As soon as he had finished shopping in the city, Kouchisei had taken a direct path toward the bus station. The feeling that he could be safe inside his home was a powerful one, and it gave him the energy to move back faster than the sluggish pace at which he'd arrived. The occurances of that night had made him appreciate how quiet his home was, static and unchanging. It was a sanctuary at this time - whatever happened there were good things. He perceived the sound of overhead traffic and suddenly it felt ten times colder.
He pulled his scarf up over his nose, and made it a little tighter. His emotions were fraught enough that this was something he needed to convince himself he was safe. He wasn't the only person here; his eyes laid on a sneezing girl ahead. He passed her; things had made him think a little harder, but talking to a stranger was too weird.
