WHO: Toru and open
WHAT: WALK OF SHAME
WHERE: Between the Butterfly Room and the dorms
WHEN: Immediately following Kai's dungeon
WHY: Because this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance.

It was only after he left the beautiful beach of Kai's mind that Toru realized his situation. The outfit he'd been wearing in Paradise? Was the actual dress that Kai had made for him to wear while he was being Reizo's "bitch". The damage done by water, shadow hands, sharp rocks, and lightning was real, as were the stains of green paint and blood from his scraped elbows and knees. The shoes were somewhere in the bowels of Paradise, as well (good riddance).

And it was the only outfit he had with him. When Toru poked his head out of the Butterfly Room, he immediately shivered in the cold evening air. A wet dress in December was a one-way ticket to catching a cold or worse. And he still had to walk back to his dorm room, without even shoes on his feet.

In the snow.

He cursed his luck and began a slow and stumbling progress towards the direction of his dorm.

"Yamada Kai. He's a second-year, transferred from Okinawa." Toru wasn't sure that he could tell Noboru more than that, safely. Telling normal people about Paradise would likely put them in danger, too, and the last thing Toru wanted was for his roommate to disappear, too.

"Shirai at least knows the story behind this, but I still owe him. I know I'm not getting off the hook." And this time, he wouldn't be able to ask Kai to help him make a new one. Just his luck.

Eyebrows went up at the question. "Yeah. There was... water. And I couldn't walk home naked or anything, honestly." Why did Noboru sound so concerned? It was starting to freak Toru out, this politeness.

"I... didn't want to. It'd have been embarrassing." As if to illustrate his folly, Toru sneezed loudly. "Should have swallowed my pride, really."

His eyes went wide when Noboru offered him the blanket. "Er... um... th-thanks, Takagi-senpai." Without question, he wrapped it around himself and sat down on his bed. "Glad you're looking out for me."

"Ohhhhhhhh, Okinawa-kun!" Noboru had nicknamed him back upon hearing "Okinawan transfer student" and had never bothered to learn his real name. He usually didn't.

"Dang." Noboru sat down on the bed next to Toru, a little close for comfort. "Well, whatever happened, you're here now."

He rocked back and forth a little, smiling softly to himself. "I worried about ya for a second there." He swallowed. It seemed awkward, dangerous to have his hands fluttering about like they were, so he crossed his arms.

"U-um, you wanna play games or something?" Why had he thought sitting down was a good idea? "Or, um..." He tilted his head, looking at Toru. Cross, uncross arms. Fidget.

"...Fuck it."

Then he grabbed Toru's shoulders, pulling the other boy in with surprising strength and kissed him full on the mouth. Oh God yes everything in him sobbed with relief.

"Oh, you do know him!" Toru wondered if this was changing Noboru's views of Kai significantly. Hopefully not.

He found himself vaguely perturbed by how close Noboru sat to him. It wasn't... usual. Regardless, he shook it off. Nothing to worry about in comparison to pretty much everything else in his life at that point. "Yeah, I'm just here. That's definitely a step up from the rest of today."

"I appreciate it, senpai." And now his roommate was fidgeting, flailing, almost. Wasn't that normally Toru's job? "There something wrong? I-I'm fine now, I swear. You don't need to fret anymore, you know."

"And we can totally play games, if you'd like. It'll take my mind off stuff, that's for sure." Now Noboru was looking him right in the face. What was up with him? Toru cocked his head, turning slightly to face the boy, and then...

That was the last thing he remembered happening before Noboru grabbed his shoulders and locked lips with him. Toru went beet-red, unfocused, overheated. How could he have not seen this coming? It had been painfully obvious, Noboru's denials had been clearly fake, his behavior and his admissions and...

Toru found that he didn't honestly care about all of that as much as he could have. This wasn't so bad. Better than Kazuya's kissing ability, even.

He nonetheless broke away, blushing like he had a fever already. "Wh- tha- T-takagi-senpai! You!" It took a moment for Toru to find his words. "H-how long have you been waiting to do that?!"

Finally. Noboru tilted his head, trying to gain as much access as possible to Toru's mouth. It was amazing to finally realize this, even if Toru tasted and smelled like someone who'd been doused in a lot of seawater (and Noboru wouldn't even rib him about it!)

When Toru pulled away, Noboru let go just as quickly, backing away a little bit but still sitting on the bed. He watched Toru's face anxiously, waiting for revulsion or betrayal, but all he saw was blushing. Was that good? "Too long," he answered before his mind could catch up with his mouth. (This had something to do with the warm churning sensation in his stomach.)

Biting his lip, he sat there for a long moment, just waiting. Then finally, "I-I do like you, y'know." He looked down at his lap. "I was only a jerk for a reason," he muttered, because Noboru, believe it or not, was actually capable of examining his own behavior, and he knew how confusing this must have been to Toru. Or maybe he could have guessed it. ...Wait, it was Toru. Probably not.

He covered his half his face with his hand, looking back at Toru one-eyed. "I was just too retarded to tell you outright. I've liked you since, like, before I asked you to move in with us. But you were in your own little world, and I just didn't know how else to get your attention other than by picking on you." What was this, this warm feeling in his face. Aaagggh, stupid Ishinotaku, turning him into an idiot with his stupid fanboying and nice eyes and warm mouth...

"Sorry about springing this on you, but it's the truth." He only prayed the other boy would get it.

Toru's brain was, to put it kindly, melting down. Heat was all that he could even think about. He felt heat from the blanket, heat from the change of clothes, heat from Noboru's mouth as he kissed him, heat from the rest of Noboru, heat from his own face as he flushed crimson.

It took him a few false starts to get any words out. "Tha... y-you... I... uh... kiss... you... senpai?" He shook his head. "Th-that... it was good, it really was- I just... I..."

What was his objection? Too sudden? Too awkward? If he said that, it wouldn't even be honest. Toru was imbued with a special kind of befuddlement after the kiss. His hands fluttered as he tried to speak, his knees were locked against each other in a gesture of introverted awkwardness. "I, um... never mind, okay. I-it was very good. A-and, um... you do like me, then?"

Told himself again and again that Noboru was just a jerk, Toru did, and he was dead wrong in his assertions. The older boy flirted like a middle school kid. "You did a weird job of showing it, that's for sure... n-not that it's... augh, I don't know what I'm even saying." The boy looked downward, embarrassed.

"...and I didn't even... I'd have never noticed until you did something like this. 'm sorry, Takagi-se- er... Noboru. Noboru-kun would be more appropriate, right? Don't even know anymore..." He drew the blanket in closer. "Y-you, um..."

Suddenly, something sparked up in Toru's eyes, clarity of a kind, and he seized the his roommate's shoulders, not roughly, but purposefully, as his slim fingers could only manage. "You're telling the truth, right? I-I know you just said you were, but I know I told you about Arai before, and..."

"Fuck, I don't even know what I'm saying." Toru's face was terribly, absurdly red, and he did his best by burying it in Noboru's collarbone.

"I'm sorry I didn't notice sooner."

Noboru just watched Toru flail, half-amused and half-wondering, and was caught off guard by the other boy grabbing him.

"H-huh? Yes, of course I am! I do like you, you dork - ahhhh, sorry, you're not...well, you are, but I shouldn't call you that."

And then Toruface in his neck. Noboru felt a warm jolt at the contact, but tried not to jump. Instead, he tenatively leaned forward and put his arms around Toru, hugging him.

"...Don't need to apologize. I didn't make it easy," he murmured into Toru's hair. Hugging someone who was (even marginally) taller than him was a little awkward, and his lower back twinged as he held the position, but it was more than worth it. Toru was so warm now, even though he'd been walking around in sodden clothes, and for the moment it was enough to soak up that warmth. Noboru squeezed him tighter, pressing his cheek against Toru's, before finally forcing himself to pull away.

"And I'm sorry I couldn't be honest with you to begin with." Noboru frowned. "...Also kissing you like that wasn't cool, soooo yeah. Sorry about that, too."

He pulled his knees up, a distancing move, bracing himself for rejection. "So where does this leave us?"

"Okay. I just needed to know for sure."

Toru's forehead was so warm that to any casual observer, he'd have appeared feverish. Once Noboru hugged him, he mirrored the gesture, arms clumsily twining around his roommate's torso. He made no movement to shift his head away.

"You really didn't... but at least you..." The boy sighed. "At least your feelings were honest." Noboru had been annoying, but not malicious. And a small dishonesty didn't bother him nearly as much as previous lies had.

When Noboru pulled away from him, Toru folded back on himself, hugging arms to chest and looking downwards once more. "It's... it's fine. You did what you could." Then a sudden blush before responding to the remainder of Noboru's statement. "It was just a... kiss. And it wasn't a bad one. You could have done a lot worse that would have deserved a lot more apology, anyway..."

His hand went up to his own face, the area of his forehead and the bridge of his nose. Deep in thought, or at least worry.

"I don't... know. 'cause... I like you well enough, but at the same time... I'm not sure what my emotions are saying." Toru tilted his head backwards. "But my body is saying 'why the hell not'. And, I mean..."

Toru was getting into dangerous territory here. Was it okay to be that easily swayed by something like your roommate-who-flirts-like-a-thirteen-year-old kissing you like somebody who is patently not thirteen? The last time this happened, he ended up used. But at the same time, Noboru didn't seem half as inscrutable and manipulative as Kazuya, and he'd pleaded the case of his honest when Toru asked him. And he didn't dislike his roommate in any sense of the word, except when the teasing got excessive.

"It's confusing me. It's really, really confusing me."

Only one way to test himself now. Toru darted forward at Noboru in a near-imitation of the boy's earlier actions, one hand on his knee and the other on the back of his head, and kissed him back.

	Noboru just watched Toru flail. Well, it didn't SEEM like he was going to get rejected today - And then Toru kissed him. Yes, yes, yes. After Noboru was done thoroughly making out, he had his trademark sly grin back. "Will you be confused with me, at least?" (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"Yeah, I think so." Toru was quite a sight, held up only by one arm while the other lingered near the back of Noboru's neck, face flushed, eyes blinking owlishly. "You are probably the best candidate for that." (Reply to this) (Parent)
