There weren't quite as many butterflies in Renju's stomach as she picked up the phone this time. She wasn't even mentally rehearsing what to say. This, she decided, could fairly be considered progress. She had a long way to go, after all.

	Kozue's voice on the other end was light, friendly; "Hey, senpai, what's up?" The sound of something––beeping, maybe?––came over the other end. Kozue was microwaving snacks. (Reply to this) (Thread)

	"Would you, ah, like to go out somewhere today?" More forward though it was, it was still Renju all over; it was full of polite language, and she'd used the vaguer and slightly more formal tsukiau instead of deeto. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	The microwave beeped again. "Sure, did you have anywhere in mind?" Kozue certainly was treating this with all the casual nonchalance of any other person who might call her up and suggest spending time together, polite language or no. 	"I was thinking of Chagall Cafe." She'd never been there, true, but it seemed like the right sort of place for this sort of thing. She thought so, anyway. Although, really, what was 'this sort of thing'? Was it an actual date? And anyway, why did it matter? (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"Oooh, I love their cake." She'd been there, many times––pleasant and well-remembered, and, not as much, although the food was always nice. It wasn't too much later that Renju was standing outside the girls' dorms, wearing some of her better clothes (although it was still a sweater and long skirt; some things never changed, or at least hadn't yet). Early as always, she fiddled anxiously with the strap of her bag while she waited. So far, it had gone as any of their other outings had; was this really what dating was like?

This was very much what dating was like. At least, for Kozue.

There she was, skipping down the steps in a (short, much shorter than Renju's) dress and little puffy snow boots with white fringe on them; she saw Renju, waved, and grinned, and headed over. She looked––well, damn happy, that was how she looked. Buoyant, the way she had felt for a few days now, that had kept her from worrying about the white light, the disappearing pieces of Iburi, the angels… it was going to be bad, but at least she was alright now. "Have you been to Chagall before?"

Renju smiled slightly when she saw Kozue, something, she was a little surprised to note, was happening more often (both the smiles and seeing Kozue, but more the former). She looked good, to be sure--as always, really--but something seemed different about her, something that Renju couldn't quite put her finger on. She certainly seemed happy, at least.

"I haven't, but I know where it is."

"You're missing out," the younger girl noted, stopping a few paces short of Renju; "It's fantastic." There was no effusive, romantic greeting; Kozue wasn't sure it was appropriate or that Renju wanted to be seen in public like that or that Kozue even wanted to be seen like that. Or… damn it, she didn't know, so she gave the winning Kondo-chan smile and thought of cake and hot cocoa and spending time talking to Renju.

"How've you been?"

Renju started to walk once Kozue had caught up to her, ready as usual to get moving as soon as possible; she wasn't in Team Let's Just Move On in Paradise alone, after all. Still, she kept looking over at Kozue, her attention divided between her and making sure she didn't end up tripping on something or getting hit by a car. It seemed to be working reasonably well thus far.

"Busy." Mostly with the case, but Renju was starting to learn tact, and that perhaps this was not the best time to bring up a topic like that. "And you? You seem to be in good spirits today."
