't get along. This was there fault. No it was more her fault. Maybe if she had been nicer, or less dependent, Maeko wouldn't be fighting with Satou, and then Keiichi and Shiori wouldn't be having trouble and...

The pink haired girl tried to kick the ball again and again, but the sorry state made it unable to fly, and the muddy ground from early rain had caused the field to be hard to play on. All she manged to do was send the ball a few feet, and make mud fly and spatter with a squicky squelching noise as it hit the ground once more. Her uniform was a mess, as was her face, but Misaki didn't care at the moment. She wondered how the soccer team was going to take it...how the baseball and basketball teams would too. It was...terrible.

Running over to the ball she slipped and landed on her knees in the mud and winced. Picking up the ball she bit her lip and asked it, "Why...Why did this have to happen? Why couldn't we stop it! This wasn't supposed to happen. We're supposed to be good guys, heroes. We're supposed to save people not...not let them die. We...why did we fail? Why give us this when we can't actually do anything with it? Why couldn't we save him..." she looked down at the deflated ball, "Where did we go wrong?"

"Thank you Satou-sempai," she smiled at him then tilted her head some wondering.

"Sempai can I ask you a dumb question, and you don't have to answer it just came into my head." Misaki said as she pulled out her keys to lock the door. "Do you think that Ishino-sensei might have been seeing Aomori-sensei?"

"Glad to help, Misachan!" he said as he smiled as her as she passed him by.

Kanaye was curious as to her question, and when she finally asked it, he thought a little before answers. "It's possible. I don't know why it would be a problem unless either of them were married, but maybe they were just close friends."

"Maybe, but...doesn't it seem odd to you though Sempai," she walked beside him thinking about it a moment or two. "He was with us the whole time. But like Toru-kun's other person and Oubai-sempai's other person, they weren't here as long. Do you think that the shadows are different for adults?"

"Oh by the way, I got a strange text from Shiori-chan during the trip. She said something about being me for a bit?"

Kanaye thought about this for a bit. "Well, honestly, Misachan, we don't know how long Aomori was in there. For all we know, he could've been missing for the same amount of time as Toru and Kou and we just didn't notice it?" Kanaye didn't believe himself as he said it. This didn't make any sense whatsoever, but Misaki does not need to hear that.

"Oh, that was when she was taking me back to camp."

"Hummm, you know that doesn't make a lot of sense right? But...hummmm, I don't know it seems really odd that it was a teacher. Why not another student. Unless it has something to do with Aomori being rude to weaker students, but that doesn't sound like him." She said as she put a few clips in her hair.

"Why NOT a teacher? Remember, Misachan, we can absolutely no idea who is doing this or why. It could be someone completely unrelated that just happens to use the school for his victims." Kanaye BSed.

"Remember when Reizo slammed me against a tree? She brought be back to the camp. Quite nice of her."

"I suppose, but what would a teacher want with students? You know this sounds like one of those bad B-Anime movies I watched a few nights ago. Only we don't have a bunch of cheerleaders in tight sweaters," she muttered looking up at the sky as she spoke. Glancing behind her she added, "Of course, there are enough strong people in our group that we don't have to worry about being taken."

Misaki winced some, She remembered.

"Yes and I told him off about that. Though I think I suprised myself. I just...it was wrong of him to do that to you sempai." The pink haired one gave a nod and smiled, "Mmm humm, Shiori chan is wonderful like that...but...Satou-sempai, um...why did she say you called her by my name?"

"I don't know, what would students want with other students? Let's just leave who is doing this to Tom and just deal with saving the people we can, alright?" Kanaye said reassuringly, trying not to imagine the cast in tight sweaters and failing miserably.

Kanaye just stopped and stared. "Misachan, that was nice and all," he said, twitching. "But Reizo is in the yakuza and about a foot taller then you. Just...try not to get on his bad side?" he said before wincing. "We were discussing you, and I accidentally called her by your name."

"Well you know the school is very big on grades, maybe someone got jealous and started this? I hope that's not the case though, that would be really scary." Misaki countered and instictively reached for her wrist when mentioning Tom. "Well I wonder if that's really a good idea. I don't know...sometimes Sagaki-san actually scares me."

She laughed some, and smiled, "He's not all that bad, but he tries to show off his toughness. I don't think he would really hurt a girl. He just doesn't seem to like you for some reason, Sempai." Misaki smiled brightly, and then covered a laugh. "You did, I hope she didn't get upset."

"...What? Seriously, I don't think that is the case. Kou is one of the top of the class, yeah, but Toru isn't even in Kou's grade level, and Aomori is a PE teacher. Why would they have to do with grades?"

Noticing Misaki's movement, Kanaye's eyes narrowed. "Only sometimes? Looks like he did quite a job on you. You don't need to hide it, Misachan. No one else likes him either."

Kanaye really doubted that, but he wasn't going to push further. He didn't really want to push further when it comes to his faux pas with Shiori, either, but he didn't have much of a choice. "Yeah, but it got smoothed over quickly."

"Like I said it would be something out of a bad movie. Though you have to admit there are some simmilarities between Oubai-sempai and Toru-kun. For one thing, both didn't have a lot of intereaction before this all started," Misaki paused and muttered, "Come to think of it neither did Sato-san. I mean, Toru-kun mostly stayed in his room all the time, and Oubai-sempai had issues with his family, and I know Sato-san was always quiet...So...But Aomori-sensei...that doesn't fit in. Or maybe I"m not seeing something."

She stopped walking at the stree and seemed to think, then looked at Kanaye, "What if Aomori-sensei knew something about the person that had attacked the others. I mean, they're all boys, they were all not in gym and considered isolated, and um....maybe the person that did this didn't like the fact that they were getting away with missing PE while the rest of the class didn't."

Misaki laughed, "Or maybe I'm thinking about this too hard. The whole mystery thing is exciting to me Sempai, sorry."

She quickly looked around and crossed the street with him heading towards the shopping district. She tried to ignore the comment he made about Tom but carefully added, "There are worse things then a bruised wrist Sempai. He just didn't want me to go in his desk. I'm okay now. Seriously. Maybe if we give him some time...maybe we can get to know him better."

Misaki grinned when she heard about the smoothing over, "That's good. I've been worried about her lately since she and Keiichi-sempai were having troubles. She's lucky to have a friend like you in her life Sempai."

"Yeah, but Aomori was well liked and popular among the students. I don't think they're going for a specific pattern,really." Kanaye said, trying to get to another topic.

Raising an eyebrow, he asked "Why, exactly, did you want to go into his desk? That's just kind of creepy." he pointed out.

Kanaye laughed nervously and scratched the back of his head. "Uh, thanks, Misaki? And I still don't know why you think that she and Keiichi would make a good couple."

"Hummm, yes, I guess," Misaki shrugged and noticed that the topic was bothering him so she quickly swiched it to something easier. "By the way, when is your Birthday Sempai."

Giggling some she shook her head, "Well I thought maybe he wasn't really a student, or he might have been behind things. I wanted to check it out. Only he caught me and...well it didn't go so well. Maeko-chan saw us and attacked him with her book...Can a book be considered a deadly weapon?"

"Well it's because they seemed to get along really well at the cooking club, and he talked about her a lot. Not to mention the fact that they kept going out to eat noodles all the time and she seemed really happy when she was around him." She paused and smiled, "You like her too don't you Sempai."

Oh hey a topic change. Convenient. Kanaye smiled as he answered "September 26, Misachan."

Kanaye raised an eyebrow. "Really? You decided to check out someone's desk just in case they might be a murderer?" Kanaye sighed. Misaki was cute but not high on the intelligence thing. "Figures. With Maeko, everything is a deadly weapon. Can't you just ask her to lighten up?" he begged. "Seriously, she is scaring me.

Kanaye sighed. "Those are called friends, Misachan. I could pretty much say the same for you and Maeko, but you don't seem to think you two are a couple, right?" he asked before nodding excitedly. "Yep!"

"Hummm so that would make you a Libra, and I'm a Taurus. Sun signs are kind of funny," Misaki said, "Do you know what you want for your birthday this year, you're turning 18 aren't you?"

"Well I was just trying to help out some what. I didn't intend to do anything there, it was just the fact that he cornered Oubai-sempai, I wanted to know what sort of person he was. And they say that a student's desk says a lot about them." Misaki explained with a smile. Sighing some she shook her head, "I could try, but I don't know. Maeko-chan...it's funny, when we were younger she didn't like me very much. She was with the girls that were teasing me. Then one day she just started to protect me. I never understood it, I didn't really question it either, because I was glad to have a real friend. The other two girls that had been my friends...well both left, and they kind of weren't the best of choices."

"I know what friends are Sempai, and no I don't," she laughed then smiled, "So are you going to take her out to the festivals this summer?"

"You're a bull? Well, looks like someone has hidden depths!" Kanaye said happily. "I don't really know. I could probably just buy almost anything I want or needed, so it'd have to be homemade or something." he smiled at her. "Maybe one of your outfits? That sounds nice."

"Yeah, I get that you are trying to help, Miaschan." Kanaye started. "But going through someone's stuff unless you have a warrant or something is just not done. It's stalkerish. It's something Tom himself would do."

He paused. Well, that would explain Maeko's devotion to Misaki. A sense of guilt can do many things. "Just try at least, alright? If not she's going to run a background check on your boyfriends when you are in college."

Happily, he leaned back and stretched. "I plan to, Misachan."

"Well, yes, I guess I am. And there are lots of things people don't know about me Satou-sempai." She admitted smiling brightly. "Heh, sure I'll make you one. Just tell me what you want and I'll see what I can do." She paused and shook her head, "Must be nice to buy all that you want."

Misaki looked down some, was her action that bad? Seriously if it was one of the others would he really be saying that, or was it just because she seemed like the type to be one of those creepy stalker girls, "I guess so...Maeko scolded me too."

Looking up she laughed some, "That's just silly, Sempai. I doubt she would do that, she's got a lot to worry about. Besides that I think she worries that I can't handle things on my own. But I have a plan! I'm going to learn to protect myself so she doesn't have to worry as much. " She gave a nod, "It's a secret though, so please don't tell anyone okay?"

"Glad to hear it, so are you two officially boyfriend and girlfriend?" she asked smiling.

"Well duh. Wouldn't want to give everything away for free, right?" he smiled. Time for more hackneyed metaphors! "You just give a demo, and the have to pay to get the full game."

Kanaye frowned. "For once, I agree with Maeko. Don't go looking through other people's stuff unless you want someone to look through yours." he said, trying not to think of going through Misaki's stuff.

Kanaye shook his head. "You sure? Cause she's overly protective of you, you have to know that." he said before smiling. "I don't think that will work but all the power to ya!"

"Yep!" Kanaye said wistfully.

She laughed some, "The demo isn't really what I'd call it, more like...easy, medium, hard, and deadly...I guess you can say I'm like levels of a game. If you're able to beat me on one setting you get to try another, but if you jump to the last one, you're going to find it very difficult."

"Right Sempai, you know you sound like one of those after school specials." Misaki teased as they walked and she looked around. "It's fine, I'm sure that Maeko-chan will understand."

"So where shall we go? I don't usually shop around very much, I've only been around here a few times with Shiori-chan, and Kiriko-chan. Mostly I go to the fabric stores for supplies. Where would you like to go sempai?"

Something about his voice caught her attention, "Are you unhappy about something Sempai?"

Kanaye laughed, slapping his knee. "Well, I guess that's one way to put it." he said happily. "I guess Maeko's playing on hard, eh?"

Chuckling, Kanaye said "Then I'm doing my job right, Misachan. Seriously, try not to look through people's stuff, alright?" he finished, his cheery face making a sharp contracst to his words.

Shrugging, Kanaye shook his head. "I have no idea. Where ever you want to go, Misachan~!" he finished before blinking and staring at her. "Not at all, why?"

She raised an eyebrow some, "Well in a way I guess. But she's been playing a lot longer then anyone so she knows more about me. Doing your job? If you mean playing the game, then you're playing well, but you could step up and try harder."

Misaki smiled some, "I know Sempai, I won't." Why was he so worried about that? It wasn't like she was going to break in and enter his room.

"You've never been to the shopping district before. Um...well we could just randomly walk one way or the other to see what we find? Somethings sure to catch our eyes right?" Misaki said with a grin, she only dropped it slightly when he asked her why, "Well you just seemed a bit...I don't know...wistful when you said yes to my earlier question."

Kanaye just face palmed. "I...I meant doing my job in sounding like an after school special..." he said sheepishly.

He nodding. "Good, just so long as we're clear on that." he said. You can never be too sure.

He chuckled. "Let's go with that. Wandering around pointlessly is always fun~!" he said excitedly before shrugging. "Eh, just can't wait til I get to see her in a yukata. Then we'll both be happy!"

"Sorry Sempai, and yes...you are," she laughed some. "I was just thinking how different it is walking around with you versus Kiriko-chan or the other girls I come here with."

"Why are you worried I might look through something of yours Sempai?" she teased lightly.

Misaki grinned, "Well if that's what you want I can make her one that would look good on her. I'll just have to do it as a suprise. Though I might need to make sure the hemline is short enough, she doesn't like long skirts."

Looking around she spotted a fabric store, "OH we can start there, that way I can know what color you'd like to see her in okay?"

Kanaye posed. "Well thank you, Misachan! I'd think it was obvious that I'm not going to act like Kiriko." he said jokingly. "But I can dress like her if it would help."

Kanaye nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, yes, yes Misachan! I'm sure she would like that!" And so would he. Short skirted yukata for the win! "I'm glad you are thinking of her, I'll have to pay you back one of these days."

Nodding, Kanaye smiled. "Sure. That would be nice."

"I could always make you an outfit based on her and you would be Kaniko-chan, although I don't think skrits would suit you as well as they do her, Sempai," she teased and grabbed his hand hurrying him across the street.

The store itself was fairly nice with rows of fabric all over. Misaki looked around and took a royal blue out and drapped it over Kanaye's neck. "If I"m making her one might as well make you one too. Now what would go good on you Sempai...Blue...green...royal Red?"
