WHO: Toru and open
WHAT: WALK OF SHAME
WHERE: Between the Butterfly Room and the dorms
WHEN: Immediately following Kai's dungeon
WHY: Because this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance.

It was only after he left the beautiful beach of Kai's mind that Toru realized his situation. The outfit he'd been wearing in Paradise? Was the actual dress that Kai had made for him to wear while he was being Reizo's "bitch". The damage done by water, shadow hands, sharp rocks, and lightning was real, as were the stains of green paint and blood from his scraped elbows and knees. The shoes were somewhere in the bowels of Paradise, as well (good riddance).

And it was the only outfit he had with him. When Toru poked his head out of the Butterfly Room, he immediately shivered in the cold evening air. A wet dress in December was a one-way ticket to catching a cold or worse. And he still had to walk back to his dorm room, without even shoes on his feet.

In the snow.

He cursed his luck and began a slow and stumbling progress towards the direction of his dorm.

Toru's plan would have worked, if arms could shield a view that went from feet to head.

Except Toru was a person he cared for. His eyebrows furrowed as he tried to understand why it was there at all, but they lifted because his face showed a level of concern.

"You look foolish."

"...yeah, I bet I do."

Toru shook his head at the painfully obvious statement. At least Kouchisei looked worried, if nothing else.

"It's not something I chose for myself, though."

Kouchisei rested his head on his shoulder, ignoring the costume with as much fortitude and understanding as he could muster. He loosened the scarf around his neck and, after running a hand underneath it to get rid of most of the damp, tossed over his shoulder, feeling that he'd be rid of it if he couldn't see it.

"You're going to have people talking if you stand here," he said. "Not to mention catch your death."

Toru stared at Kou uncomfortably.

"I know... I know. I'm going to go get changed out of this so neither of those things happen."

He shivered rather visibly at this.

"I'm sorry... I know I must look like an idiot. And it's too late to stop people talking."

There was nothing good to find in gossip; it hurt to hear whispers at your back. He was a little surprised in how quickly the issue had become known, though. Visibly caring for these people was hard, and his concern had taken a long time to appear.

It didn't take him a moment to think of a probable solution to any embarrassment. But it was with surprise that he thought of it. He wouldn't mention it yet. Perhaps it needed more time to be straightened out inside his head.

He didn't go anywhere, hoping that by remaining he would show Toru he at least had company.

"...gonna go to my dorm room now. I really will catch cold if I don't change out of this."

It was then, as he turned to leave, that Toru noticed Kou's respectful silence. Normally, the upperclassman would have made some snide remark about his clothing or the situation with Reizo... or something. But there was none of that.

"You okay there, senpai?"

"Yeah."

Kou seemed surprised by the fact Toru had asked. Normally, he hadn't made enough friends who would ask such things or talk about changing clothes. Paradise had been a necessary duty with associates. But these people were more than that.

"If things don't change, you're welcome at my home until people learn to be quiet. If you're worried about my father, I'll handle that too."

There was a firm undertone in his voice; he could make them be silent.

Toru was somewhat taken aback by this offer. It seemed almost grossly out-of-character for his senpai, but so were dirty tricks. Kou appeared to be genuine enough, though.

"Thank you, senpai. I very well may take you up on the offer. It... means a lot to me."

He smiled and bowed politely in addition to this. "I'll let you know in a day or so, okay?"

Toru was not clever; his clothes and lifestyle were counter-productive to a good career and family security. He felt there was something more, but of that he was only mildly certain. It was a guess. For him, this offer wasn't approval - it was a matter of being helpful.

"All right."
