Zane smirked when Ben came forward, he'd learned that Ben couldn't resist a taunt and he'd proved it again. "I see your still limping." He muttered under his breath, if he hadn't killed him or Atropine the least that he could do was make their existence inconvenient and hopefully a severe hitch in their love life.
He continued to work to steady himself while he muttered under his breath about the two of them recovering but when then Ben pulled out the gun. That bit made him a little nervous, he'd already been shot twice and it was looking like there was going to be several more, it was hard enough to try to keep his composure with the pain he was already experiencing.
Ben officially had the upper hand, if it was composure Madison was worried about than he didn't need to worry anymore, it was gone. When Ben mentioned marrying her he went as white as a sheet, that was the last thing that he wanted to know before he inevitably died. He struggled to find something to say, hanging there like a limp dishrag would only give Ben satisfaction.
Before he could muster up something to say he was screaming out in pain as the bullet ripped through his hands, "For fuck's sake!" he shouted, "You are a trigger happy bunch aren't you?!" he shouted. Again his mouth only seemed to get him in more trouble but the shot in the thigh was only fair, he'd have done the same thing in Ben's situation. By the time the pain finally allowed him to speak again he had discovered something to say to Ben, "I think you ought to wait until she's finished being cross with you for lying to her. She really, really, really hates being lied to. I should know, I've already been engaged to her." It was a half truth, but a short engagement still counted. "I think you'll be lucky if she says yes."
