WHO: Toru, Kiriko, and Reizo
WHAT: Minioning! Lunch! Flashbacks!
WHERE: The roof.
WHEN: Lunchtime
WHY: i'm hongry, hombre

Toru never knew how to feel about times like this. It would happen, every so often, that Reizo Shirai would make a "request" of him. Usually just to fetch an item or a meal, and who was Toru to refuse? Fetch quests were fetch quests, and obeying a big delinquent like Reizo would mean a lot less potential punches in the face in his own future. In this case, the day's request was lunch, so he had made sure to pick up a lunch at the convenience store near the dorms especially for the delinquent.

As soon as he had an opening to leave the classroom for lunch, Toru dashed through the halls and stairs up to Nanakamado's roof, Reizo's usual haunt. Even better, a brief inspection of the box showed no damage done to the lunch from the wear and tear of the day or the rush to the rooftop.

He shyly waved in Reizo's direction. "H-hey, Shirai-san, I-I b-brought you your lunch..."

Reizo was freaking out. It wasn't an obvious thing, as he had adopted his stony and scarier demeanor to hide it. His shoulders were a little more hunched, braced against the wind beating against the back of his hoodie, and his face was locked into an impassive, apathetic expression. He looked the bored and dangerous thug; a vicious looking scar tugging one corner of his mouth into a near-constant smirk and his big paws stuffed down into his pockets which could hold, well, that was when the imagination really took off, wasn't it?

But inside he was panicking, and having a mental row with himself. Yes, he'd been seeing images flashing through his mind's eye, and yes, they had been oddly vivid and seemed to stir up other shadows and echoes of whoever they involved, feelings and urges he shouldn't be having towards people who were basically strangers, and now the fuckin' nerd and the cold fish were all saying they were having them too?

Reizo was a yakuza, and even if it wasn't as dangerous as people thought it was, it was still a hard enough life to know that you needed to be grounded and realistic to be effective in it. So why was his life suddenly turning into some fucked up science fiction involving hot girl and nerdy sidekick? Did that make him the main character? He wasn't main character material! He was a villain, or maybe one of those villains who turned into a good guy later but no one ever really forgot was a bad guy.. or..

He scowled, spat out his cigarette, and shook off that inane train of thought. This had to be nothing but a coincidence.

“Well, I've been havin' 'em too..” he eventually said, reaching for a new cigarette and his lighter, “but it's just a .. a coincidence. Maybe they're puttin' shit into the school water. I wouldn't put it past 'em.”

Whoever they were.

Kiriko was trying to hold it together, and as far as she was concerned, doing an admirable job. All the same, she was far more visibly distressed than Reizo, hugging her schoolbag to her chest. This was moving beyond gross and weird and into scary. When the only comfort to the thought that she might be going crazy was that everyone else around her was too, well... it wasn't much comfort at all.

"A coincidence?" she echoed, doubtful. He'd seen the same thing she had, she was certain of it, and doctored water supply or no, that could be no coincidence. All the same, she was a bit more than hesitant to go over it and confirm the details.

"Black sheets," she repeated, leveling him with a hard stare. "And you've got a tebori wolf on your back, and a white snake on your left shoulder." Her eyes darted towards Toru and fell subsequently to the floor. She felt her ears going red again as she hoped dearly he hadn't figured out what they had both seen.

So his two classmates were in the same boat. They, too, were hallucinating things that never happened, for reasons beyond their understanding or control. This was the sort of thing that only ever happened in manga. Not in reality, at a boring school like Nanakamado.

"I-I don't think it's a coincidence." All three of them had experienced these visions in the past few days. Toru wasn't going to chalk it up to random chance. "A=and who would poison our water supply with a hallucinogen? T-that's just bizarre, and violates the order... it's a criminal act."

Kiriko's statements were equally intriguing. "Sh-sheets? ...w-what the hell? Wh-what kind of thing did you see, anyway?" Reizo's back? She got to see a back like that? Toru shook his head; why was he thinking this kind of thing?

"...s-sorry if this is too much information, but I saw some weird stuff, too. Like Shirai-san making me wear a dress, a-and other things with my roommate." He flushed bright red. "It's scaring the hell out of me."

The mask cracked. An eyebrow rose. Then another. The cigarette wriggled back and forth in his mouth as he worried at it with his tongue, before being spat out, like a loop from the last few minutes. This was insane. How the fuck would she know about that? She.. she probably spied on him, it had nothing to do with the fact that they shared that same vision, did it?

Then the otaku spoke and his mouth dropped open, before it moved, trying to form words, and he scowled again and anger took over. He pointed an accusing finger at Toru.

“I didn't-- don't – I didn't have jack shit to do with anything with your room mate, or I didn't – I didn't see anything like that! But you in some frilly fuckin' dress all done up like a girl!”

Then he speared Kiriko with the same finger gesture and glare, though it softened a bit upon recollection of the images she'd given him.

“And you've got a mole beside your belly button.”

His eyes squeezed shut and he rubbed his forehead, and let silence drift in around them and settle in, punctuated only by the big delinquent's sigh.

And maybe if you listened hard enough you could hear the high and keening whirr of what was presumably three of 1-B's students trying to wrap their heads around the revelation.

"S-swimming," she muttered at Toru in response to his lingering questions about what they had seen. Her voice grew firmer as she continued: "We saw both of us going swimming."

Her head snapped up when Reizo started stammer-shouting and pointing fingers. If his reaction hadn't been confirmation enough, that settled it. She stared like a deer in the headlights at him, eyes swiveling to Toru. Slowly, she lowered her schoolbag away from her chest.

"The first time it happened," she said slowly, thoughtfully, "was at that meeting for the Anti-Bullying Club, I think."

"S-swimming....ah, that would explain it, then..." he said, ignoring the fact that sheets had nothing to do with swimming. Maybe she'd actually meant towels.

His gaze drifted over to Reizo. "...I-I didn't say anything about it being 'frilly'. That means... without a doubt, y-you saw it too." The gears in Toru's head were certainly turning too, perhaps at a different pace than those of everyone else. He scratched the back of his neck.

"Oh, I had one there, too... A-and it was also my first. It was like..." he said in reply to Kiriko. Quizzically, he turned his head on an angle. "It was like deja vu... like I had already met everyone and gone through that meeting at some point. But it hasn't! It definitely hasn't!"

Reizo let out a grunt that could only be taking for a sign of agreement.

“Yeah, something weird happened there with me too.”

He wasn't actively looking at them now. He was instead squinting off into the distance, looking two parts confused and eight annoyed. He was apparently not happy about having all this weird shit foisted upon him.

“If some douchebag comes and tells us we're the chosen ones now, I'm gonna knock their teeth out.”

"I don't think it's anything like that..."

Realistically, she had no idea what it could be. What could cause shared visions? What could cause shared visions of things like that? The whole thing was just bizarre. Explaining one thing raised more questions about another.

"... Maybe there's something wrong with us. Maybe that's why they put us all together in a club."

Her brow furrowed and she lifted her schoolbag to her chest again, hugging it.

"Maybe we should ask the others if this has happened to them."

Toru's inclination was to shrug. "This kind of thing always happens in manga and video games and stuff... b-but I have no idea why it's happening in the real world, too."

Even though he looked around, distractedly, the scenery provided him with no insight. "That... maybe that's why we're all so haphazardly forced into that stupid club. B-but... yeah, we should ask the others first. For all we know, it's just us three."

The otaku turned a little on one foot, as if to say "I'm going now."

"G-good luck, you guys."
