Who: Kitty and Remy
What: Defending the front gate
Where: Human Colony
When: Friday Afternoon [forward dated?]
Rating: PG? For killing?
Status: Complete

After having a nice little chat with Kitty, along the way towards the gate, the two figured it was best if he served as a nice little distraction while Kitty went about disabling their vehicles. Glad that he was able to find a suitable trench coat, that yes, it was not exactly like his last one, but worked well enough just the same, he had grabbed a handful of rocks that he had made sure to pick up along the way, and toyed with them in his hand. As much as he preferred the cards, he was going to need more then to have only 52 little explosions, and what was he going to play with later once those were gone? Really?

Charging the rocks, he smirked as he noticed her position. Sneaking up as quietly as he knew he could be, Remy counted five of the men currently working at the gate, but knew that there was more in the vehicles around him. Well, other then the empty one he had found himself lowered and leaning against. Pulling out a joker from his pocket with his free hand, he charged that only to leave it underneath that specific vehicle, only to toss the charged rocks towards the armed men at the gate, making sure not to actually hit the gate itself only to take off running back towards Kitty, not willing to leave her alone for too long.

Oh how he wished that they were pulling this stuff at night because they would clearly have a far better advantage. But pulling out his missed bo, he quickly extended it, twirling it around in his hand easily, not even bothering to look back at the explosion that he had just created that probably knocked more then a few of them on their asses as he met up with Kitty.

Charging his staff, his other hand in his pocket, charging a few cards he quickly hid in the palm of his hand, he just grinned a shit eating grin at Kitty as he heard quite a few guns and rifles suddenly cocked back. "Guess dat got dere attention, non?" Remy whispered winking at her, he slowly lifted raised his hands, acting as if they caught him, making sure they couldn't see the cards glowing, figuring that they hadn't shot for one reason alone and that happened to be a very normal looking woman standing near him. "Just don't hurt de girl," he called out, only to slowly start to turn around and suddenly shoot three cards in the direction of the men that were behind him.

"Can't stop me," She quipped, but she followed along willingly enough. As if she was going to take out JUST TWO of the armed guards. Still, she did as she was told and performed a neat krav maga move that landed her--for a split second--on the shoulders of one of the men. She snatched his gun and smacked the other guy over the top of the head with it, phasing at that moment so that all three of them sunk quickly into the ground. She stayed phased underground for as long as she could, long enough that she felt rather than heard Remy's explosion, before she popped back up. In the split second she reincorporated to take a breath,a bullet whizzed past her, drawing blood on her arm. She dropped into a roll that ended in her on her feet, running phased up into the bus.

Gunfire exploded around and through her intangible body as she grabbed two of the three men remaining in the vehicle from their perches manning the mounted guns and phased them all down into the ground once again.

When she came back up again, she ended up behind the bus, barely out of breath and glancing around for Remy.

Remy was literally tossed on his ass for that explosion, but quickly tucked and rolled onto his feet. Problem is, his coat was on fire. Sure, he didn't have to worry about being fired at, for the moment, but damn if he wasn't upset that he had to pull the coat off himself quickly. Hiding out behind a flipped over car, he coughed as he stepped on the coat, effectively putting the small fire out, and most of the smoke. "Baise-moi." He growled out before shaking out the coat, only to pause when he heard some heavy footsteps making their way to him.

Quickly tossing the coat on, he grabbed his bo and tripped the man that was about to run past him. Moving to take the man's gun as he tried to turn it on him, Remy struggled with him for a moment before finally punching him in the face, doing it once more for good measure, and taking the gun from him. Charging the gun, he tossed it in the direction the man had come from, only to quickly charge the man's clothes as well, only to use his bo to help him stand up and take off running again, collapsing and pocketing the bo, he passed the half phased man as he slid under the bus and ended up near Kitty only to quickly roll to his feet as two very large boom's resounded. Wiping his hands together, he smirked until he noticed the little bit of blood on her arm. "Do I really need to watch you de whole time?" He asked nodding towards her arm. "'Cause I will." He warned her teasingly.

"Oh yeah?" Kitty returned, raising her eyebrows at him, "Where's your coat?"

Remy's whole cavalier-and-good-looking thing was kind of working for her, but the second that occurred to her she thought immediately of Kurt and Pete, wherever they were, and hoped they were alright. Josh and Raven, too, although there was no doubt in her mind that Raven had them totally covered. Strange how she didn't have that same unending confidence in Kurt and Pete, but she attributed it to her feelings for them and awareness of their comparative mortality. After all, Raven wasn't just a badass, 100+ year old badass.

"Ready to go again?" Kitty asked, jerking her head back towards the action. "How many more are left?"

Shrugging, he just smirked. "'Round." Remy's thoughts, however, were not on the others. If anything he knew Pete and Raven were easily able to fend for themselves. And they were put in their positions for a reason.

Raising a brow at her question, he just smirked. "Always. Never need be askin' dis Cajun twice." He told her with a wink before walking towards the edge of the bus and taking a peek only to smile at his handy work. "Didn't get a good look, wit all dat dust, mais wit your two an' my lil' explosions, I'd say six active." But looking around, he quickly removed himself from that corner and moved back towards her. "Only see four. Could be wounded, but never know." Remy told her serious enough.

"Any ideas you wann play out?" Yes that sounded like a lewd comment. It was Remy after all. Nodding at the bus, he smirked. "Noticed dat you be likin' to leave men in need."

Kitty flashed him a grin, "I can get him quick and then take out the guys on the other mounted guns to take out their cover fire."

She wondered whether the shared sense of inappropriateness was what bonded Remy and Pete. Probably. Kitty figured the two of them could keep each other going forever...And that thought took a weird turn, she realized, and pushed the rapid fire musing aside.

Without waiting for him to agree, she launched herself into the bus and sunk the third guy into the ground before anyone could react. Fire from the other two mounted guns greeted her when she phased out again, into the bus so she could use the brief moment of cover to take a deep breath.

Now launching herself out of the bus, her phased momentum carried her directly into the first gunman who fell with her straight into the ground.

Underground, all the noises of the attack--screaming, shouting, gunfire, explosions, fire--dimmed to almost mute. It was then that Kitty realized that she'd barely heard any of it. Remy's voice had been turned up to eleven against a dimmer background. Now that she noticed it, of course, it disappeared. When she came up again, dodging swiftly behind a car for the cover she needed to take a breath, she heard it all at full blast. It was horrible.

She jack-knifed up to grab the final man on the mounted guns, this time attached to the top of a hummer. Kitty pulled him deep into the ground before she came up again, wondering if he would be the last person she killed today.

That was a trip, she'd gone from a body count of zero to five in less than ten minutes. As she took a breath, an injured man came around the corner of the hummer she crouched behind and as he pointed his weapon at her, she deftly kicked him, trapping his legs and slamming him through the ground. Okay, six.

Taking another deep breath and slipping into phase, she peeked up over the car to see how Remy was doing.

Looking up into the sky and groaning as she took off through the bus, he ended up shaking his head and walking towards the opposite end of the bus again. If she ended up getting even a little hurt again, he might actually lecture her. Sure, it would probably sound dirty, but it would be a lecture damn it.

Peeking around the bus again, he didn't see her running in that direction just yet, and so he figured he should more or less give her some cover fire. Grabbing some rocks off the ground, he grinned and pulled out his bo again. Twirling it around in his hands, he charged the rocks and sent them flying only to run out towards a nearby man who looked to see the explosions, extended his bo, only to quickly hit it against the ground and use it to practically catapult himself towards the man, feet first. Since the man dropped his gun, Remy kicked it out of his reach, while charging the staff he stabbed it through the man's chest, going straight into his heart, "Sorry homme."

Looking up and around, he caught sight of Kitty again and headed in her direction. Running behind a few of the disabled vehicles, Remy tossed some more charged rocks as he went, making sure to stay away from Kitty's actual direction. He really couldn't care less about the sounds and smells that were around him, easily tuning it all out. All of that was something he could think about later. Right now he was doing what he needed to do and that was all that mattered.

At least until he heard that familiar sound of a gun cocking behind him again. Damn it if he didn't hate that. But what put a smile on his face was that the clip was empty. How hilarious was that? Turning around, he noticed that the guy was stuck on the ground with a piece of shrapnel in his leg, so Remy just tossed a charged rock at the guy and just walked away.

"You be part of de livin' over dere ma chérie? Or does Humpty Dumpty need to be put together 'gain?" He called out not finding anymore crazed armed men around. Well, none other then him, but he's not crazy, right? Sure, he'd go with that.

"Just fine, sweetheart, thanks for asking," Kitty replied with a trace of false cheerfulness, using the endearment a little sarcastically. She looked around again, phased, and couldn't spot any other combatants.

"We knock 'em all down? I got six, did you get seven?" Kitty wanted to be sure the headcount was right before she let her guard down. For all she knew, there could be one grenade-armed asshole hiding somewhere among the now-dented vehicles.

Remy loved grenade-armed assholes. They made life worth living. Well that and all he had to do was throw one right back. But he enjoyed the false cheerfulness that she supplied him. "So we be exchangin' numbers now?" He asked teasingly.

Charging the bo again, he twirled it, hoping to actually get rid of the human heart bits off the damn thing while he used his other hand to shake the dirt out of his hair. "Oui. I got de seven of dem." Collapsing the bo, he pocketed it again as he stood in front of her. "Love de smell of charred flesh in de afternoon." He told her sarcastically. "You t'ink dey be fairin' out any better?" Hell if he didn't expect someone to ask him what took them so long once they did head inside.

As Kitty raised her eyebrows, "You beat me by yards, I'm sure." The racket around their immediate area had ended. She could see people in the gatehouse and wondered if it was just her imagination or the gunfire had died down significantly. Her earlier estimate of less than ten minutes seemed generous, but maybe that was the adrenaline. It died down now, leaving her mind racing with thoughts of Pete, Kurt, and Josh while a slight heaviness manifested in her limbs. Phasing through a lot of metal tended to be more tiring, but she still had fight in her.

Or maybe not as much as she thought. As she stood up fully, Remy's remark forced her to note the scent and she wobbled on her feet slightly. Charred flesh. Charred human bodies. Dead bodies. But she regained her composure quickly and ran her hand over her forehead, inadvertently smearing it with engine grease. "Let's get to the others."

Watching her general movements, he raised a brow at her. Maybe she did need a moment. Sure, it wasn't something that was always good to have, and who was he to try to be someone's conscience...ever, but he did have one. It's just in times like these it was better to toss a blanket over it and pretend it wasn't there. "You sure you don't need a minute. You be lookin' a lil' green 'round dem gills dere."

Taking another step towards her, he didn't like that she had wobbled even if it was slightly and only for a moment, so if she did it again, he was right there if something did happen. "You want un minut for a breath? Nobody gonna judge you for dat." Least of all him.

Kitty shook her head briskly, "I'm fine. It's just the smell."

And she was, in fact, totally fine. The color was returning to her face and she moved steadily towards the gates. She had blood on her face from the last person she'd dropped and now the smudge of engine grease, making her kind of a grim picture even when she smiled at him. Her high ponytail had half loosened, giving her an emphatically rumpled appearance despite the sleekness of her training uniform.

"I'm okay, Remy," Her voice was almost gentle for a second and then she was all business again, "Let's go."

Ignoring his own previous comment about charred flesh, he grinned at her, only to pull at his shirt and sniff. "It not be me, right?" Lifting an arm, he sniffed again, and then put a hand over his mouth as if to sniff his breath. "I did shower dis mornin', you know." He had to at least try and bring some amusement to this conversation. Remy hated being a downer. It wasn't in him.

But shrugging, he followed her towards the gate, not really caring what it was that he was going to find inside. Well, other then the fact that these folks obviously needed better security measures. Why did no one ever fully understand this? It was a damn apocalypse you know? Even if not everyone could be a master professional thief. And of course that was just something else he was cocky over.
