Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Whole School.
WHAT: Oh God.
WHERE: School.
WHEN: After first Idol event.
WHY: ~

As the sun rises and the students of Nanakamado wake up they will see that something is horribly horribly wrong.

Someone has vandalized the school.

However, this is no usual vandalism, students will find their shampoo and conditioner bottles have been filled with glitter glue, as have the soap dispensers in all the bathrooms including the staff ones.

As they emerge from their dorm rooms they will find large smiley face stickers stuck on their doors, along with cuddly animals that have been nailed on. However those Persona Users that live in the dorms will find that nailed onto their doors are perfectly detailed cuddly fluffy versions of their personas and the hugdoll that represents them is tied up in tinsel and suspended from the ceiling in the hall.

When the students finally venture out into the school grounds they will see a huge banner spread across the buildings with the words ‘SMILE TODAY LASTS FOLEVER’ in lime green letters and bad English. Confetti and glitter has been sprinkled across the grounds along with more stickers on every door and window.
Inside the school things get weirder. Half the school has more cuddly toys nailed to the walls, and in some places there is so much glitter on the floor it is knee high and hard to walk through. More banners are put up with cheerful slogans, streamers and cheap sparkly decorations have been hung up in the classrooms and all the books have been replaced with kids fairytales, and childish pictures of animals have been drawn on the boards. Bowls of sweets and mugs of chocolate milk are sat on each desk.

The other half of the school has had all the lightbulbs replaced with dim coloured ones, and the windows have been blacked out. Speakers have been hidden and are constantly looping the first few seconds of Lady Rara’s Awful Affair, stacks of jello shots are piled up on desks, small sequined minidresses and killer heels litter the corridors and a giant discoball has been hung up in the gym. And what seems to be a kissing booth has been set up with a sign saying ‘One kiss FREEEEEEE’.

Those Persona Users that live at home, will find a toy version of their persona nailed to their desk, and their hugdoll hung from the ceiling above their desk with tinsel.

The doll of Yomotsu-Shikome would have had been almost cute if it wasn't a floating zombie head. The hugdoll would have been a sweet surprise, were it not for the fact that it did not belong out of the Butterfly Room. As it stood, Toru was utterly horrified. Both were stuffed under his bed, and he rushed to school, intent on telling the others about this, and maybe even checking the Butterfly Room itself.

Then he got into the building. Glitter, confetti, stuffed toys, smiley faces... it was a cheer overload, and somehow even more disturbing, like the school had become a dungeon.

His reaction, then, was perhaps appropriate.

"WHAT THE HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL?!"

She had glitter in her shoes. It was not pleasant.

And her hair was still damp. And sparling and had a miniscule chance of drying in an acceptable state. She hadn't managed to get all the glue out because all she had to wash it out with was more glue.

She was already conviced something was very, very, very wrong with this whole scenario but waded through glitter t the classroom out of sheer determination becuase she did not miss lessons.

And there was baba yaga with a nail through her neck

And there was baba yaga with a nail through her neck

And Maeko suddenly went very very pale and sat down before she fell down.

Tom had spent the entire night before hand awake, half researching the case, and half trying to find an appropriate spot for a first date When he stepped out of his room to get more coffe he found, first his hugdoll, and second his persona. His first thought was simply "shadow"

He grabbed the stuffed animals and moved down the hall as quickly and indiscreetly as possible to check and see if anyone else had been singled out in such a manner. Seeing that they had , he realized how dangerous the situation was.

Every single member of the team felt the same sensations as their hug dolls. On top of that, the stuffed personas singled them out.

Tom spent the morning sneaking around the school, gathering stuffed animals not nailed to peoples doors, and replacing the stuffed personas, and more importantly collecting any hug dolls left out in public. He knew he wouldn't get them before they were seen, but he needed to try.

Renju's habit of waking up bright and early every morning is one that she had no desire to break. As usual, the first thing she did was put on her slippers and old, threadbare robe--though her pajamas weren't exactly revealing enough that she needed the extra coverage--and shuffle out the door towards the bathrooms.

This morning, she didn't get past the threshold.

She simply stared at the hanged hugdoll for a good ten seconds, the sight taking a bit of time to cut through her sleep-fogged brain. Once it did, she carefully, cautiously untangled it from its makeshift noose and slipped it into a pocket of her robe.

I am not going to think about this until I've had my shower. Thus resolved, she headed for the bathroom, grabbing her usual stall before anyone but the athletes could fill the room with their noise and chattering. The water was pleasantly cool, and she indulged herself a bit by standing under the spray for a little longer than usual before squirting a handful of shampoo into her hand.

Odd, she thought as she worked it into her hair. It's not usually... this... sticky?

...

It was impossible for a scrawny four-foot-ten girl with sparkly hair and a plush doll half hanging out of her bag to look scary, but Renju damn well gave it her best shot as she stormed into the school, wading through easily knee-high glitter. She wasn't heading for class right now--oh, no, not now. She'd gotten here early today. She was going to hunt down the first team member she could find and she was going to find out what was going on right this minute.

Masami woke up later than usual, having had a great deal of trouble sleeping after the idol competition. She wasn't even sure she wanted to go to school, not after having been on stage in that outfit just the day before. Still, knowing that she probably shouldn't skip a day for no real reason, she went about her normal morning routine, starting to heat some water before stepping out to go to the bathroom to wash her face.

She stopped upon seeing what was attached to her door.

She could only think of the possible implications of what had happened as she took Yoshitsune off her door and got her hugdoll down, but realizing that just thinking on her own wouldn't get her anywhere, she decided it was better to just hurry on to school where she could meet up with some of the other members of the team who were better at thinking.

Skipping a good part of her morning routine, she got together her things and put both her hugdoll and the Yoshitsune doll into her bag. For good measure, she also grabbed her kendo weapons bag, making sure she had two bokken in there just in case. Lastly, she practically threw some tea leaves into her travel cup and poured the hot water in before rushing out the door hurriedly.

Her mind was still numb when she got to school, and it couldn't really get any number upon seeing the state of the place. She shoved her own thoughts aside and stalked the halls looking for anyone else on the team, doing her best to ignore the abundant(to say the least) glitter.

It wasn't too long before Masami found Renju, and seeing the glitter in her classmate's hair, she was instantly glad that she usually showered at night(a result of her usually practicing kendo forms at night as a way to cool down before bed). "Sonozaki-san," she greeted, and without even a real bow, she jumped straight to the point. "Do you have any idea what's going on?"

"I have a hunch." Renju picked irritably at the glue stuck in her hair. Of course it had to be multi-colored. Of course. At least Masami appeared to have escaped that.

"Though this is obviously different from the usual," she added, kicking up a shower of still more glitter. It reminded her of the MC from the idol competition. Mie-buchou, wasn't it? It had been hard to tell under all that sparkle... "Normally it's not so... wide-ranging."

"...What's your hunch?" Masami asked, "I mean, my first idea was related to... you know, but like you said, it's not normally like this."

She took a sip of her tea. "Either way, I'll just say this: I'm pretty..." pissed off was what she wanted to say, but she stopped herself. "...worried about this. We should try to get the others together."

"I'm sorry to say that I don't have a clue besides that. I couldn't imagine who this might be." Renju shifted her bag, the hugdoll bouncing around a bit as she did so. She'd learned quickly that they were "inactive" outside the Butterfly Room, much to her relief. "But if they were capable of this, then I'd imagine the others would have done far worse..."

She sighed and shook her head. "At any rate, I don't think there's anything we can do for the moment but look further into this when we can."

Really, she chided herself, Toshi was being silly for letting this freak her out. They'd known for a while that someone out there was trying to kill them, right? But the Hemsut nailed to her door and the fact that apparently no one had been able to put a stop to the mass defacing of public areas meant that it would be a pretty simple matter if they wanted to just do it directly, didn't it?

She tried pulling the nail out, but she didn't have any proper nail-removing tool. Just leaving her Persona up on the door, stuffed or not, struck her as a bad idea, but there was school soon and Toshi was obligated to go. She was just supposed to smile and carry on, right?
No, wrong--that was wrong--

Either way she wanted out of the dorms as quickly as possible, so she went to school with her hair somewhat messed-up and her uniform askew. And school was not much better. She stopped in her tracks, staring at the "SMILE TODAY LASTS FOLEVER" banner. She felt sick. It showed.

From the moment Kouki entered the school building to the moment he sat down at his desk, he behaved as though nothing was wrong. In fact, he was calmer than usual. No odd statements, no inappropriate parkour, no interaction with the obvious changes to his settings. He walked peacefully through the halls, seemingly oblivious to the acts of bizarre vandalism.

And he smiled.

The state of the school didn't repulse Kai so much as it...amused him. Arriving early had allowed him the chance to see most of the school in its unspoilt glory, and he did have to say it was a great prank. The possibility of Paradise-shennanigans never once occured to him...until he arrived at his classroom.

Because Kai Yamada totally had his priorities in order, the first thing he did upon seeing the dolls of Shiisaa and himself was go "Ooh!" and try to inspect their craftsmanship. Then the meaning sunk in, and he ripped Shiisaa off of his desk with some force (regrettably tearing the paws a little - it was quite adorable), and stuffed it in his bag. Why couldn't Paradise ever leave him alone?

His hands shook as he reached to pull the doll-him out of the tinsel noose. The sight of himself hanged, even in plush doll form, was unsettling to say the least. The atmosphere of 2-B wasn't helping - if he could get his hands on Lady Rara right now, he'd shake her.

Kai stood by his desk and clutched his hugdoll, too overwhelmed to do anything else.

Yoshimi blinked at the (very sparkly) reflection in her bathroom mirror. When had she...? Sure, she couldn't clearly remember most of her activities from the previous night, but she felt pretty sure that nothing would have possessed her to drunkenly exchange her hair care products for glitter glue. Still, she chalked it up to one more bad decision on her part — maybe someone had taken her home and decided to play a prank on her after she'd blacked out? But she thought she remembered coming in by herself, without any glittery products.

Puzzled and still trying to towel the worst of the glue out of her hair, she tried the door to her apartment to see if it was locked. It was, and if she'd been too drunk to remember letting someone in, she'd definitely been too out of it to lock the door afterward.

The morning just grew more and more confusing (why was the school full of stuffed animals? Who was playing Awful Affair? Where could anyone get that much glitter?) until she reached her homeroom.

"Hey, does anyone know what's—"

Her hugdoll.

Her hugdoll was hanging from the ceiling by its neck.

No matter how hard Yoshimi tried to finish her sentence, she couldn't seem to manage anything but terrified whimpering.

What Kouchisei saw when he arrived that morning was a huge change in colour. These were not fine school grounds. The buildings and gardens had been transformed with mismatches of colour one expected to see in a modern playgroup. The drawings and toys were simply childish. If the vandal had a point to make, they'd lost it.

How different the school was, he thought. They were letting in more and more people who lacked proper education. Satou's family. New money. He did not mind the poor or those others. He just expected them to have manners.

But then he reached his desk, and the idea it was a childish prank was blown apart. The stare he visited on the plush toy could have caused more of the same if looks could kill. He tore it off, shredding the fabric, and gripped it in his hand. His heart was beating faster.

An announcement had gone out that the school was going to be closed, to be cleaned, however the janitors seemed to be...not present.

If someone happened to be, coincidentally, somehow, walking past one of the janitorial closets as they return to the dorms, they would hear a strange thumping coming out of it, slightly masked by the Lady Rara music.

However if someone were to open the closet, they might find out something useful, see something that helped them. Or something otherwise useful.

Toru couldn't help but notice the sound. It managed to be audible and ominous at the same time, quite a feat over the Lady Rara music. He couldn't begin to even think of what the sound could possibly be, other than students engaging in illicit relations, but it fascinated him all the same.

Standing there, he contemplated opening it. Perhaps. Only if he could get backup, though.

Thus, he sent out a text to Yoshimi and Kiriko.

Renju's anger had subsided slightly by the time the announcement came, sublimated into the stronger-than-usual urge to find whatever Shadow had done this, however, they'd managed it, and... well, she wouldn't be able to fight it, but nonetheless!

Still, she was quick to take the opportunity to get out of the Great Glitter Lake, even if just for a little while (presumably they'd have to come back to investigate, after all). On her way to the exit, though, she heard an odd noise through the awful, awful music.

She stopped, cocked her head to listen. There it was again. And there was Toru, standing by a closet. Odd. She walked up a bit closer, still feeling distinctly ridiculous with all this around her. "Ah, Ishinomori-san," she said, speaking up a bit to be heard over the ghastly music. "You heard it, too?"

Really, Keiichi was in the school because of his father's incredulous text message. Considering how murderously angry his dad was, he'd expected something horrific.

Well, more so than a stuffed Agni and his hugdoll hanging from a tinsel noose; he somehow doubted dad would know about those things.

And school had been glittery. And RaRaed.

"I love this song," Keiichi said, agreeably, walking around the...rather glittery and shiny environment until he saw Sonozaki-san and Ishinomori-san standing by a closet.

"Um, what's going on," he asked, not that he expected anyone to know.

He made a gesture with his head, towards the closet. "I-I know a lot is going on, but... well, there are suspicious sounds coming out of this closet here. I... don't really want to have to open it alone, but I don't want to leave it, either."

Kiriko arrived looking frazzled. She had apparently managed to avoid getting glitterglue'd, though the rainbow sparkles on her palms informed anyone with a good enough eye to see them that it had been a dangerously close call. She arrived to the closet with Kozue close behind her, a pair of scissors clutched in one hand and her cell phone in the other.

"Sorry - I was - well..." She looked back at Kozue.

From where she was trailing behind her roommate, it was easy to see that Kozue had not been as lucky. Her hair was now in a pony-tail (and she was distinctly out of school uniform, having phoned the office to tell them she was extremely physically ill and would not be coming in), but when she moved?

It sparkled. Sparkle sparkle sparkle. And Kondo looked on the verge of tears. Her eyes were fixed on the scissors in Kiriko's hand.

"I'll-- I'll never talk to you again if you so much as..."

She trailed off, looking around her at the gathering group and the Highly Suspicious Closet.

Unlike Renju, Masami would be able to fight the Shadow who had done all this(if it was indeed a Shadow), and she would be more than happy to take it all out on the Shadow for the both of them. Thankfully she herself had avoided a glitter glue incident, but it'd be OK to take anger for being forced onstage in that outfit yesterday out on a Shadow, right?

Her train of thought had been following such a line when she heard some sounds through the incessant racket of the music(which Masami hadn't really disliked before, but now definitely did due to association with this whole debacle). Curious, she followed the sound to check it out, and found a number of the team there, gathered around the closet doors.

"Hey, did you all hear the sound too?" she asked those present, wasting no time with formalities.

Yoshimi showed up quickly enough, nervously clutching her hugdoll and the stuffed Persona. She'd been high-tailing it for the exit well before the announcement that the school was closed, and while she'd had no particular desire to keep going after she got the text, turning back to investigate whatever could stand out as particularly suspicious in the middle of Glitter Hell also didn't appeal to her much.

Kiriko looked at Toru. Then back at Kozue. Then back at Toru. Then the closet. Then Toru again.

It was suspicious. On the other hand, it was a closet. As long as she turned the door the right way, it's not like anything really dangerous could come out, right? Well, not unless someone had glitter-glue'd Reizo's hair and locked him in a closet, in which case there would be a bloodbath, but she was pretty sure it wasn't and the thought was somehow more amusing than threatening anyway.

Kiriko stepped up to the plate and yanked the closet door open.

The closet opened!

What tumbled out was four men tied together with thick glittery rope, also an avalanche of glitter that they had been half buried in.

They were wearing janatorial overalls, they also had large furry bunny heads crammed on their heads, the heads for some reason had huge tophats and monacles.

The men were groaning, but the heads clearly were muffling their speech.

Kai had been on his way home, taking the long way in hopes of running into Kouki somewhere (he'd rather not go looking in a first-year classroom, and chances were Kouki was probably playing in a pile of glitter somewhere anyway, he thought) when he came upon a few of his teammates standing around the biggest pile of glitter.

Biggest, because it contained four men, two of which were still wearing Bunny Heads. He frowned, a mix between "What the hell" and "That's bad" and quickly went over.

"Need help?" he asked no one in particular, and set to work freeing someone else from their Bunny Head (the glitter that soon coated his hands, arms, and pantlegs was a necessary evil).

As the bunny heads were removed from the men, they all started coughing, a good deal of glitter had been shoved into the heads.

"Oh God." One of them finally spoke. "Oh God, that was..." He looked around, apparently perplexed to see the glitter and vandalism, not seeming to have seen it before.

"So this must be why we were knocked out..." Another one spoke looking around.

The third shook his head. "I thought they were gonna demolish it, or invade, that person kept talking about...about a tank right?"

Tom continued to stand there dumbstruck. Admitedly, Seiko was the only one during the check in who had expressed enjoyment of how the school had been vandalized. But he really didn't want to believe that, because of something he had done...

"Invade?" Kozue squeaked, alarmed. The part about a tank hit a chord in her memory, and she squinted, trying to remember why she should think a tank important. "... that person?" She asked, while trying to figure out how to get the janitorial staff free of their bonds as well as the excess glitter.

It was, she decided, also very good that she was doing them a favor; being in good with the janitors was never an awful thing.
