Who: Renju, Kei.
What: Conversation and, ideally, information.
When: Late afternoon, after movie night discussion.
Where: Butterfly House common room.
Why: Because.

Renju had not expected life to be quite so... well, peaceful after they'd escaped the clutches of the angels. The Butterfly House was perfect for them, fulfilling all their needs and desires, and even Renju had succumbed for a time to the overwhelming need to unwind. Though the garden was not quite the same as hers, she found it calming, and spent most of her time there or in her room losing herself in pursuits that were, for once, not school or Paradise.

But it hadn't taken her long to grow restless, and start thinking again of the world outside. The spires outside her window would not let her forget for long, after all. Even with that, though, it had been Kei who finally pushed her into action, albeit indirectly. The mere mention of an "after" had been enough to trigger a cascade of dark thoughts, and a sense of gloom that took some time to lift.

When it did, she found herself in the common room, gazing through the largest of the windows there, at the sun glittering off crystal. It wasn't time to strike yet, true, not according to Raphael--but there still had to be something that could be done in the meantime...

Kei did not make himself known right away. Instead, he peered over the shorter girl's shoulder out the window, craning his head this and that, trying to find something in the scene other than the spire that she might be focused on. Finding nothing, he simply followed her gaze.

"Hey," he said finally. "We should probably close the curtain before we put the movie on."

Paradise had made Renju somewhat jumpy, even here, and she turned a little too quickly when she heard a voice behind her.

"Oh. Sato-san." She nodded stiffly, her fingers fiddling with the fabric of her skirt. Realizing this for once, she turned back and drew the curtains. For a few moments, her hands lingered on them thoughtfully.

"May I speak with you before the others arrive?" She wasn't likely to get a better time than this to do it.

His eyes ran over her inquisitively, catching the way she fiddled with her skirt and the moment's pause on the curtains. Renju was always a little overformal, but he had an inkling what was coming.

"Sure," he answered with a nod, gesturing to the kitchen. "Drinks while we talk?"

He knew, she could tell, and she was grateful for the move out of the common room. Though some of this could be discussed with the others, and probably should, this didn't seem like the time or the place for what could easily turn into an inquisition.

Of course, that relied on her not making it one.

Once in the kitchen, she made a beeline for the coffee maker. It wasn't something she drank often, but suddenly she felt the need for something stronger than water or tea. "How are you feeling?" she inquired while setting it up, her tone if not her words making it clear that it was more than a polite inquiry.

"Good," he answered in a polite, neutral tone as he fetched himself a can of melon cream soda from the fridge. He paused with his hand on the door before turning around with a grimace and heading over to the table divided from the kitchen by fusuma. Once he was seated, he let his shoulders slump.

"I'm doing my best," he amended, his answer more honest if less informative this time.
