WHO: Renju & Keiichi (also open to Misaki. Cooking Club UNITE!)
WHAT: Discussion of things that make no sense.
WHERE: Cooking Club, after everyone leaves
WHEN: Monday afternoon.
WHY: Because Renju's joined the club of people who have strange things sprout from their heads.

To Keiichi's astonished shock, the day's Cooking Club meeting ("Noodles And You: How To Eat Better Than Cup Ramen In The Comfort Of Your Own Kitchen") had gone surprisingly well, with no injuries. Most of the club had gone home already, and most of the cleanup was done, allowing Keiichi to take a seat in one of the chairs and begin to eat his own prepared dish for the day, a slightly more Japanese take on the traditional Thai favorite, pad thai.

Of course, for much of the rest of the club, their assignment had been "noodles with tomato sauce", but the fact that some of the annoying third years had succeeded at that (for once) was good enough for Keiichi.

"I'm fine, thank you," she lied, lightly pushing the tray back over a little before resting her arms back on the table in front of her.

"I assume it's the same with these... Personas, then?" She sighed. "And what are the 'Shadows' you mentioned? Mizushima-senpai said something about shadow monsters, but..."

Misaki had been cleaning up her station while Ito and Renju were talking. The older girl's noodles had come out mushy and she seeemed disappointed. Walking over to them after she'd finished the normally chipper girl took a seat at the table where Renju was sitting and looked at her hands, listening to the tail end of the conversation.

"They're creatures that seem to come from our mind. What they are, we're not sure exactly. Kiriko-chan did some research on them and came to the conclusion that they were some sort of manifestation of our concious, it has to do with Jung, or someone...You'll have to ask her about that," Misaki thoughtfully explained and looked at the older girl. "We don't know why the come about, but that they only seem to exist in that world."

She tapped the table some, "Shadows are also creatures from there, I don't know how to explain them except to say that they're blobs of pitch black that seem to convert to different things in that world. They seem linked to it...some how..."

"I'm less convinced than Ikeda-san about the psychological real-world applications of all of this, but that's probably the most concrete thing we have to go on," Keiichi admitted. "We have a lot of things that are seemingly connected somehow, but nothing concrete."

Keiichi stirred his noodles with his chopsticks, sighing. "You sure you don't want any, Sonozaki-san? I can make you a fresh batch if you want, we have the ingredients."

Hearing another voice, Renju looked up sharply. Apparently Aoi-san had also stayed behind--which, admittedly, made sense given that she'd been with that group as well.

Creatures that came from the mind. So what part of her mind was a wounded god, then? It was just beyond her.

"Jung? I don't really know anything about that," she admitted. "I think I'll have to do some reading up soon. And no, I'm fine, really," she added, somewhat more firmly this time, regarding the noodles.

She paused for a second, thinking, then stood up and started heading over to the cooking area. "I'll try it again. I know where the last batch went wrong. I'll be able to do it right this time." That last part seemed less a reassurance and more a vow to herself.

Keiichi watched her stand up, and was halfway towards standing up to follow her before forcing himself not to. Sonozaki-san was quite independant, and the tone of her voice sounded somewhere between determined and absolutely needing to prove to herself that she could do this.

"Don't worry about the reading too much, Sonozaki-san," Keiichi called after her. "Realistically, the most important thing to do now is take you and the other newcomers in at some point and show you all what you're up against. Fortunately for you, you missed the disturbing part."

"I had hoped to have another chance to go in soon anyway." Renju started on the noodles, her normally laser-like focus split between it and the conversation. Fortunately she was at least competent enough to walk and chew gum at the same time--or talk and cook, as the case might be. "And reading gives me something else to do. It's no bother."

The way he said the last part worried her slightly, but it wasn't as if she could not ask. "The disturbing part?"

"We ended up fighting a...err...tentacle Shadow," Keiichi admitted, wondering why the Hell he'd actually brought up this fact. "It smacked me in the face with them. Hard."

It was one of those conversations that Keiichi never thought he'd ever have with another person. His new life seemed to give rise to those quite often.

"Tentacles?"

At first, Renju didn't catch his meaning. She associated tentacles with octopi and squid and other such animals. She sounded distinctly confused as she went on. "Why would tentacles be so disturbing... oh. Oh."

Turning an interesting shade of red, she leaned in to focus on her noodles in a very poor attempt to hide it. "That.... that's the sort of thing you find down there?" Maybe she didn't want to go after all.

"Paradise has lots of strange things," Keiichi replied, evenly. "You get used to it in the end. Success is more important than anything else, adrenaline helps too."

A slight pause, and he tried to smile.

"Can't really describe it without you being there."

"We could go." The words escaped Renju's mouth before she could really think about it.

She set her pasta fork down, leaving the noodles to boil cheerfully away. "All I saw was that closet. I want a look at what's there when I'm..." She considered the phrasing for a moment. "... expecting something different, and I want to see the Shadows for myself."

Her hand slipped into her pocket and clutched her phone. She rarely bothered to bring it with her to school; ever since the museum, she'd kept it on her, just in case.

Misaki hesitated some and then gave a light nodded getting up, "I'll go with you Sonozaki-sempai. I don't think it would be a good idea to just go wandering around there on your own. We've seen some pretty crazy thing. Giant puppets with strings are scary enough."

She looked over to Keiichi to see what he wanted to do.

"There's no way we'd let her go alone, Mi-chan," Keiichi agreed. "I'd like, if possible, for us to get together all of the new users and go in with them. Get them all some experience at the same time."

No, he wasn't the group leader. Far from it, but really, this was what he did best (in his own mind, anyway). Make suggestions that would help out.

"The three of us could go in and probably be fine, but it's a little risky for my tastes. Our minimum battle group is usually four."

It was still strange to talk about such things, but it was getting less so by the day.

Misaki smiled brightly at this and nodded, "Then lets go after the meeting. Whoever wants to, and get the new users to join in. That way we can surely deal with it. And maybe find some clues."

"That works for me," Keiichi replied. "Is it okay with you, Sonozaki-san?"

She seemed sort of wrapped up in her cooking, really. Not that he could blame her. He'd found it an excellent distraction from suddenly having the weight of the world on your shoulders.

"Meeting?"

Renju had indeed been preoccupied with the noodles, and she gave them another stir before speaking up again. "If it's as dangerous as you say down there, that would be safest." She didn't sound particularly happy, but whether it was a different sort of 'not particularly happy' from her default was hard to tell. She wasn't the easiest person in the world to read.

Carefully, she lifted a noodle out of the pot and took a bite. Still too firm.

"There's going to be a meeting soon," Keiichi explained. "For all of us, including the new users. Hopefully it'll help catch you guys up on things."

Or explain them to those who didn't really know what was going on, like him.

"Yes, Kiriko-chan called it, but I think Sagaki-san is picking the room. She said something about texting us where it's going to be." Misaki picked up her phone and looked.

"Oh by the way Keiichi-sempai. How do you make Tiramisu? Ah...a friend of mine wants me to make it for them. Only I don't know how." She laughed.

"I have a recipe for it here somewhere," Keiichi mused, "but which book is it in?" He frowned momentarily. "I know WHAT tiramisu is, but I don't think I've made it in forever."

He rose, to go look for the cookbook amongst the many cookbooks that were in the cooking club room.

Misaki waited quietly and looked to Renju, "Sonozaki-sempai, what sort of persona do you have?"

Renju was silent at first, seemingly concentrating on her sauce but actually a little hesitant to answer the question. If it was something from some aspect of her mind, it felt like it would be baring a little of her soul to talk about it.

Still, though, it was likely that they'd see it at some point anyhow, so clamming up about it would do no good. Eventually she answered, her voice quiet. "It's called Prometheus. I don't know much else about it."

"Prometheus? You mean the greek character that brought man fire from the gods? My sister did a disertation on him and some sort of complex," Misaki mentioned and smiled. "He's a very heroic character in the myths. He suits you. You seem like the sort of person that can be calm about your choices."

"I... I guess."

Renju felt her cheeks heat up again slightly, and bent over the sauce in a poor attempt to hide it. It wasn't often she got complimented about much of anything besides working hard and paying attention, and she'd never been much good about taking it well. "I think I need to do some more reading.

"Some of our suit us better than others, but yeah. They seem to have some sort of tie to our personalities. It's odd, I agree."

Keiichi really tried not to think about it. The psychological aspect of everything was almost more worrying than the shadows and the fighting.

"Keiichi-sempai's always like that. But I think it's nice in a way. I mean...if the persona is reflecting who we are, then there's a reason why Sonozaki-sempai got someone that brought light to man kind. I think it's a very admirable persona." Misaki beamed.
