Esras wasn't surprised when Ben said that he needed medical attention he was just surprised he was willing to admit it. "I'll get you taken care of as quickly as possible." He helped Ben over to one of the exam tables before letting go of him gently to grab the pain pills from the locked cupboard between their work stations.
It made him a little nervous that Ben was clarifying that he meant what he said. It wasn't a bad thing by far since the only things that Ben said were reassuring but it still just...didn't sit. When it came down to it no matter how likable he had come to find him he was still a concern, Delora was his sister. "I know." he stated, "I mean I know you meant it. I all I got from what I heard was that your very serious about my sister, and I mean. You have to be, you took a bullet for her and even that didn't change your mind." He handed Ben the painkillers and a glass of water, "These are pretty damn strong, you may be drowsy though." he warned and turned to get the bandages for Ben's ribs, if he looked him in the eye he risked asking what else Ben said.
"It sounded like he was working you over in there, I'm surprised you kept your calm." He turned back to Ben with the bandages in his hands and managed not to white knuckle them. This much stress did not sit well with him, "I know that you probably know, you know Attie very well, but what he says about her isn't true. One of the biggest problems they had was that he never really knew her. He created a version of her in his mind and ignored everything else. Don't believe a word he says. She's happier with you on the worst of days than she ever was with him on the best of them. You know I'm the last one to say something like this out loud but she loves you. Genuinely. And that's what matters."
Thinking these thoughts made him a little uncomfortable and the only thing that allowed him to actually speak those thoughts out loud was the fact that he could focus his attention on binding Ben. Despite the discomfort he felt he needed to say it, he didn't know what Zane had said in there to Ben but he certainly didn't want to see him cost Attie her happiness. Perhaps he had bound Ben's ribs a little too thoroughly but safer was better and it kept his hands feeling, "Better?"
