Who: Lorna and Remy
What: Checking out security systems
Where: Sub-basement
When: Tuesday Evening
Rating: Timid
Status: Complete

Remy had been bored out of his mind. It really was a losing battle here and even he saw it. Two weeks without pulling something? Yeah, not going to happen. So what was the most obvious thing he was going to go for? Security. Always security. He needed a good challenge, and since the moment he had been here he had literally been scoping it out. Well, he had been trying anyway. It was hard when people seemed to like to watch your movements, regardless of what they were. That also didn't mean that he hadn't made a few lewd comments regarding being watched so closely either. But that wasn't the issue right now.

Right now he was going to see just how far he could get with what information he had. It was perfect timing, regardless of what he currently knew about the system. There seemed to be some new folks that arrived and all the chatter seemed to be on that. Most eyes being off him, how could he say no to temptation? It wasn't like he was really up to no good. He wasn't looking to hurt anyone or do anything to the place. It was just something that was becoming of him, to say the least.

And it wasn't that he wasn't thankful for actually being able to actually commit to doing a few things as it was. 'Training' with Raven and fixing that car with Lorna, only to go blow up a few things. Yeah, he had been having a little fun, besides flirting with women. Mostly. Okay so he did a little more then that too, but that was pretty much expected by anyone that knew him. So, figuring he would try out the weight room and the pool in the basement level, he went looking for a possible point of entry. More gossip and curiosity over whoever showed up here meant less use right? Or that was what he was going off of. And any snooping he did, he did his best to cover up just what he was up to.

Finally finding himself alone, Remy was excited to have found his entry, as he unscrewed the small cover and hopped up and into the small hole that was barely large enough to hold his frame, quickly replacing the cover, he had only wished he hadn't been a little wet from having used the pool and really wished he had his shirt on, but there wasn't time for all of that. Who knew what kind of slim window he had? Finding that his little hole only seemed to go in one direction, he found himself a bit curious when he found the only exit had a few wires attached to it. Well that was interesting. It didn't help that as he was looking at the wires and trying to find himself a way out of this without getting caught, only to find something very wrong. His little porthole suddenly vibrating, as if unable to hold his weight, sent him straight through. He was barely able to catch himself with his foot, or at least that is what he would claim. Truth be told, some of those wires had found themselves caught around his ankle.

Hanging upside down, he groaned only to wonder if he had tripped the alarm. Reaching for his foot while hanging upside down, he tried to loosen the hold on his foot as to attempt to get down before someone found him.

"Sure," Lorna said wryly, ready to grab him with her powers if he looked like he was going to land on his already clearly addled head, or try anything cute. Or cuter than trying to break into the restricted areas through an air vent.

"You're not allowed near my room yet either," she told him pointedly. "Now, do I want to know what you're doing? Because I should be dragging you up to Ororo by the iron in your red blood cells. But since they apparently haven't found anything constructive for you to do yet, I'm giving you a pass so long as you weren't up to anything shady." She folded her arms over her chest. "So, convince me."

Furrowing his brow, he actually thought about what she just said, only to lift his hands up in surrender as he stepped towards her. "Now dat sounds painful. Mais, do I really look like de dangerous type." Okay, wrong way to go about that one completely. "Don't answer dat. More like do I seem all dat dangerous to you cher?" Okay, maybe that was a better approach, but obviously not the right one.

Smirking, he stood in front of her. "Is it really so bad to think I be lookin' 'round for you? Boredom is not one to suit me. Nothin' more den morbid curiosity really. I got no actual reason to do anythin' deemed shady 'cept maybe what you just saw. Just tryin' to keep busy. Tight spaces tend to do dat." Holding his hands out, he motioned to the room they were in. "Does it look like I was after somethin' shady? Look where we be."

"Like a bitch, and makes guys scream like one." Which he'd apparently guessed.

Lorna couldn't help but let out a laugh and shake her head as he corrected himself. "Depends on your definition of dangerous, Cajun," she pointed out wryly. "Do I think you're a threat to my or anybody else here's safety? No. Or I would have immobilized you and thrown you into a power inhibiting cell until 'Ro, Hank and Tony decided what to do with you. I'm not doing that, so that answers that question, don't you think?"

As for his explanation, Lorna rolled her eyes. "You got bored, so you decided to break into the highest security area of the place while still on probation to prove that we can trust you? Please tell me you're not that stupid. You can't be, not surviving out there for as long as you have. Also, I am not that stupid, so do not attempt to treat me like I am by trying to brush me off with a smile and a cute card trick. Security is my job around here and I take that very seriously even if can't seem to take anything seriously."

Lorna's eyes narrowed. "Tell me the truth, or get the hell back where you belong," she demanded.

Remy actually had at least decided to wince at her statement. "Den maybe we skip dat session?" He asked curiously.

"Dangerous as in life threatenin'? If dat were somethin' I be into, wouldn't I went an' just tried to blow up de buildin' or somethin'? 'Cause I could. Just takes longer." He quickly pointed out. "An' you asked. Not my question." Remy teased even though he knew that was more so rhetorical on his end.

Shrugging, he just kept grinning. "Figured I see just w'at you got for security." Trying to give her a serious look, he held up his hands again. "Honest. If anythin' I personally don't believe I should'a made it dis far, mais, just sayin'." He went onto shrug. "You be an added bonus." That was as close to the truth as he was probably willing to get. But how can you go lying to a woman that can literally see your every damn move and just threatened his blood cells?

"Yeah, it's not any fun for me either," Lorna admitted wryly. She didn't like to use her powers to hurt, maim and kill people. Part of the reason she had no interest in being a runner or a scout.

It was good that he clarified that. Because if not he would have found out how fast she could knock a person out. Lorna was quickly running out of patience here.

The truth made her roll her eyes again. "Lot you know," she told him. "We knew you were in the vent the second you got the cover off. I could have let Jarvis seal you in there and gas you. I could have locked you down in this room and I could have killed you about eight times over before you got loose from the wires. I didn't, because I have no reason to think you're doing anything besides looking around. Would you preferred I'd have deemed you a threat and let you died one of the ways I just described to make you feel better about our security?"

"Really?" Well now that got his attention. If anything that just made security that much more interesting. "You be serious." Oh how his eyes lite up at the thought. Not of actually dying, but how interesting that really was.

That and it certainly didn't mean that he wasn't about to go and not use this opportunity too step even closer to Lorna and smirk as he asked, "An' why didn't you?"

"No, I enjoy threatening cocky bastards with death," Lorna snarked back. "It gets me off." God, was this guy for real? "Yes, it's true. That's only part of it. Because I am also not stupid enough to give away our entire defense system or my own personal abilities to some guy I barely know. Give me some credit here, Remy."

And now he was invading her personal space. "Because you have given no indication you intend to cause any harm here," she told him. "And I feel bad because they haven't given you anything to do and expect you to make yourself useful when you have no idea what needs to be done or who to even go to to find this information out."

Lorna gave him a sharp look and took a step back. "Why did you think I did it?"

Raising a brow at her, he shrugged. "Never said I wasn't." There were a lot of people he knew back in the day that would have loved to have any of the above happen to him. He was just pleasantly surprised to hear otherwise.

He loved that she did take a step back and took a step towards her again. "'Cause you like your new toy." He grinned. "You be warm 'nough at night. Could always charge de room for you." He half teased and half flirted. Well, she was being nice to him and all this sarcastic talk about getting off. It was no real shock there.

She has no reason to want him dead. Or maimed even. He was just another hotshot who thought he was better than he actually was. That wasn't exactly a crime.

Okay, this conversation was over. Lorna held up a hand. "Okay, first of all, knock it off," she told him. "You're cute, you're charming and you're definitely smarter than you let on. But, for some reason I cannot fathom, even after the fucking zombie apocalypse nearly destroyed the majority of the Earth's human population, I still have no desire to be a notch in anybody's bedpost. And I imagine yours can't take too many more anyway. So, I pass."

She had never done casual sex. Hell, Lorna had never had a relationship or every that many one night stands. She had hidden behind her good girl armor to keep people from finding out she was a mutant. The one place she didn't have to hide it was here, and she'd spent the entire time at Xavier's in high school learning to control her powers.

That didn't mean she was desperate or naive enough to believe he was looking for more.

"Come on," she said as she started for the door. "Let's get you out of here before Jarvis overrides my order and defaults to protocol and tattles on you."

"Am I?" He asked her seriously. Of course, he wasn't one to disbelieve this theory of hers, especially since he knew just how right she was. He was a cocky bastard after all. Though that didn't stop him from asking, "Who said anythin' 'bout bed's or bedposts? You got a dirty mind dere." After a moment, he just grinned again. "I like it."

Following her out, he just shrugged. "Never did like tattle tales."

God, did he ever stop. Lorna just shook her head. She didn't want to encourage him at all. Not that he needed any encouragement really. Remy was a skirt chaser. It didn't make him a bad guy. And besides, the was the most attention any straight guy had paid to her in years, as pathetic as that was.

If she gave in, he'd lose interest and give up. So, it was something to pass the time while Hank found the cure or the zombies ran out of people to infect and rotted away. As pitiful as that was.

"Me neither," she admitted as she led him back towards the stairs. The door opened for her. Lorna could see and feel the scanner as it recognized and admitted her, but she doubted Remy could. She wasn't saying anything.

Unfortunately, there was no hiding the sliding moving wall panel that moved to admit them from the sub basement. He'd probably already figured it out anyway.

"There, back where you belong," she said. "Now, stay out of trouble. If you really need something to do, talk to Sam Guthrie. He's the only real mechanic we have around here. You know cars almost as well he does. He could use the help. Okay?"

Remy was never one to enjoy being scanned, but he also tended to love pushing his luck. Looking back at her, he shook his head only to give her a sad look. "So you don't want me 'round anymore?" He sighed and scratched the back of his head.

"Don't know Sam. Can't 'xpect to see why he'd be willin' to want to keep me 'round either." Even if it meant he gained help, it's not like anyone really trusted him to have around. Not that he could blame them. Remy would just once again be lost to his own devices again, or so he figured, only to take those steps that were needed towards that door.

What was his problem? "I'm sure you can find some other girl who're be more receptive to your advances," Lorna said, not fooled for a second by the puppy dog look. No matter how effective it really was.

Bastard.

"Oh you are not fucking guilt tripping me," she snapped. "Sam Guthrie is the most approachable guy in the world. Go post him a note on the intranet. Hell, I'll do it for you, just so all the bases are covered. But I don't know what else you think I can do for you. I work in security and stores, neither of which you are allowed near until Ororo gives us the okay. What do you want from me?"

Yes, he gave her the puppy dog look for all that it was worth. Obviously she had a soft spot. It was hard not to poke at and try to use to an advantage. But still staying serious, he looked away from her and then down at his feet for a moment before shrugging. "Who said anythin' 'bout wantin' all dat? I just like to flirt. It be like a dance." One that he liked to play well. "You be entertainin'. Not everyt'ing' be 'bout sex chère."

Too bad he couldn't create a store that was called Guilt Trips R' Us. He would so own it. Shaking his head, he just waved her off. "Don't worry 'bout it. I'm sure I figure out somethin'." Yes, there was more puppy dog looks there. "Mais," of course he was going to make a comment about what he wanted from her. So, trying for something a bit more hopeful, he asked, "Maybe a promise to play?" Before she caught onto how lewd that sounded, he held up his hands. "Like before. Not w'at you got in your head right now. Just go toy wit some energy." Yeah that didn't help either so he figured he would just shut up now.
