Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Paige and Pete
What: Coming up for air, and lunch! And doggy care.
Where: Pete's trailer
When: Saturday Afternoon
Warnings: Shirtless guys, lots of flirting, fluff, doggy style (kisses, that is. From the DOG, you perverts)
Status: Incomplete

The lack of common sense in wanting to let the dog outside for the first time since early, early that morning while still being damp from an hour-long shower was not completely wasted on Pete as he made his way toward the door clad only in a pair of haphazardly adorned jeans, Aloysha practically clinging to his heels. He felt a little bad for having neglected the pooch for almost half the day but Al didn't seem to mind too much. No whining, no door scratching, or at least from what Pete had noticed. Taking his early thought into consideration, he transformed just before his hand found the door handle, the blast of cold air lost on him as the dog bounded past him into the snow, more happy to flop around it in than do his business apparently. It was only after he'd shut the door again and changed back that the last draft drifted along the floor, chilling up Pete's toes, drawing a Russian mutter of displeasure from his lips as he headed into the kitchen for the bag of dog food next to the fridge.

Even from the other side of the trailer he could hear movement in his bedroom area, where Paige was finishing up in the bathroom. The warm, likely still-steamy bathroom with its warm, comforting, toe-thawing water, and likely a still-partially nude girlfriend parading around. The word was strange to him, even not saying it out loud, but hadn't it been long enough avoiding it entirely? A year and a half, he could easily decide now, was way too long to be paranoid about offending other people over something that wasn't entirely their business to begin with. Not that it still wasn't Sam's business. He decided he wasn't going to think about it anymore, as associating his best friend with Paige in a familial sense seemed a little weird when put into context with the morning's activities. He also managed to note that getting more than an hour of sleep at some point later would probably be beneficial.

His cheeks had suitably tinted again, though not quite as much as normal, distracted by filling the dog bowl with Aloysha's lunch as he contemplated turning the mp3 stereo sitting on the counter on.

"No worries." He promised with a laugh, knowing that as awkward as having an internet conversation with Sam about wanting to date his sister had been awkward enough. He also easily recalled the fact that Sam didn't want details, and imagined that questioning him in regard to something like that certainly counted. Vague was good.

"I-" His mouth opened as if he had a retort, staring back at her before his eyebrows went up as if he realized that he really had nothing to say about it, or just that she was right and he was absolutely no match, and conceded, moving the plate back within reach. "Just remember this when you're more fueled than I am later." That was enough of a threat, he thought, looking a little smug about it as he plucked a mushroom off the plate and ate it.

She didn't break eye contact when he opened his mouth to reply. Paige could do the stare-down. In fact, it was one of her skills. It came in handy so very often in life, be it during school or at home... or especially now that she had to play mommy to the littles as often as she did. Pete finally realized that the game was over before it had really even begun, and she smiled as he brought the plate back around.

"I'll keep it in mind," she laughed, reaching for more of the omelet. Even if she did end up eating most of his, hers was still sitting over on the table. It would all even out eventually. And if either of them were still hungry, he had enough food in the trailer to more than take care of the problem. It was a non-issue just then. She chewed thoughtfully, tilting her head and smiling as she asked, "What exactly are you thinking I'd need to be fueled for?"

"Shoveling the roof." Pete replied without missing a beat, though he realized that didn't make much sense after he'd said it. It was the first thing to come to mind, and hadn't Paige said she liked it when he did that. Still, he looked sheepish and shook his head. "Yeah, I have no idea what that was, but I did notice that the number of kissmarks on the left side of your neck sort of outnumbers the ones on the right, and I thought that, as a good boyfriend, I should remedy that."

He nodded for a few seconds, and watched her as if he were gauging whether or not she was buying it, but knew it didn't really matter. "You know, so it matches."

Paige laughed at his response, hand going to her face to cover the laughter. Shoveling the roof. Of course, how could she have not remembered their plans to shovel the roof later? The laughter subsided as he continued, but her smile widened when he referred to himself as a good boyfriend. Pete was her boyfriend. Maybe sometime that thought would get old, but for then it was still definitely very new and very great. She bit down lightly on her lower lip as she considered his proposition.

"Y'know..." she reached for some more of the omelet before continuing, "I do this thing where I can just get rid of it all and even it out out that way. Blank slate." She waved vaguely at her neck before smiling again. "'Course that ain't nearly as much fun..."

Pete's eyes moved to her neck and stayed there for enough time that it was obvious the gears were turning. The gradual arch of his eyebrows made it even more apparent that the ideas forming were considerably less goofy and innocent as shoveling the roof, and a few seconds later he reinforced that fact by speaking.

"Well, you know..." His free hand moved to pluck lightly at her collar, as if inspecting his own handiwork. "I wouldn't mind starting from scratch. Second time's a charm." He looked thoughtful for a second. "Wait. Doesn't the saying say third time's a charm?" He sighed lightly, shrugging. "I guess this means we need to try two more times."

She continued to smile as he looked at her neck, apparently examining it... or maybe just enjoying his handiwork. When he spoke and reached for her collar, her eyes followed his hand, then went back up to his face. Her smile spread to a grin again when he corrected himself, and she nodded. It was definitely third time.

"Guess so," she sighed, reaching to tuck her hair back behind her ear. Snagging the last piece of omelet from his plate, she popped it into her mouth, waiting until she'd chewed and swallowed before asking, "So... clean slate. then?"
