Who: Samantha and Theodore
Where: Meeting up at Sam's apartment and eventually Crescent City Steakhouse.
When: Saturday, June 5th at around 6:30.
What: Having dinner together.
The wings had grown a little. Of course they had. Sam momentarily pondered calling to cancel with Theo. If he happened to see these things coming from her shoulders? He'd think she was a freak or something. She knew that it was probably smart to cancel, but she needed the distraction. She'd just have to get creative with what she wore. Something that didn't reveal her shoulder blades and give her away. The last thing she needed was to scare him away, right? Smoothing a hand through her hair as she dug through her closet, she finally found a sweater to put over the casual dress she wore. Of course, she'd made sure it was nothing too nice, so she didn't make him think that it was a date or anything. But she didn't want to look lazy about it, either.
Finishing the ensemble with a pair of black jeans and comfortable flats, she put the sweater on to check and see if it covered the disastrous feathery bumps protruding from her shoulders. "It'll have to do," she said, sighing as she noticed that you could really only see if you looked very closely. Good.
Anyone else would have called to cancel, and she probably should have. But she hadn't and she wouldn't. She sort of hoped that it cooled off a little bit that night. Not that she couldn't deal with wearing a sweater when it was hot, but she didn't want to arise suspicion, either. She wandered over to the fridge, taking out a bottle of water and drinking some down as she waited for him. She peered out the window to note that it had started raining a little, and part of her hoped that it stayed. At least it would give her an excuse for wearing a sweater in the middle of June, right?
Over in the corner, she'd put together a couple of landscape style paintings she'd done in the past but not hung on her wall, just in case Theo hadn't been able to find something at the gallery. She hadn't done anything herself yet (and definitely not for lack of trying), but she hoped that one of these would do. She wouldn't want him to have to go home empty-handed.
Now, she just had to wait.
