Remy couldn't stand that whole decontamination thing he had been put through. It just wasn't right. Yes, he understood their reasoning for it, but did it really have to involve needles? He hated needles. It was worse then being stuck in snow. Well, maybe not worse, but pretty damn close. For all the jokes in the world, nothing seemed to appease them. They just kept wanting more and more. Clothes. Blood. You know it. And there was no way he was going to just sit there and have them watch and wait for him to exhibit some symptoms. Why wouldn't he make it this long alive? Wasn't it always the bastards that lived through these types of things? That made it alive after the world had thrown the worst it had at you? Yeah, if they were not going to give him any choice besides sit around or get stabbed, Remy quickly rethought that whole no needles thing and ended up holding out his arm for them to take all they wanted. The vampires comment apparently came off unsettling. But what was he supposed to do? There were only so many remarks about the blue man group anyone could make.

Choosing to wonder around the few places he could go, grumbling about how if he was an actual threat he would have blown up the building already, he was glad to at least have a pack of cards. Even before this whole Apocolypse, he was the type that needed to be on the move. Sure, he could sit around and appear to be laid back, but he was always itching to do something. Solitaire could only keep you going for so long. And the way people stared, he half felt like he should be wearing a pair of sunglasses. Sure, some of them were pretty obvious mutants themselves, but it made a man self conscious. As much as Remy LeBeau loved attention, some of the looks of curiosity were nice, but some of the fearful ones, that just irked him to no end. Choosing to ignore it all, he kept his poker face. How could he not? It's what he did.

Shuffling the cards in his hands, he found himself some place to sit, only to look up every now and again, trying to at least appear friendly. "Dis is gonna be a long night?"

Apparently the man's name was LeBeau, and in less than two seconds, Wisdom had managed to undo years of careful non-introductions. She gave the Brit a raised eyebrow in response to the devil comment, then smiled politely.

"They have a strong belief that sitting here quietly is the key to survival," she shrugged. "They aren't particularly fond of taking risks." LeBeau was a risk. Wisdom was a risk. They were both unknowns, and even though she herself would have had no problem just tossing them out on a run, she did understand why the X-Men were wary to do so.

"Well, LeBeau, was it? That's simple." She nodded at the cigarette in Pete's hand. "Wisdom smokes a few packs a day and I haven't aged since the late 1800s."

Since Pete had already broken the little agreement they had, Raven figured she might as well go all the way with it, and she approached LeBeau, extending a hand. "Raven Darkhölme. Unless Wisdom already gave all of that away."

"You only say that because you think it excuses you always being late to the party," he observed wryly. "You're always a step behind, Cajun."

What? It was a bloody colloquialism. And not a bit untrue. If there was a devil, he wasn't a hideous goat man with a pitchfork. Nobody'd be tempted by that. Now something like Mystique? Much more tempting.

He scoffed at the idea of sitting quietly and not taking risks. "That explains a lot," he muttered. Especially about Kit and where some of her bottle had gone. He could understand a certain amount of care, but the probation period and restrictions were ridiculous.

"I've never planned to die of old age," he reminded Remy. "I've seen it, I'll pass."

He took a drag on his cigarette as Raven introduced herself. "Not at all," he said. "As if just a name could ruin your mystique."

Watching the two comment back and forth at one another, Remy just smirked and watched the scene play out for a moment. "Risks make life worth livin'." Remy quipped.

Charging up what was left of his cigarette, and barely letting it glow, Remy flicked it into the air only to ignore the little poof that followed as it disintegrated. Standing up he easily walked right over to Raven and smirked. "Well den chère, consider us formally introduced."

The moment he was standing before her, he moved to kiss the back of her hand, only to give his own full introduction. "Remy LeBeau, at yer service." Of course, he had to add a wink. "As if you didn' know dat." What the hell was age to him at this point?

Turning back to look at Pete, he couldn't help but smirk. "Now, now Pete. Can't 'ave you go dyin' amongst the zombies. If you be tinkin' of goin' out in a blaze of glory, you let me know, an' I be happy to watch dat from a good distance." He joked before moving to lean against the wall just past Raven so he could still look at both of these characters without worry of craning his neck or worrying that someone else is going to come out from behind that doorway from his past and decide they were not quite so friendly. "What femme ever loses dat?"

Raven smirked slightly as LeBeau kissed the back of her hand. It was a nice gesture, but one that was almost completely wasted on her. Even if they were the type of thing tat she appreciated, their relationship, as it were, was well past the point of chivalrous gestures. "Fully aware, Cajun."

When LeBeau spoke of Pete dying at the hands of the undead outside the gate, Raven's face returned to its regular blank state. She didn't really care what happened to Wisdom, but the idea of it being something that would be considered going out in a blaze of glory... that, she did not agree with. Couldn't. Not after Irene.

Wisdom's very much unappreciated pun seemed to be lost on Remy, which was something for which Raven was grateful. The man really didn't need any sort of encouragement, which was why she'd chosen not to acknowledge the joke at all. She moved farther into the room, heading toward the window. Throwing a glance in LeBeau's direction, she asked, "When did you arrive?"

Pete took a long drag on his cigarette as Remy dribbled a great deal of his much lauded Creole charm all over Raven's hand. She humored him a bit, which he had to give her credit for.

As for the Cajun's comment about going out in a blaze of glory and the whole risk taking business, he decided to take a page from their charming female companion's book. "Most people die of a sort of creeping common sense," he quoted, not changing his focus even if he was playing to Raven instead of Remy. "and discover when it is too late that the only things one never regrets are one's mistakes."

There was no such thing as going out in a blaze of glory. Surviving to continue the fight was always wiser. But hiding away hoping the bogeyman will pass you by if you're quiet enough was just as bloody daft.

Of course, his pun went whistling right over LeBeau's head. Wisdom had doubted he knew much about the shapeshifter, which just made needling both of them more amusing. He didn't cut in when she asked how long the Cajun had been there, he was curious about that himself.

The charm had to be wasted somewhere, so regardless of the fact it was wasted on Mystique, or the fact that Remy kept a blind eye to that fact, really didn't matter, at least to him. Nope. Regardless of what folks around here seemed to think about life and the way things were, Remy had his own way of looking at things. Maybe these people needed a good dose of that. A good joke at the expense of how things were or a little romance here or there was not a bad thing and he was probably the only one bound and determined to point that out. Or just get funny looks for trying, but he was getting those anyway.

Shrugging, Remy just grinned. "Tres belle Pete. Brings a tear to de eye. Really." Remy lifted a hand to wipe said fake tear and sniffed a bit. "'Course, it be full of lies. But den the best lie be somethin' dat's obvious non?" He knew that regardless of whatever happened to him, he would always regret his mistakes. No doubts would be had about that one. "An' what be dis common sense dat's keepin' us alive? Is it creepin'?" But then, of course, Remy couldn't help himself. "When you start readin' 'nough Oscar Wilde to be quotin' it like dat?" That was the creepy part to him.

When did he get here? What? Was decontamination usually longer? He thought it was bad enough as it was. "Dis glorious afternoon. Blue furry fella decided to say 'allo." Or at least when he found himself nearly here anyway. Amusing little stand off that was. Two obvious mutants trying to act friendly in the snow, just waiting to see who acted first. Yeah, loads of fun.

"Quotation is a serviceable substitute for wit," Raven chimed in in response to LeBeau's question, smiling. It seemed as though Wisdom had actually picked up a Wilde book or two sometime since their months together. LeBeau seemed at least somewhat versed in Wilde as well, which also struck her as interesting. Noteworthy, at least.

She looked out the window briefly, squinting toward the gate. There was really nothing to see out there, especially from where she was standing, and she turned to ask LeBeau for more details of his arrival. When he mentioned a blue furry fellow saying hello, she raised an eyebrow.

"You'll have to be more specific. There are two here who match that description." Given the date and the fact that Hank never left the basement unless forced to, and absolutely never seemed to leave the compound, Raven was sure that it was Kurt who he'd encountered. It didn't particularly matter, though, and she leaned against the window sill. "Were his eyes yellow?"

Pete chuckled, getting exactly the reaction he'd expected from Mystique. Even after Remy tried to analyze the whole bloody quote outside the spirit of conversation. At least it showed the Cajun had some education. "Read some in school," he admitted. "And I worked with a girl years back who was rather fond of him. Got me to give him another look. I have to respect any man who refuses to apologize for his vices."

That almost made Pete glad he'd run into the Cruz children and came and knocked on the bloody door. Not to mention how badly a stand off might have gone with someone who was less forward than he'd been with how rightfully paranoid Brian had been. Only advantage would have been getting here faster, but apparently that gold kid was good enough with his powers to cure pneumonia. Pity he apparently couldn't do a thing with the zombie plague.

Giving Pete a curious look, he really didn't buy the whole reading some in school bit, but he let it slide. They all had their secrets. But who would bother keeping up with something from school? Then again, Remy's actual education was faulty to say the least. He never graduated high school, let alone moved onto anything else. There were more important things to deal with then school. At one point it had been eating and staying alive, only to move onto feuds between Guilds and staying alive. But, that didn't mean that he didn't know a few choice things Jean-Luc felt he needed to know. And in truth, Remy had a thing for becoming knowledgeable in anything he was going to steal. A few things from a few famous authors kind of went with that. He had far larger knowledge base in art work. "It be called bad manners homme." Not that Remy really cared less who refused what, as long as he got his. And that usually meant a paycheck of some sort.

All too amused by Raven's sudden interest in men of the blue sort, Remy grinned, but did nod in reply. "Absolutment. A tail too I believe. Dat mean somethin' to you, chère?" Scratching his chin a little bit, he couldn't help but wonder what it was with all the similarities. Yes, Remy didn't know Kurt was related to Raven in the slightest, but two furry blue guys and her in the same place made him wonder if there wasn't some sort of happy family going on there. For all he knew the yellow kid was part of it. "Was down dere for a while. Was startin' to believe dat I was in de minority 'ere. Not bein' bright and colorful."

Raven would have been relatively content simply continuing to respond in only quotations, but it seemed as though LeBeau wasn't nearly as appreciative of the exchange as she was. He had never been on her list of people she'd like to sit down with and have a long discussion about literature, though, so his lack of interest in the subject wasn't a huge loss. He was nice to look at and good at what he did, and that was the full extent of her expectations.

"It does," she nodded. "He's my son." Kurt wasn't the type to announce their relationship to anyone, let alone a stranger such as LeBeau. He was ashamed, to say the least, which in a small way made it much more important for her to make sure that others knew. She raised an eyebrow at Lebeau and assured him, "Don't worry, thief, you're still lucky enough to be part of the majority within the mutant minority."

"If it makes you feel more at ease, though..." Raven shifted smoothly, turning her skin back to its pale, fleshy color and hair back to the blonde of her childhood. She glanced over at Wisdom through blue eyes with regular irises and pupils and smiled. Raven's pride in what she was and how she looked wasn't enough for her to completely ignore the stigma that came with it. Tall and blonde and less exotic got her into many places with cameras that, had Black Air been really looking, they would have been able to trace. As it was, they had managed to include a few shots of her in the intel that she'd been able to get her hands on, but nobody had thought it a lead worth following. "The biggest hole in your organization's intelligence was the near complete lack of photographs of this form."

Lebeau was just spoiling all of their fun, now wasn't he? Oscar Wilde had rather a large assortment of fantastic and utterly relevant quotes that were at least amusing to toss back and forth. Especially his outlook on life, love, marriage and Americans.

Pete rather loved the ones about Americans and was even more amused that they still applied over a century later.

As to LeBeau's comment about bad manners, he just smirked and quoted. "A gentleman is one who never hurts anyone's feelings unintentionally." Couldn't let the Cajun think he'd actually made a good point, because he hadn't. Not that Wisdom could be buggered with good manners all of the time. Too much work that.

Wagner was her son, then? Well, that was new. He shouldn't have been surprised as much as he was, but he was anyway. Still, the resemblance was certainly somewhat marked. Similar shade of blue, he definitely had his mum's eyes.

Pete chuckled as Mystique shifted forms. He didn't care for this one as much as a few others he'd seen. Sari had soured him off blondes early on. "That's a lovely form indeed," he agreed. "Men actually prefer gingers though. Which of course, you likely already know."

Remy wanting to join in some sort of little quote debate? No. Definitely not him. Of course he was going to ruin a their fun, or at least choose to roll his eyes and stay out of it. Maybe even get bored from it and take off, but not before he chose to poke at Pete for even bothering. Whatever Raven's interests were hers. He really never bothered to delve into that one. There was only about two things he was interested in when he saw her and neither one included quotes.

Shaking his head, he laughed at Pete for bringing in more damn quotes. "A gentleman is simply a patient wolf." Yes, it wasn't anything Oscar Wilde, and yes it was from some old actress that his père had a crush on back in the day, but hell if he was going to believe in Pete's little quote. "An' dere be no wolf in dis world dat would be carin' 'bout someone's feelin's intentionally." They were smart enough creatures, and when they found something they were after, they could easily stick with it.

But of course, Remy also had to point out that even if they had realized where he pulled that quote out of his ass, he really wasn't into those types of conversations. "'Sides, as de lady said," he began before nodding over towards Raven, "Quotation is a serviceable substitute for wit, though dis Cajun prefers wit." Either one of them could jump on that bandwagon all they wanted and try to claim otherwise, but Remy had enough confidence to not care what either of his present company said about such. Not that he took anything Pete said to heart, ever for that matter. They had known each other long enough to poke fun at one another.

And to find Raven was a mother? After being alive as long as she had recently pointed out? Well wasn't that something. He was half afraid to ask how many other kids she had popped out over the years and if perhaps she there was something to the other blue, furry fellow, but, once again, none of his business, and it really wasn't something worth knowing. So it really didn't matter much to him.

Looking over Raven as he changed, he found himself a little too amused. Okay, so now all those little cracks Pete made earlier made a whole hell of a lot more sense now. Choosing not to comment on the blonde, which, Remy had had more then enough crazy blonde women pass through his life, he smirked. "Now you show me dis? Knowin' me all dis time too?" He shook his head and tsked her. Like he really cared though. He was just happy she didn't pull that trick during certain activities. It might have the ability to scar a man for life, depending on what she changed into.

But as she brought up the problem with a certain organization's intelligence, Remy was even more amused. "Dere be not a person alive dat would not be agreein' wit you dere. Don't know dat dey really did 'ave any real intelligence." Or at least in regards to any information Pete had during any of the times that Remy was working either with or against Pete at any given point. "Dere intelligence gatherin' probably 'ave been done better by givin' some childe some candy an' pointin' de kid in a direction to go listen in on some conversations. At least dere be a lil' imagination to it."

Raven caught the look of surprise on both LeBeau and Wisdom's faces when she announced that Kurt was her son. She'd thought that the resemblance was enough to make it somewhat less of a shock, but apparently not. Turning her attention to Wisdom, she advised, "You might want to get a pen. Update your files."

Not that she really expected him to have any of her file in his possession or available to him at that point. Even without the whole zombie apocalypse scenario, he'd thought she was dead and he'd moved on from Black Air. People didn't generally hold on to old case files.

"I had nothing to gain and potentially something to lose showing you earlier," she replied. It was as simple as that. Their whole understanding was based on knowing as little about each other as possible. Knowing what she could do would give him one more thing in his corner, and she didn't trust the man enough to let him have that.

She smiled, shifting back to her standard blue look as Wisdom pointed out that red was in. LeBeau's point about the intelligence gathering of Black Air wasn't quite true. Tilting her head, she conceded, "They did manage to get a fair amount of information. For all of the glaring mistakes and missed opportunities, they did come up with enough to make it at least a small threat."

"Never let it be said you don't have aspirations to be witty, LeBeau," Pete shot back wryly as he stubbed out his spent fag on the tabletop and dumped it in the bin nearby. "Whether you succeed is up for debate though."

The entire conversation about Black Air was something he'd rather avoid. Let the bastards stay dead and buried, as he hoped they all were. Since with all their fancy technology and eyes and ears all over the world, they didn't foresee the catastrophe in time to do anything to stop. Some fantastic defence ministry.

As for gen on Remy, Wisdom shook his head, chuckling. "Because they had bothered to keep two bit thieves on the radar," he pointed out. "The only threat you've ever been is to rich people who are well insured, Cajun. That's why they couldn't be arsed with you."

Raven, on the other hand, was one of the most dangerous terrorists in the world. Which was why he'd been sent after her. Pete was done talking about it regardless. He was possibly done with the conversation entirely if they didn't find something else to chat about.

Pulling out another cigarette, he lit it with a hot knife, then made a go at changing the subject. "So, just what are we supposed to be doing to prove how trustworthy we are if we're not allowed to be useful at all?"

Remy kept his mouth shut, for once, about what kind of information anyone would have on him. He might have been a thief, but he had enough ties to some assassins, having been married to one the moment he came of age, regardless of the fact that he was exiled and never really saw much of her after the fact. But he knew for a fact he had more then enough bounties on his head for it all. But why bring all of that up. No, Remy just did his own little shrug while he smirked, choosing not to bother to delve into that seeping pit either. "So now I be two bit?" He joked. "I'll 'ave to be remembein' dat de next time you need someone savin' your ass." Not that either of them hadn't done more then enough of that for each other in the past, let alone putting said ass into the fire.

But Remy, being more then glad for the change in subject, found himself actually intent on hearing the response to that little question. It just seemed utterly ridiculous to sit around to wait for someone to trust you when you couldn't legitimately do anything to earn it.

Raven simply smirked as the two went back and forth about why Black Air would or wouldn't have any information on LeBeau. From what she'd seen of him, Wisdom was right. Thieves for hire, regardless of their connections, weren't the kind of thing that an organization like that would waste their time or resources tracking down. Not unless he had something that they wanted, and she doubted that they were all that into paintings.

"You'll have to figure it out," she shrugged. "Make yourselves useful somehow. If you serve a purpose here, they're more reluctant to give you the boot." Raven was pretty sure that beyond their wanting to rehabilitate her and thinking that there was some sort of soft, gooey center deep within her, they were keeping her around because she was helpful. She could teach them things that they needed to know, and it was in their best interest to keep her around to teach it. "The good news is that they trust me far less than they trust either of you, and I've been here over a year. They have little reason to not trust either of you."

"All right, two bit is being a bit generous," he agreed. Really, the British Ministry of Defence hadn't given a tinker's damn what Lebeau knocked off. The only reason they had any gen on him at all was because Wisdom had encountered and used him a few times. The Cajun had returned the favour a time or two as well. "But what can I say? You've been useful from time to time."

Raven's reply wasn't much help. Considering what they were restricted from, they couldn't help with much of the grunt work even, since the fishery and the greenhouse were off limits without supervision. They weren't allowed weapons, so they could train hand to hand and with their powers only. And he imagined this lot were going to have fits when LeBeau started exploding things.

"Good to know," he told Raven, taking another drag on his cigarette. He could always track down Kit and see if she could sit with him while he did things where he was allowed to work with supervision. The paranoia was a bit surprising really, as secret motives were less of an issue these days when everybody else was just surviving.

Made Pete wonder if they'd been betrayed by someone they'd taken it. Was likely possible, although why anyone would try it was a mystery. The take home wasn't near worth the risk, considering the powers and numbers that the colony's residents possessed.

As amused as he was about everyone taking him quite so literal, all this talk did was put more thoughts in Remy's head. What the hell was he going to do? Check for gaps in their security and find a way to get caught only to raise his hands and go, look, you need to do this and this here? It's a weak spot? Yeah, that's a way to get someone to trust you. Hey! I'm a thief! Trust me! Bright red warning flag on that one there.

Well, that and what was he going to do? Blow something up? He could only imagine what whirlwind of fun that little point would make. What was that noise? Oh, Remy didn't think that rock was in the right place again. He could cook, but probably get irritated with it all. Or they might with him for the need for certain spices. And that's if they let him do that. He honestly didn't recall that part. Probably would think he was too close to knives or something. These folks were insane.

A little put off by the responses, Remy kicked himself away from the wall and headed back to the chair only to grab his cards and shuffle them again. "Merde. Won't be long before I end up givin' reasons not to be trusted den, I'm sure. What's dat sayin' 'bout idle hands Pete?" Yes, that was a crack about Mr. Living-Quote-Book over here.
