Action Scene: Sirius goes to retrieve Remus

Sirius stood on the doorstep to the house he had not been to in years. He was going to see Remus again and his heart hammered in his chest. Memories of their last night together played across his mind but he pushed them back and told himself he was here for Remus and to help him with his change only. He couldn't give away a thing about what had happened; he had to protect Remus. He eyed the place warily and took a deep breath as he lifted a hand to knock on the heavy wooden door, wondering who would answer and hoping against hope that it would be Remus.

Andromeda nodded. "Don't worry, Remus. I'll take good care of Teddy this evening." She turned to Sirius. "Nymphadora's currently asleep with a hangover. Serves her right." She was worried for her daughter. Going out at night and drinking herself into a stupor, only wandering in when she was sober enough to not splinch herself. She shook her head. It would be better to dwell on happier things.

	Sirius arched an eyebrow and looked between Remus and Andromeda. 'Well now I know why Remus looks so bad,' he thought. "Right. Well, I guess we should get to where we are going then." He turned to Remus. "I can meet Teddy next time, when you're feeling better." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"I can bring him out to meet you, it's no trouble." She walked toward the sitting room. "He's in his playpen right now." Andromeda returned with a turquoise-haired baby. "Say hullo to your Uncle Sirius, Teddy," she cooed, waving the boy's hand for him. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Sirius sucked in a breath as he looked at the child. Harry had been right the baby looked just like Remus in the face. He reached out and touched the child's little hand, smiling as the boy's fingers curled around his index finger. "Hey there, sprog. Remus felt himself smiling softly watching Sirius's exchange with Teddy. He couldn't help but think that this looked so much more right than watching his wife's overly cautious, unwilling movements around their son. He reached out to take Teddy from Andromeda carefully. Holding him, the aching spreading through his bones calmed for just a moment. "I think he likes you," he said quietly to Sirius.

	Sirius looked at Remus then down at the baby again and smiled. "Yeah? You think so?" He reached out and chucked the baby under his chin, grinning wider when the child's hair changed from the wild blue to a white blond. "Ugh, stick the to colours there, sprog. 	Sirius froze for a moment and looked at Remus. "It's been almost twenty years since I held a little one like this. Not since Harry." He swallowed hard and took Teddy from Remus, settling the baby in his arms and looking down at the boy. He smiled at the boy, holding him close to his chest then look up at Remus again. "Damn, Moony. 	Remus smiled and nodded. "I know. It's complete maddness. But damn, Sirius, I love him so much. He's the only bit of good to come out of the whole mess that happened after you--" he stopped and reddened, then realized there was no point in leaving the sentence hanging. "--after you died." 	Sirius looked over his shoulder to make certain Andromeda had gone back to the kitchen then looked back at Remus. He cradled the baby on his hip and reached out to touch Remus's face. "I'm here now and I'm not going away ever again," he said softly. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	This time, Remus let himself feel Sirius's fingers against his skin. He turned his face toward the touch and reached up his own hand to cover Sirius's, then moved it to his lips to kiss Sirius's palm gently. "I know," he said. He glanced at the clock and lowered their hands slightly. "We should get to the shack." (Reply to this) (Parent)
