MONDAY MORNING
Who: Everyone
What: News
Where: Main Hall
When: Monday Morning
Why: Paradise has claimed another victim.

An assembly had been called first thing monday morning. Teachers took thier seats, Ishino-sensei and Aomori's empty. None of them seemed happy.

A great portion of the school was taped off, students would have noticed this already. Police officers were running around but were saying nothing to the students.

"As you've probably noticed." The counselor began, pausing to select words. "The police are working in the school. They are not to be disturbed. Please pick up a temporary timetable after this session, some lessons have been relocated to allow them to work without interruption."

He paused, adjusting his glasses.

"I also regret to inform you all that our colleague Aomori-sensei has passed on. A service will be held later this week. Sports clubs will not be meeting until further notice."

The student body, who had mostly fallen silent when he started talking, broke out in whispers.

Toru really wished he could feel bad about this. Really. But as it was, there could really be no love lost between him and a gym teacher, dead or otherwise. Gym had been unending hell for the decidedly unathletic young man, and Aomori had only been tolerable during the time in which he mindlessly accepted faked doctor's notes that allowed Toru (and many others) to skip out on physical education. But recently, that man had started cracking down on truants, especially the poor hikikomori fresh out of his ordeal in Paradise. He sank into his seat and grimaced a little.

"Does this mean that we don't have to go to gym? God, I hope so..." he said, mostly to himself.

Kouchisei sat upright. His hands gripped the chair arms for support. Hearing Hamasaki speak clearly, he realised the noise of his classmates had stopped and was feeling his chest rise and fall in time with his breathing. Aomori-sensei was dead? But the man teached gym! You didn't die doing gym!

He thought of his mother, and pushed up his glasses.

Looking around, he heard some wonder if this meant they'd skip gym. His lips pursed and his nails dug into the material his hands leant on. A man had died and they were worried about class! He didn't chastise them, though. He was too much of a coward for that.

A knot had begun developing in Toshimi's stomach when she came to school and saw the police everywhere. Inwardly, she'd tried to brace herself. There wouldn't be any more dead bodies now that they were working so hard in Paradise, right? She forced herself to believe it, ignoring the police presence to the best of her ability. To some extent, it was working. She sat in the assembly with her usual serene facial expression, right until the very moment when the counselor announced the gym teacher's death.

Instantly, the knot that had been forming in her stomach seemed to become a black hole. She turned pale as the blood drained out of her face. Her insides were churning. She felt dizzy. It couldn't be true, right? There had to be some mistake, right? He was just calling in sick today, right? She found herself trying to force her mouth to retain that ever-present smile, but as she caught herself it only added to her feeling of disgust. "Th-that can't be true," she said, her voice shaking as she tried to keep her tone optimistic. It was only a nightmare, Toshimi decided. She just needed to sleep more, she just needed to reduce her stress level, she just needed to keep herself from throwing up...

"I feel sick," she mumbled.

Maeko looked over at Misaki in the first year seats. She wanted to go over there to help her but it was impossible right now. She bit her lip, hardly unaffected by news herself but held together by concern for Misa-chan.

She turned when she heard a voice next to her. She hadn't noticed Toshimi until now.

"A-are you okay, Nawanaka-san?" She asked, certainly not panicking herself and looking for any excuse to think about something else. "Do you need to see the nurse? Or...or go outside for air? I'm sure you'll be excused if you're ill..."

Toshimi tried closing her eyes, but she couldn't remove herself from the situation. No, the odds that this was a nightmare were quickly slimming down into zero.

Someone was talking to her. She looked over at Maeko. "Oh--" She really would have liked to step outside, but, "The assembly..." Getting up now would cause too much of a scene.

She rested her head on the back of her seat and took a deep breath. This was a time for self-composure, she told herself. Having regained control, she sat up straight again and pasted a calm expression on her face. "I'm fine, thank you," she said politely. It was almost as if a different Toshimi was speaking than the nauseous girl a moment ago.

"Are you sure?" Maeko asked, a little unnerved by the sudden change but still too unfocussed to think too much of it. A teacher dead, when just a few days ago she'd seen him demonstrating how to put up a tent. It wasn't something she was entirely sure how to react to.

"If you're really okay...Once we're dismissed you could go to get some air maybe? I'm sure they'd excuse it if it was just for a few minutes, given the circumstances."

"No need to worry," Toshimi said pleasantly. She still felt rather ill in actuality, but pretending not to was distracting enough that she didn't have to think about the gym teacher's death anything. If she could just avoid looking up at the stage, there would be no reason for her to even consider anything out of the ordinary. Toshimi turned her attention to unbuttoning her blazer and then re-buttoning it over and over.

"Mmm hmm. Maybe," she replied absently. The back of her mind registered that maybe she was being a little rude to Maeko, but she had more important things to concern herself with, like buttoning up her blazer...

Misaki's eyes went wide. This couldn't be...how could this have happened. He was with them at the camping. No this had to be a joke, some sort of cruel joke! She looked at the others then quickly stood up without really thinking. Her voice raised up and she quickly raised her hand waveing it at Hamasaki, "Ahhh! Sensei! When did this happen? Both Ishino-senesi and Aomori-sensei were with us on the trip...When...when could this have happened? I mean...ah..."

She glanced around looking nervous. A small iching in the back of her mind made her pause. She could remember Aomori-sensei not helping Ishino-sensei with the bags, something that he would NEVER do under normal circumstances. It...It wasn't like him...

"Sensei...who's...who's going to take over the sports teams? And where...where was he found?"

Mitsuko, for the most part, didn't seem terribly affected by this. Granted, a man had died- a teacher, no less- but she didn't know him especially well. Not really. She supposed that she understood just why some people were upset, but unfortunately her greatest concern was whether or not her classes had been rearranged because of the investigation.

Morbid, perhaps, but I can't help but be curious as to what happened to him...
