WHO: Keiichi, Yoshimi
WHAT: Discussion about loved ones.
WHERE: Common room, late at night?
WHEN: After the big meeting thing
WHY: Because K1's dad's an idiot and HER BOYFRIEND IS CAAAAAAAAPTURED

It was late, far later than Keiichi should have been up, but he had fair reason to not be able to sleep.

"Dad's..." He cut himself off, sinking deeper into the beanbag chair that he currently occupied. "An idiot" was on the tip of his tongue, but he knew that wasn't the case. Besides, were the situations reversed, Keiichi imagined he too would be launching himself on a hopeless expedition.

For now, though, all he could do was sit in his chair and sip from a glass of water, rubbing at eyes turned red from crying and exhaustion.

"I've... seen better days." Yoshimi couldn't think of a compelling reason to keep up the hurricane act, not with the way things were going. "Worried, mostly."

She pulled up a chair - if Keiichi wasn't in any hurry to get her out of the way, she wasn't in any hurry to raid the fridge.

"What about you?" She could guess, but asking only seemed fair. "I saw that post your dad made, before..."

"Are you really surprised at what he said," Keiichi chuckled, the sort of laughter that came when one was trying not to cry. "He's my dad. It's only really now that I appreciate the fact that I really am his son."

That fact, while slightly horrifying and probably obvious to most, had never really been appreciated by the younger Ito.

"I guess the hardest part was always not telling him about what I was doing," Keiichi told her, sighing a bit. "Back before he finally came around on me, after that match we had. It sucked because I knew how proud he would have been. Would have totally turned around his viewpoint about me, but I couldn't say anything. He'd have had all of our backs. I know it. Hell, he'd have been jealous he couldn't go himself."

Taking a long sip of water, Keiichi shook his head.

"I can't imagine he and that excitable kid can actually stop the angels, but my dad's stubborn. If I know him, he'll do everything he can before they put him away. And hey, we have to go back to that prison, right? Maybe we can save everyone, your boyfriend included."

Placing his glass down on the floor momentarily, Keiichi got up out of his beanbag chair. "I'm going to go to the kitchen for something to drink. Would you like anything?"

"Not surprised, exactly..." Giving their all for lost causes seemed to run in the family, after all.

"I guess... if he's near Mikio-kun and the others, maybe word's getting around by now. About what's really going on." It's a big if and she knows it, but she's not eager to confront the alternatives just yet. "Maybe you're right. Maybe we'll all get home safe."

She sinks deeper into her chair, not really believing it - this isn't one of her storybooks, and a happy ending seems like such a silly thing to hope for when Shingo's been dead and buried for the better part of a year.

A stiff drink seems like the natural solution, but her heart's not in it; she's supposed to be the fun party girl, damn it, not the girl drinking alone in the dark. So she settles for the next best thing.

"Mm... see if the magic fridge has any Kiko's?"

"I'm on it," he said, halfway up before the question was out of her mouth. The kitchen was one of his favorite places; having anything he could want meant he'd already dined very well on high quality food: Kobe beef, for a starter. He'd also gotten to try cooking with truffles.

The fridge, of course, did have Kiko's: barbecue, teriyaki, and buffalo flavored. Not knowing what she preferred, he put a handful of each type of wing on a plate for them both, and placed said plate in the magic microwave to warm up.

Meanwhile, he searched the cabinets for something to drink, and found what he was looking for in a bottle of sake. Yasogami-brand, it was, the same that he and dad had shared after beating the Hell out of each other for fifteen minutes.

Keiichi didn't drink anywhere near as often as others, partially due to being underage, but this seemed like a time where some rice wine was appropriate.

At the insistent dinging of the microwave, he took the plate of wings back out, and re-emerged into the common room. He placed the wings on an end table near where Yoshi was sitting, and flopped back down into his beanbag chair, bottle of sake in hand. There wasn't a glass for it, but he figured it didn't matter. Besides, his dad had drank straight from the bottle at home dozens of times.

"Cheers," he said, before tipping the bottle back for a nice, healthy swallow. "And here's hoping things improve. I'd really like to save everyone we can before we shove our collective boots up some angel behind."

At that, he grinned, and peered over at her. "No offense or anything to your powers of perception. I've just got this feeling that there's more to the story than meets the eye."
