WHO: Renju, Kozue.
WHAT: Getting Renju safely back.
WHERE: Leaving the Butterfly Room.
WHEN: Immediately post-dungeon.
WHY: Better safe than sorry, right?

Renju had almost gotten used to getting beaten up in Paradise. The first several times she'd gotten hit with a spell or a strike from a Shadow, it had hurt like hell, but Prometheus--now Ksitigarbha--always protected her from the worst of it. When he was gone, one of the things she'd secretly feared (though she'd never have admitted it) was being exposed to the full extent of Paradise's physical dangers.

She'd managed to make it through then without finding out how it felt. And now she'd found out that apparently Ksitigarbha didn't do much good against being pitched full-force against a vase. And a wall.

She'd seen Kai through the end of it through sheer force of will, but her head was throbbing and her vision swimming by the time they'd made it out of the Butterfly Room. She pulled her jacket a little tighter around her against the chill and started to make for the dorm on legs that were a little more wobbly than she was wholly comfortable with.

Kozue, thankful to be back in street clothing that covered her whole body, (especially now that she was in December and not dream-Okinawa), hustled out of the Butterfly Room. Partly, she was eager to get back home and lie in bed and do nothing for a little while—the surest cure for any Paradise-related shakes or worries—and partly she was concerned. She wasn't actually a medic, just a girl with magical healing powers and no understanding to back it up, but that didn't mean she couldn't be concerned.

And she was concerned about Renju. Now, in the falling snow, she scanned the dark neighborhood, looking for another short silhouette in the dark; there it was, wrapped in a bulky coat and wobbling away. Kozue trotted to catch up, but calling out always felt strange in the snow, like the world was too quiet for that, so she only called when she came close, no longer able to contain worry when she saw how unbalanced the other girl looked, "Renju--wait, Sonozaki-senpai," she corrected herself. "Hold on, are you sure you're okay?"

Renju had parted ways from the rest of the group a little way back, and so she was startled to hear a voice behind her. When she spun to look back, though, her foot slipped on the snow-dampened grass and the inside of her head whirled right along with her. She nearly overbalanced, and held a hand to her head till the wave of nausea went away.

"Kondo-san?" Once she'd managed to steady herself again, she peered through the dark and snow. It wasn't as though she were so out of it that she couldn't recognize the voice readily enough. The hastily-corrected honorific slipped right past her notice, though. "No, I'm fine."

Kozue squinted across to Renju, trying to make out more detail in the snow and dark. "You're wobbling when you walk. You're not fine," she accused, putting some fairly solid amount of conviction into her voice. "It's probably better to walk back with someone, and we're going to the same place."
