Action Scene: Draco goes to Spinner's End

He really needed to talk to Severus, but he wasn't quite sure of the reception he would receive. It had been almost over a week since he had walked in on Potter and Severus on his couch, and his Godfather hadn't attempted contact him since. He chewed his bottom lip in indecision. Mother was out with Andi and Potter, meaning he knew for sure that he would catch Severus alone, though maybe Severus might not want to see him. He tapped his foot in irritation. It shouldn't be this complicated. He had never thought about it whenever he went over to Severus' before, usually he wouldn't even know why he went over.

But he had to speak to Severus today before he went and bought the ring, depending of course on whether Andi went with him or not. He took a pinch of floo powder decisively. If Severus didn't want him there, he could kick him out. Spinner's End. He stepped out of the fireplace and looked around. It looked empty. "Severus?"

"At least you've thought it through," Severus said, sighing. "Pansy is loyal, and as you said, you are at least friends. And your father might back off a bit," he admitted.

He looked at Draco, frowning slightly. "It's not a matter of thinking you can do better, Draco. I just don't want you settling for something because it will please your father."

Perhaps it was time he and Lucius had another chat.

"On the contrary Severus, Father would most definitely not be pleased with my marriage to Pansy. Though he won't be able to argue since technically she is a pureblood and of an old family," he said with a smirk. "Severus at least with Pansy I know what to expect and we know exactly what we are to each other and where we stand," he said quietly, looking out the window. "This is as close to choice as I'm going to get."

"I'm sorry," Severus said, truly meaning it. He'd wanted more for Draco than this and hoped he'd meet someone that would not only please his father, but allow him to be happy.

Though in truth, he didn't give a pixie's arse about pleasing Lucius, but he knew it would make Draco's life infinitely easier if he were able to do both.

"What was that about war orphans?" he asked, the other bits of Draco's plans finally making an impact.

Draco shrugged, feeling a little morose. "It's not your fault Severus, you didn't have anything to do with this." Draco thought for a moment. "Well the Malfoy Foundation is of course Mother's idea and I am to be the face of it. I'm not really sure what we will be doing actually, I have to talk to Mother and get all the details. It is a charity of sorts if I am to guess."
