WHO: Kai and Seiko
WHAT: Adorbstalk.
WHERE: Seiko's house
WHEN: Post-Yoshidungeon, a weekend-day when convenient.
WHY: Kai needs more help.

Kai had another problem to add to his list. The other day, his mom had carried a stray cat inside, fussing over how she'd found it cowering behind the garbage cans and she couldn't leave it outside. While his parents had bickered about what to do with it, Kai had peeked inside the box and found, wrapped in a towel, an old fat calico that he recognized almost instantly.

But what was Masaya's cat doing there?

Flustered, he'd contacted the first person he could think of: Seiko, someone he knew to be a cat-person, and someone he could beg to talk to Masaya for him so he could retrieve the cat, Sammy, and take her safely home.

And besides, he'd gotten a new clothing magazine and wanted to talk outfits with Seiko, anyway. But first, cats!

So he found himself in her house, staring curiously at the grouchy-looking cat perched on a chair who looked a lot uglier than Seiko had made him sound.

"I don't know the first thing about caring for cats, so I figured you would know what to do. And besides, I need someone to help me get it back with its owner."

"Okay - ahhhh!"

He jumped back as Goro-sama struggled to get at him (you could at least use a weapon on Shadows; what did you do to a cat?) "Sorry, kitty!"

"Oh...sorry! I didn't know..."

He edged away before reaching into his bag and pulling something out. "Well, with that off my mind, I have something else to talk about with you."

In his hands was a copy of said fashion magazine, which he held until Seiko would have a free hand to take it. "Apparently the latest trend is sparkles and bright colors again, I thought of you. Glitter is coming back, apparently."

Seiko finally released the cat who delicately licked his paw, cleaned his ear and hopped back up onto his chair and promptly fell asleep.

"Ooh, it'll be nice to be able to get some bright clothes, I mean not that I don't have some already but it's nice to have a lot of variety..." She took the magazine from Kai and began to flip through it.

"When did glitter go away anyway?" She wiggled her fingers at Kai, if he looked closely he'd see her fingernails were painted with a translucent sparkly silver polish.

"And, glitter aside, how have you been Kai? You seem to be doing better!"

"Ahh, variety is the spice of life and my closet!" Kai chirped, completely unaware of any possible innuendo in that statement.

He leaned down to look at her nails and noticed the polish. "Oh, cute! I would do mine with like, clear polish sometimes but my Dad would always threaten to kill me so I had to stop. It was fun, though! We should try it sometime."

"Um..." He had to acknowledge he felt different, if not better. Talking to the counselor had helped, and saving someone else from Paradise had helped even more. "I feel different, I guess. When I think about Paradise now, I don't automatically jump to death. That's the biggest change.

"It's hard to, like, put into words. I cried a lot right after I came out, and when I stopped crying I saw how many people would have been hurt if I just up and died, and I got mad at myself for being so selfish. Like, how could I just leave them when they needed me?

"But the biggest thing is realizing that I was brave all along, by doing stuff even though I was so afraid. So, yeah, I do feel a lot better! And sorry if this is awkward or whatever, but I'm going shopping with Sagaki-senpai soon and what do you think would look good on him? That he would actually wear? Last time he grabbed a lot of neutral colors and I wanted to tear my hair out."

"Always good to have a various closet yeah..." Seiko was not unaware of the innuendo so allowed herself a brief smile, before getting back to the more serious business of listening to her friend and being helpful without being all... Creepy.

"...Came out? Oh right." She stroked Goro-sama's chin, "that place, it always makes you see yourself so clearly, I guess in the end we'll all end up stronger, or at least more able to accept ourselves. It's almost a good thing we went through it, if you ignore the danger and mental scarring of our friends."

She waved one well manicured hand, "eh, Tom? You'll struggle to get him into anything decent, after all cheerful colours won't blend into shadows, I don't know, try greens? Then you can say it is like camouflage or something. His clothing is so boring usually."

Seiko herself was in a bright orange fluffy sweater with dark blue jeans and a belt made up of butterfly shaped chain links with large fake pink crystals hanging from it, she would most definitely not blend into shadows.
