WHO: Kiriko and Reizo
WHAT: Chillin', cop killin', drug dealin' -- the usual.
WHEN: After this.
WHERE: Reizo's.
WHY: I'm still gunning for rank 10.

There were a couple of shopping bags lined up behind Reizo's couch, acquired a bit earlier in the day during a session of retail therapy. They had accumulated fewer items than one might expect from Kiriko, and she'd wound up paying for half of them - letting other people buy you things was nice, but nothing helped reassert control of some external situation than spending your own.

She was sprawled on the couch, now, one arm tucked behind her head and the other resting against her stomach, her legs crossed at the ankle and draped over his lap. Her worry about the angels had been relieved, or at least moved to the back burner, but it was at least in part because something else had floated into her mind. The new subject was weighty and hardly unfamliar, but she was contemplating rather than worrying, looking for words and conclusions as her clear grey eyes scanned the ceiling for imperfections.

"You're really not like us, huh?"

He leaned over her legs briefly to punch the power button on the remote to turn the TV off; what she was talking about was both interesting and offputting. He wasn't sure he wanted to discuss the finer points of his life of as oyabun in training, but she deserved to know more about it than what she'd seen in the media. Besides that, he was getting tired of watching the garish pink, blue, and green girls silently beating the shit out of some homo red guy in a tutu with crab claws.

“And what answers're you still lookin' for?” He asked her, taking one stiff draw off his cigarette and then essaying a thick stream of smoke out of the corner of his mouth before he stuffed it out in an ashtray.

"I don't know," she answered honestly. "Answers about you. Us." She was employing that vague hand-wave again, mostly to keep from sounding too dramatic, this time meaning 'feelings and other such nonsense.'

"I mean, it's not going to last, is it? Maybe it will burn out once this persona stuff is done and we go back to our lives. Maybe it'll be once we finish third year and move on with them. Either way, the best I can hope for is to make it big enough to have you blackmailing me on a semi-regular basis."

With a somewhat put-upon sigh, she kicked her legs off of him, sitting upright on the couch and leaning against him instead. The conversation didn't bother her, but around him, it had always been a topic to tread lightly.

"I don't normally waste my time like this, but you make it so much fun."

Of course, she wasn't going to ask - a little levity and an escape clause would be good enough.

The big delinquent boy looked sidelong at his girlfriend when she leaned into him, and after a little sigh he draped an arm around her.

“After this, you better get big enough for me to blackmail you. After all the schemes you've pulled in school, I'll be disappointed if I don't get a nice big check out of you every month.”

He pulled his arm away and leaned back to pick up his cigarette, which he lit and stuck back in his mouth, and came back up. If he was gonna talk about some sort of inevitable breakup, which he was sure he didn't enjoy and less sure he believed in, then he definitely needed a smoke. Stupid girls.

“You're not gonna change your mind and suddenly be content with ruling from the shadows of a large criminal syndicate, huh?”

"I think I will, but there's a lot that could happen." she answered nonchalantly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. She'd make it somewhere, that much was for certain - but the whens and wheres and hows were still, realistically, a little hazy. "Maybe I'll end up talking you into a discount." She turned her head to grin at him

"Offering me a seat, huh?" His arm was around her again and she leaned back into the crook of it. "I think that's probably the kind of position you have to marry into. Comes with a lot of strings. Besides, I want to make my own way. Get my own power. You know."

He took another moment to regard her silently, then gave a small shrug.

“I get it, believe me, and I don't know jack shit about the corporate ladder so I'm not gonna even start trying to give advice,” he said, in almost a sigh, “but I can't imagine it'll be easy, unless you, you know, sleep to the top as so many women are rumored to do.”

A pause.

“Which you're kinda offering to do right now.” The line was delivered with an amused smirk, but it dropped out of his face quickly and he let out another sigh.

“Sure you're just not scared of seeing who and what I am up close? I mean, really up close. You've got an idea now, but that's all it is, an idea, something you get from the media and maybe piece together from some of the shit I tell you, but..”

She jabbed an elbow into his ribs at that suggestion.

"It was a joke, stupid." She paused, returning the smirk. "Or at least an exclusive offer."

Her head tipped at the next question, one of her eyebrows lifting.

"Is this the part where you tell me you're secretly a vampire?" The way he was talking did sound like that one movie, after all, but she let her brow and the conspiratorial tone she had been using drop.

Scared wasn't something she was ready to cop to. The truth of the matter was that he was right, she didn't know, and she'd already said as much. If she was scared of anything, it was being suddenly in the crosshairs, and as far as she was concerned, anyone who wasn't at least cautious about avoiding that was idiotic rather than brave.

"Reizo," she spoke firmly, "I already know you're a bastard, and that you're going to become an unspeakably bigger one. I like you anyway."

The big, white-haired delinquent boy rolled his eyes.

"Gee, thanks, I guess," he said, doing his best to sound put upon but mostly coming off as amused. The fact that he leaned over and took a bite at her neck after glossing back over her vampire crack probably didn't lend itself to the gravity of her last statement, but that was probably hard to care about when you had a six and a half foot tall wall of muscle nibbling playfully on the side of your throat.

He toppled her over onto her side and then was atop her -- it was probably a little scary to have the boy hovering over you and eyeing you like you were his next meal.

"You realize I'm going to take advantage of you?" He asked her.

The meaning couldn't of been more dubious.

She cocked her head, arms sliding around his neck. For the moment she was going to ignore the double entendre, however against her nature it was to do so. She knew - that was what she had been saying, wasn't it? - and however ignorant she was, she had always known that. It gave her pause before she had decided that she was never going to be happy if she didn't take a few risks.

"I figure I can cross - or burn - that bridge when I come to it. For now I'd rather take a page out of your book and enjoy the ride."

"And here I thought you were the smart, scheming one," he muttered against the side of her neck with a sigh, pulling up and away from her and bringing her back up with him with a casual tug of her arm after.

He scratched at his neck idly, eyes pulling away from her and gravitating to the guns nestled away (but not exactly hidden) in the corner of the room.

"Ever fired a gun?"

She looked faintly disappointed when he sat back up again, but made no protest as she sat up with him, leaning back into him. Though she did her best to follow the path of his eye, she didn't quite find what he was looking at until he spoke again.

"Like you don't know the answer to that question," she answered with obvious amusement that he was asking at all.

He let out a little grunt in reply, looking pensive briefly before he turned to look at her again.

"You wanna?"

"I... Yeah, actually."

The question caught her off guard, but now she was eyeballing the gun cabinet with renewed interest, curiousity and a touch of excitement, craning her neck around him to get a better look.

"The big one. I want to try the big one."

She paused, looking confusedly around the room.

"... Uh, but at what?"

He shook his head, a smarmy half-grin sliding into place.

"Doesn't matter. Was just wanting the answer to the question."

There was a beat of a pause.

"And you already had the big one."

His laughing was interrupted shortly thereafter when he sighed loudly and showily, and propped his chin up in one palm.

"Just where am I gonna find another girl like you after you run off to become some kind of wildly success business tycoon, huh? I don't wanna get saddled with some bimbo just-for-show trophy wife when I've already found the perfect girl to help me run it."

Her mouth fell slightly open in surprise at what was coming out of his. There was something warm and fuzzy crawling all over the inside of her chest that prompted her to ball her hand into a fist and punch him in the shoulder.

"Oh, shut up, you'll do fine alone." She laughed, face splitting into a grin. "And besides that, you'll have my business card."

He hmphed and folded his arms across his chest, thought better of it and went for another cigarette, then leaned back onto the couch and puffed at it for a long moment before speaking again.

"Yeah, and I guess, even metaphorically, I'll always be screwing you."

"And, of course, sometimes I'm sure I'll have an excuse to come see you.. you know, make sure you're keeping up on your payments."

She laughed again and plucked the cigarette out of his mouth to lean in and kiss him, pulling back with a smile and wedging the butt of it back between his lips.

"Exactly my thinking."

Her eyes flitted beyond his face a moment later, and she got to her feet, crossing the room towards the cabinet in the corner and staring at all the black metal on the other side of the glass.

"Now come get one out for me, you tease. You can show me how to fire on the other side."
