Who: Kouchisei and Hamasaki-sensei.
What: Counselling.
Where: Counsellor's room.
When: Morning, pre-school.
Why: Teen hormones.

It was eight-ten and Kouchisei was standing outside the counseller's office, thinking about events at the ryotei that were still plaguing his mind as his fingers moved uncertainly over his fastened collar. He was suffering a hormonal teenage anger. It was manifesting in how he paced back and forth by the door, turning circles, walking like it were the only space in school. He noticed his fingers tapping his arms and they moved down. Kou couldn't help his frown as he went over to the door... He felt strange.

Bringing his hands together in his lap, Kouchisei sighed. Discuss something. Discuss meant talking in the open. How could he be honest? How could he tell Hamasaki-sensei the reason he'd met with the group? How could he tell him what caused his worry? And why had he been seeing the counsellor so long in the first place?

"I understand hormones are some insane thing that make the body work. I'm assumuing they're why I feel angry or aggressive at every turn. It is as far as possible from being me. I want it to stop."

Hamasaki nodded, sitting down at his desk again.

"I'm afraid that there's not much that can be done about that. It's your age and all the other students are going through something similar. As long as you take care to excersize restraint when you do feel angry then you are still the one in control."

It was clear that this was a speech he had given countless times.

Huh? That was it?

He knew asking for pills was drastic, and possibly his fears were coming out because he was aging - turning into an older self, starting a new life - and didn't know what to do.

"I suppose now I'll have to get used to it. Can I ask something else?"

Hamasaki nodded again. "Feel free."

"...When did I become weak?"

Kouchisei looked round the room. A filing cabinet. One large desk. Two chairs. More chairs at the wall. A window. Motivational posters.

Bizarre, he thought.

"... I was just thinking about running away from home." He paused, knowing he'd rehearsed what to discuss but not knowing how to say it. "I was selfish in trying to run away when my father needed me, so I eventually just came back... and probably made people think I was looking for attention."

Hamasaki remained silent for a second, adjusting his glasses. Finally he nodded again to show that he had understood.

"There is no shame in coming back." He said. "You made the right choice in doing so when others might have been too stubborn until it was too late. That won't make people ignore those implications, I'm afraid, but people will forget the conclusions they jumped to eventually."

Kouchisei was also quiet. He adjusted his glasses simultaneously and subconsciously, and then moved the chair forward by half-standing and hauling it by the arms.

"Alright. Now please tell me what you think I should do."

"Try not to let personal matters cause you undue stress. It might help you to speak to others more. I've heard that you've started talking to other students more often since your return, I think it would help you to try and keep that up."

He paused for a second to think. "I believe I suggested it before but you should give serious thought to joining a club. Did you visit the Anti-Bullying Club or do you have another in mind?"

"... Sure."

Kouchisei figured it couldn't hurt to try. Hamasaki-sensei's encouragement had made him feel good. But when he talked of clubs, his heartbeat slowed and he wrung his hands once.

"I went once. I... don't want to get involved. I don't like commiting myself to something so social."

"That's fine, you won't be forced to do anything you're not ready for." Hamasaki said, adjusting his glasses again. "I would still recommend looking into joining a club, though. Are there any hobbies you have? If you joined a club relaed to a hobby of yours you would always have something in common to discuss."

"Hamasaki-sensei, if you tell me a club to join, I'll join it." He paused. "... I think I'd like arranging flowers, but... yeah."

He was a guy. Guys didn't arrange flowers.
