Who: Reizo, Misaki
What: Talk about awkward
Where: Roof of the school
When: Gym, as Miskai's skipping gym once again
Why: Because Misaki made an error in judgement.

Misaki was standing on the roof looking out over at the feild that lay below. She wondered at times if anyone noticed that she was skipping her gym class. Then figured probably not. The cool breeze fanned her hair as she sighed. Her fingers clasped behind her back and she wanted more then anything to not feel this sick feeling in her stomache. It felt like she had drunk bad milk and she really didn't like it. Running her hands though her hair she took a run and jumped onto the fence climbing up to the top to peer over it.

"Such a far drop," she muttered and looked down at the ground again. She knew that anyone coming up here would probably yell at her, not to mention the fact that they might see up her skirt. Misaki didn't care, honestly people did it all the time on the train and the bus, she just ignored it. "Wonder what would happen if I fell? Would they miss me at all?"

She rested her head on the cold metal and slipped one foot loose to have some fun. It was excting to her. One slip...she could tumble either way. Down from the top and to the ground breaking her neck, head, spine...god knew what else on the crash. Misaki wondered if people would freak out. If they did would they say something about how sad it was that such a nice girl died.

Nice girl....no one knew her honestly. No one ever asked, they just assumed, and she didn't mind it. When people looked at her, paid attention to her, they did so so they could get stuff from her. She had to do that, they needed her for something. Most people it was for the food, others was for how she looked as they wanted a cute idol like friend with them. She sighed some, did they really care? Probably not...that's why she wanted someone to actually care about her. To love her, not for what she could give them, need her for her and not for what she made for them.

That was why she liked Shirai...it was funny, out of the guys in her class he was one of the few, other then Toru, that didn't look at her like she was some sort of prize to have. Sure they wanted cute girlfriends, but after a while they got bored with her. She never put up a fight and guys over time got tired of it. After all most got what they wanted from her then left. Shirai was...different. He didn't want anything from her, he never acted like he was interested, and yet...she wante him to be. Why was it? She hated the idea of wanting him to notice her this badly, because she was sure that he noticed other girls over her. Then there was the fact that he thought she was looking at his ...junk.

He had a nice body, she wouldn't deny that, but she never stared at parts of him. If she did she looked at his face. A hot blush came over her cheeks. The time that his face was that close to her's the fact that he...she had wanted to kiss him...wanted...

"Nooo!" she yelled and tried to catch her breath! She had to get the note to meet her up there out of his shoe locker. Had to forget about all of it. If she didn't...then....she'd get jealous...and she didn't want to...but...

Misaki gripped the fence and hit the top with her small fist. "Stupid, stupid..."

A strong breeze murmuring over the roof and the an abandoned snack wrapper crackling when caught by it were the only two sounds for a long moment as he gawped sleepily at the girl. Had she really just admitted to wondering about suicide, wondering if people would miss her? Was this normal for civilians to say aloud? Reizo was not used to people wearing their hearts on their sleeves; it was hard to imagine anyone wanting to spill their guts to a boy with such a monstrous reputation, especially if he wasn’t the one pulling them out himself.

He let out a noise that was long ago abandoned in favor of actual words and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. This girl was a trip. Still, that great dead weight in his stomach didn’t form out of fun; he could still distinctly remember the way she’d smelled and the flush on her face when he’d gotten so stupidly close to her in his house. Maybe it was his own fault. He hadn’t needed to invite them in.

With all the economy of a sleepy giant, he spat out his cigarette and reached for his pack.

“I was asleep. I always nap up there,” he motioned behind him to the small square of roof above the door and lifted his cigarette pack, jostled it to see if any were left in the skinny package, then held it out in offering to the pink haired girl with a shrug of his wide shoulders. He was doing his best not to notice the almost iconic way her hair fluttered in the breeze and the sun seemed to catch her. His eyes dropped to escape the view, to her legs he noticed after a moment, then jerked back up to over her shoulder guiltily.

“People would miss you,” he added almost in an afterthought, eyes finally finding hers.

Misaki glanced up at him. It was like a strange moment from Jack and the Bean Stalk. The sleeping giant had discovered the smaller boy Jack stealing the goose and the harp and had in the end given chase. The ending of the tale ended in four ways. The first was that the Giant never caught Jack and he chopped down the bean stalk and the giant was stuck up in the clouds forever and Jack lived happily. The second had it where the giant followed Jack down and the bean stalk was chopped down only to have it where the giant fell to his death, and either he broke his neck, or Jack or his mother killed him. The third ending was where the mother had climbed back up and was killed by the giant in lew of Jack and the bean stalk was either cut down or withered on its own. The last was the one that Misaki thought of. This ending was the one that most people avoided, where Jack escaped from the giant but in the end fell out of the clouds because his mother cut down the stalk in fear of the giant following.

Watching Shirai was like being watched by the Giant, were the fence not there she would be Jack and fall back. Shaking the chill from her body, she loosened her tie and unbuttoned the top two buttons of her shirt, then reached up and took the cigarette. Misaki looked at it a moment looked at the ground for a second or two before taking it out again and putting it behind her ear. She figured it would be rude to not at least take it as he offered, "I'll give it to Shizuka neesan's boyfriend. He smokes and is always looking for one."

"Thanks, but don't make me laugh. People will miss me? Like who? Maeko-chan, Kiriko-chan? Really, you think so. You'd be daft to think that they would seriously get over my death that slowly," she gave an ironic laugh and pulled the cancer stick from behind her ear. "Wonder if this is his brand..."

Misaki shook her head figuring that it really wouldn't matter to her sister's boyfriend if it was or wasn't, "Are you skipping out of gym too?"

He cocked an eyebrow at her but remained silent, content to just watch her and struggle to keep his eyes level with her face and not drop down to her unbuttoned top. It -was- hot after all, she wasn’t trying to seduce him or anything. Er, right? He silently chided himself for even wondering it; it was Misaki, pink-haired and innocent.

And so, so dramatic. He shook his head and fished a cigarette out of its pack and lit it, eyes skimming her as he bent his head and covered the cigarette from the prevalent rooftop wind. He knelt down to return the pack to the “secret” place in his sock before moseying over beside her to lean in against the chain link fence ringing the roof and look down onto the gym field.

“No,” he drawled lazily, sleep still tainting his speech. “I was just having a nap, as usual. Just happened that today it including sleeping through gym.” He eyed her sidelong, wondering the best way to get her away from her oddly macabre thoughts.

“Left that confession note in my shoe locker yet?” He half-chuckled, giving away that he didn’t know about the one she actually had left and that he thought the best way to avoid an awkward situation was to joke about it.

He had to bring that up...he just had to bring that up. She sighed and shook her head looking out into the feild. "They remind me of ants down there. You know...running around not really going anywhere. Like in an ant farm. Sure they think they're going somewhere but then when they get to the bottom they realize they aren't and try to go another way. This happens over and over...and well eventually they die or something. I don't know..."

Misaki looked at Reizo kindly, "Wonder if that's what it's like for us here. We run and run, and think we're getting somewhere but we're not. OR at least we don't think we are, and then we are, then we hit a glass wall. I'm scared of hitting that wall."

She looked down at her feet, "To be honest...I haven't...but...I don't want your answer just yet. Even though you know...I would rather be able to look you in the eye and tell you to your face then just leave you a note. It just seems, wrong, to tell you that way. So until I can tell you too your face, wait on your answer to me okay. Don't tell Kiriko-chan please. She's worried I'm hanging around you too much."

Misaki looked out again and sighed, the wind teased her locks blowing them around her cheeks and lips, and she pushed the loose ends behind her ear and seemed deep in thought for a moment, then looked back at him, her eyes meeting his, "There's something I need to ask you. Can you teach me how to fight? I...I want to be able to protect myself so that the others can concetrate in that place rather then worry about me."

He frowned around his cigarette as she spoke, head canted to one side as he leaned in and curled his fingers inside the rings of the fence. He laid his forehead against it, peering down at the kids running and moving around the field. The school wasn’t quite tall enough to turn them into ant-like-specks, but he got the gist of what she was saying and gave a shrug of his broad shoulders.

“Nothing to do but knock the wall down then,” he said with all the cavalier one would expect of a yakuza, people who openly defied and railed against social stigmas and laws. He puffed out a haze of smoke out of the corner of his mouth away from the girl and pushed away with a rattle from the fence, and turned to face her when she began answering him seriously about the letter, strained smirk lighting on his lips.

He wasn’t sure what he’d been hoping for, but her answer wasn’t a lean towards anything, just more stalling. It was a relief, if an almost disappointing one. He nodded curtly, and cocked an eyebrow at the idea of Kiriko being concerned for Misaki. Did he really seem like some sort of creep pervert thug? He made a mental note to yell at her later.

“Why would she be worried? It’s not as if I’d take advantage of you,” he rumbled, even as he leaned in with an almost predatory glint in his eye and a cocky smirk settled on his lips, giving the impression that that might in fact be a bald faced lie. “And you wouldn’t let me either. Right?” The smirk grew teasing and he reclined away from her.

“Do I look like I know jackshit about fans?” He snorted, shaking his head, “No, but there is some school of fighting that involves those big ass iron fans samurai would use way back when. I’m sure you could track down a school that teaches it.”

He frowned and made his way back up onto the roof of the door, taking a perch on the ledge and dangling his legs over it.

“Besides, I only know how to hurt people, not defend myself.” His eyes dropped to her, glues on her thin arms and then dropping to her legs. He took a long look at them, one reason being that he was a leg man, the other reason being that he was actually studying the musculature. “You’d need some serious conditioning to even approach making anything I could teach you useful."

"Don't you think knocking down walls would be a bit of a pain? What if it's a support wall," she teased him some but smiled. She was relieved that he was being understanging, until he got that close to her again and she flushed as pink as her hair and tried despreately to avoid his gaze. Misaki let a breath out when he moved away from her. Thankful that her impulse was checked and she looked at him curiously.

"Well you did get them for me so...I thought..." she started then shook her head. "You don't need to teach me about the fans, I just want to know how to defend myself. You know...like kick someone if they come at me. I don't...I don't want to be a burden on anyone Shirai-san."

Misaki quickly climbed up after him then hopped up on the ledge. One thing her bother had taught her was climbing fences and moving quickly. She was speedy when she wanted to be, and she didn't want him to judge her on the way she appeared. Kneeling down she clasped her hands, "Please Shirai-san! Please give me a few lessons. I won't be a pain and I won't tell anyone. Just please! I don't want anyone getting hurt becuase of me."

He regarded her with some measure of displeasure, giving his head another shake after running a hand through his hair. “Get off your knees, you’ll hurt them,” he warned through another thick puff of smoke and a flick of his eyes. Kick someone who came after her? She could already fucking do that, and it wasn’t difficult to figure out just where to kick some guy who was coming at her. Even a weakling could score a good one to the nads and have an offender clutching themselves and on their knees.

“No one’s going to get hurt because of you,” he sighed, a little exasperated by the mere idea of teaching Misaki how to fight. He’d probably hurt her somehow, or she’d hurt herself or get overconfident because of any sort of training and get hurt when she was supposed to applying what she learned..

“Anyone can defend themselves if they want to. Gouging eyes, carrying a small weapon, crotch shots, biting,” he rolled his shoulders in another shrug, “There’s nothing wrong with fighting dirty. Survival should be everyone’s number one goal when fighting, and I can’t teach you how to want to live any more than you already know how to.”

Misaki looked down some and sighed sitting next to him then, "But I still want to learn Shirai-san...I don't...I don't want to be the weak link. I don't want to hold other's back and that's what I'm doing. You and Maeko chan and Kiriko chan and everyone...they all work so hard and I wind up making them...go slow."

She pulled up her knees and sighed, "It's just not fair. I mean even if I kick or bite or such, yeah it will hurt, but that's not what I want to do. I want to be able to actually stop someone from landing a blow. Or more likely stop a shadow from doing it."

Misaki looked at him gently, "I don't like being seen as weak."

“What’re you talking about? You’re a backbone for us in there with your heals. It’s not like physical prowess matters when you’re conjuring up crazy ass gods from your head,” or in his case, a stupidly willful dog who only seemed to listen to him after being bribed with a damned cigarette. Anger stabbed through him, and something akin to jealousy, when he thought back on how he’d been stuck with that damned dog and the others had crazy looking guys with spears.

.. At least he didn’t have the mummy with the puppet.

“Besides,” he started, finally looking at her dead-on again, “Why would you be fighting anywhere else? It’s not like you’re a delinquent or something. That god you summon is enough..” He trailed off, then frowned at her, “And why are you asking me of all people? Wouldn’t a martial arts instructor be better?”

"If I'm such a help why is it that everyone worries about me?! Why is it that all I could do was make people feel better. I mean. Maeko chan and Toshimi chan can do the same thing, and I bet they can better then me," she ducked her head down and bit her lip. "And it's not a god it's an immortal bird that rise from the ashes over and over again."

She wiped her eyes, "Sorry Shirai-san but I wish I was more like you. I wish I didn't..." her voice lowered some, "I wish I didn't feel so alone half the time." Breathing out she sniffed some, "And you have a cool god...I mean it's a dog, loyal, true...better to have a dog then a bird that dies and comes back made out of fire right?"

Reizo ran a hand through his hair with an exasperated sigh, eyes not quite reaching Misaki’s any longer and something of a frown settling on his lips. This girl, yeesh. “You’re not any more useless than anyone else there-- you keep us healthy and shoot fire at shit!” And hit things ineffectually with those weird-o fans of yours.. He stifled the laugh bubbling up in his throat with a guilt lashing-- she was asking him to help her grow stronger, and here he was about to laugh at her fans. That wouldn’t help anything.

He eyed her warily out of the corner of his eye, scratching the back of his head before dropping his eyes to the slim stick of his cigarette. He was unsure of what she was getting at. He wasn’t alone? Did she think he had the freedom to freely mix with people at school like she did? He grumped inwardly at the absurd statement, then grumped outwardly at her persona comment.

“What! Yeah, a dog with a detachable head and all the helpfulness of a 4 year old child is awesome. Totally cool.” He folded his arms and cocked his head away from her, instead skimming his eyes over the city. “At least yours listens to you.”

Silence rolled over them and he stood up to walk over to the crudely put together blanket--several of the swimming team’s bigger, fluffier towels all stapled together-- and plopped back down onto his back. Arms folded beneath his head and legs crossed at the ankles, he laid back and watched the wispy trails of cigarette smoke string up into the sky and break apart.

“I guess I could teach you a thing or two,” he grumbled, deciding that it’d be best to agree with the emotional whirlwind that was Misaki instead of fighting it. “But not today, rabbit,” he added quickly.

Misaki looked at him suprised to hear this from Reizo of all people. The fact that he felt this way made her feel, oddly, happy. She smiled genuinely at the comment, "Well I'm glad at least someone thinks so."

She watched him then laughed, "Well he is a puppy in a lot of ways. He's just looking for attention and respect that's all. He probably will get better as he gets older and gets more loyal like all puppies do as they mature." Misaki thought a moment, then shook her head. "Not really, it does listen but at times it feels as if it's really pitiying me."

Watching him go over to the blanket she giggled, "Oh that's where they went to. Really you will! Thank you Shirai-san!"

Getting up she bent down over him and smiled, "You really are more and more amazing Shirai san. Just when I think I have you figured out you totally change my perception of you."

“You’re blocking the sun, Rabbit,” he grumbled, one eye cracking open to watch her, lips dipping into a slightly impatient frown. Why was she getting so damned close? Wasn’t this something they were supposed to be avoiding? Well, it was a bit hypocritical, given his eye had dropped to admire the slope of her legs disappearing into her hanging skirt. He looked back into her face guiltily, frown growing and both eyes focused on her. And how the smoke was flying directly into her face. Didn’t that bother her?

One impatient sigh later and he sat back up, scooting back so it wouldn’t lead to any awkward proximity and inadvertent anime kisses. That was all he needed. Misaki would have a fit if they got involved and went into that stupid shadow world. He could almost imagine the talks she’d give him.

He rubbed his head grumpily, fingers flexing in his hair as he eyed her.

“What’re you on about? You’re just gonna pester me if I don’t agree to it, and it’s not like you lot couldn’t use some whipping into shape. I’m doing it just as much for me as you.”

"Whipping into shape? Well I suppose, my niisan says I'm natrually flexable. I'm not sure though. Anyway," she sat down across from him and smiled, pointing at the towels. "Those, I was looking for more for the soccer club. Satou-sempai needed them for the team but I couldn't find anymore. Don't worry I won't tell them."

She closed her eyes and listened to the birds that were twittering in the trees. "It's nice up here. Quiet really..." Misaki chuckled some, "Oh the smoke didn't bother me, Shizuka neechan's boyfriend smokes too, I'm used to waking him up when he's laying on the couch smoking."

"Why are you doing it for you? Oh! I need to get you something to thank you! Hummm...You know..." she grinned. "I could make you a new uniform coat if you'd like? One that won't get you in trouble but still looks very cool."

“Being flexible ain’t got jackshit to do with fighting. This ain’t the movies,” he muttered, looking thoroughly displeased at the idea. He was really not fond of everyone taking their cues from the damned movies. He was SUPER not fond of the jokes the yakuza were made out to be in a lot of movies-- especially American ones. He frowned and scratches his head again. Was Misaki’s scatterbrain contagious? He groaned internally at the idea and just frowned harder outwardly, and fixed her with a confused look.

“Who asked if the smoke bothered you? You came to me, not vice-versa..”

He shrug his shoulders. He’d always liked the idea of a true banchou coat, but the few times he’d worn one he’d felt fucking dorky. Maybe she could make him something.. Wait, this was Misaki.

“You wouldn’t make it pink or anything, would you?”

Misaki blinked at him then burst out laughing at the thought and had to cover her mouth and hold her side so she could control the giggles she was having from the thought of a pink banchou coat. Shaking some still as she tried to talk she grinned and wiped her eye with her finger.

"No no no...it won't be pink I promise. I'll have to get your size though. Hummm, do you come up here every day? I could bring my book and take your measurments then to be sure of your lenghs and such. Normally I would eyeball the sizing, but I want to be safe and give you more room so it will drape properly."

She studied him seriously, her eyes taking in the collar of his neck, the broad shoulders and his chest, and torso. Misaki tried to get an accurate shape image of Reizo in her mind and cocked her head back some looking up and then closed her eyes, "Black...with red in the inside I would think, to give it a bit of dramatic."

Looking back at him she crossed her arms and grinned, "Yeah that would work."

"Oh and about the flexiblity thing, I know that the movies are fake, but what my niisan means is that normally I can learn to dodge well when I need to. He used to teach me how to avoid being hit for dodge ball in elemetary school."

“Yeah, I’m up here every day or so,” he grunted out, head tilting back to stare up at the sky. This spot was particularly good because most didn’t look up here. Mainly because he’d marked it as his territory since the beginning of the school year and beaten up the previous few boys who were a bit too stubborn for their own good. Reizo supposed it was his predator’s instinct that gave him a fondness for heights. Well, he liked to think it was something as cool as that.

“Black and red? Ain’t red a bit.. Why not silver instead of black or something?” He asked, half-distracted by the clouds bumbling lazily across the sky. It might have been relaxing had he not had Misaki up there and so close to him. Then again, they were alone..

He frowned, head snapping back in place to look at her critically. His eyes skimmed over her, sticking to places any 15 year old’s eyes would stick for a moment, and then he cocked his head and an eyebrow.

“You’re always mentioning your siblings, huh?”

"Then I'll make it Sliver and red or whatever colors you want." Misaki marked then let out a long sigh when he mentioned her siblings. She pulled up her knees and ran her finger over the roof top and tapped it.

"It's...hard...in my house. Everyone's really smart. My mother's a scientist and my father is a mathmatician. Mother tends to look at everything with a very critical eye, or very analytical view of things. If you're not in a field that deals with biolgical, astrophysical, or nuclear science then you're kinda looked down upon." Misaki glanced up at him then back down, "Dad...tends to not get emotional stuff. He likes to think numbers can solve a lot of problems. They can but not everything."

Laying her legs out she glanced up at the clouds, "Hikaru-niikun is my oldest brother, he's great at business, knows a lot about plants, why he opened up a florist shop. He was a great sportsman, and the first in the family to get awared MVP in sports. My sisters Hotoro and Shizuka are both really intellegent, Hotoro is going to be a doctor, and Shizuka's in her last year of high school, only she goes to that other elite school that specializes in mathmatics that's down the road. She's really popular there. Mom bought her a car just last year for her birthday."

Pushing back a lock of hair she sighed, "Tomako, my younger bother is in middle school and already they're talking about moving him up a grade or two. He's a wiz a geography and history and all that other stuff. Then there are the twins Nami and Keito and they're still young but are the best in their class."

Misaki gave a weak smiled, "I'm the black sheep of my family. Outside of Tomako and Hikaru, and the twins, I'm kinda pitied. I mean...I don't ever get great grades, I'm not interested in chemistry, or astrophysics, or..." she shook her head, "All I can do is sew and cook. So of course I talk about them. I'm always being compared to them at home. Hard to not talk about them."

Misaki looked up and scowled some, "And I don't want pity for it, okay. Too many people give me that, especially the teacher's here. 'I'm sorry that you're not as smart as Hotoro. Maybe one day you'll do better right. She was such a good student.'" Misaki made a face, "She's such a bitch at times. Nothing ever makes them happy with me. No matter what I do."

She glanced at Reizo and smiled some, "At least with you I can tell that you have a good relationship with your mother, why else keep the place as clean as you do. You must love her a lot to treat the place like that, and keep stuff out like the cookie jar." Misaki looked away adding, "By the way, do I ever get the recipe for those cookies? They wern't store bought, I know the differnces. I make cookies from scratch all the time."

The large boy’s eyes nearly glazed over and he watched Misaki bovinely as she went about detailing and describing her family, then was quickly wiped off his face when he actually heard Misaki curse. The look he gave her said it all: whoareyouandwhatdidyoudowithinnocentlittlemisaki? Still, he couldn’t suppress the laugh it pulled out of him. It was too funny to see the gentle little rabbit scowl and curse and talk bad about someone.

He shook his head, chuckle dying off as he ran a hand through his hair. “It’s hard not to keep stuff she gives me out of threats of bodily harm. Maybe if you ever met her outside of some formal gathering, you’d know what a true terror she is,” he said, not unfondly, then frowned. Was she ever going to give that cookie recipe business up?

“Mom made him,” he lied, but his eyes found hers and there was no real giveaway that it was one. “Maybe I could get it from her.”

Misaki blinked when he laughed and shook her head, "You should laugh more you have a nice laugh."

"Hummm," Misaki nodded and sighed looking up at the clouds. "Well when you can I wouldn't mind getting it. She seems like a very nice person though, she had you right?"

Reizo’s eyes bored into hers, face locked into an incomprehensibly blank expression. He wasn’t entirely sure how to take her-- she knew the rumors about him and she had to know who his parents were, or would know eventually. Would she smile so easily around him when she found out he was the heir to a legacy of drugs and murder and prostitution? He would never dirty his hands by directly pimping or peddling, but he would be behind it all.

“Alright,” he agreed, brow furrowed and frowning in thought. She’d never make it in his world. She was too nice, he believed. Not nearly as strong as his mother. None of them were as strong as her. Monster fighting was tough and violent work, that much was true, but there was nothing inherently wrong with it. Hell, most of them probably felt something like heroes when they were in that world. He sometimes had glimmers of that as well.

He leaned back on the heels of his palms, cigarette jutting out of his mouth and the shadow of a fat, happy cloud easing across them. It was a pleasant if brief breather from the bone-baking heat of the sun, but did little for the tickle of thirst and smoke in the back of his throat. He watched her silently, wisps of smoke steadily streaming out of the corner of his mouth.

Misaki sighed, it was different in her world compared to all theres. Sure she was certain that Reizo's life wasn't exactly easy there were hints of that all over, and it wasn't like she ignored it, but still there was something inheritly nice about at least feeling love from a family. Not being analyzed by a professor of a mother who only saw you when she wanted to, and promptly ignored you when you didn't match the criteria that she had created in making you.

Would anyone really be up to her parents standards. Probably only sons of fellow Academia who would bore her to death with their rational on the expenditures of life and the molecular transfers of biological cell structures in various small insects used to check out gene tissues for future drugs or god knew what. And it wasn't that she couldn't talk about that sort of thing, heaven knew she was forced to when her parents had company over and she had to mingle with them. But the truth was she dispised that sort of life. She never wanted a part of it, the whole snob feeling of the sicentific and the mathmatically inclined made her sick. It always had.

The amusing thing was, if she just applied herself she could be getting better grades. Math was never her forte, but if she converted the problems into something like mesurements it made the work easier. Sciene on the other hand was something that was too close to her mother, and made her just not want to do it, the same as gym. Her mother had been a track runner and excelled at it, thus expected Misaki to do so too when she realized her daughter could run when she was a child.

Watching Reizo she had to smile. He lived in a less complicated world. One where you didn't have to be seen as perfect, or snub those who were't the top of the class. Feeling happy she laid back on the top and closed her eyes, resting her hands behind her head letting the slight breeze tickle her cheeks.

"Shriai san...what do you honestly think of me? As a person, I mean? Just curious..."

He gave as hefty a shrug of his broad shoulders as he could in that position and tipped his head back once more, lips pressed into a hard line around his smoking cigarette and eyes half-lidded in a sleepily pensive look up into the bright-blue horizon. He was struck with the reminder that everyone had their own stories and struggles, and maybe Misaki had given him some hints to hers with this oddly serious conversation. Well, it wasn’t as if he blamed her for worrying about being a burden to others, given the way Maeko seemed to guard her. She wasn’t the only offender, of course.

“Mm,” he rumbled, more to make noise than anything else. He righted his head and measured her with as appraising a look as he could manage, and sat silent for a time that might have felt like an eternity for anyone caught in that stare. He pushed off his hands and into a proper sitting position, one hand reaching to rub at his chin and the other finding his cigarette and flicking away the butt that was left.

“I gave you the name Rabbit for a reason,” he finally said after scrutinizing her. He stood up, stretched his arms high above his head, then offered her one to help her up.

“Now’s not the time for such serious conversations, Rabbit. I’m not even equipped to answer that sort of thing. Ask Maeko-chan or Ikeda-bitch.”

Misaki glanced at his hand, and took with her smaller one. It was interestings, he had such bigger hands then hers, she'd never stopped to notice. She hopped up and stared at him, "Alright then answer me this much, do you honestly think I'm the sort of person that could honestly have someone care about me? Just me, not for what I did to them, or for them. I'm asking you because Kiriko chan, and don't call her names like that it's rude and she's not that sort of person," Mentally she added to herself, Because I know what real bitches are like, "would probably give me a lecture about how I should be more confident in myself, and Maeko-chan would gloss over it or just act like I'm being silly."

Misaki looked at him gently, "I know you'll give me a blunt answer but I know it'll be honest. And I'd rather have that then someone covering the truth from me."

She tilted her head and smiled cheerfully, "By the way where should we meet for lessons?"

She'd forgotten that she had not let go of his hand.
