Background: Horan was born in a hospital in the rough side of New York to a single mother. One girl in a pair of premature twins, Horan was as a baby able to save herself from certain death with the ability she received as a result of her mutation - however, to this day she doesn't know she actually did it. Her twin died, and so Horan was left to grow up with her mother and older brother, Bi.
As a girl, Horan was quiet and a loner, mostly afraid of the other students of her school, and even more terrified of those who bullied her for lunch money whenever her brother wasn't around or looking. When he moved on to high school, it gradually got worse, and there were days she came home with bruises she desperately hid for fear her protective brother would go down to the school and hurt someone.
When she was ten, an older boy came into the school and singled her out, attempting to assault her, while the other students stayed back and just watched, some of them even laughing. Horan, at some horrible point during it all, wished desperately that her attacker would just die - and then, he did. Horrified, and with students screaming and running around her, she started wishing desperately for him to come back to life - she didn't want to go to jail - and he did, casting an horrified look in her direction before fleeing himself.
From that day onward, the bullies left her alone and Horan, realising she had something powerful in her, became more confident, and by the time she moved into high school, she was moving in the popular circles, and no one dared bully her. No one had ever asked her about that day, but it suited Horan fine - she didn't want to talk about it for fear it would make her an outcast again. However, she spent the nights learning more about it - the plant she had sitting in her bedroom would wither with one thought, and bloom with another. When she spied a few unsavoury types picking on a girl in a park, a quick glance had them on the ground with broken legs. And when her brother came home one night scratched and bruised up, she crept into his room while he slept and wished the bruises away, left the scratches nought by scars come morning.
Over time, she came to realise that she worked better with things she understood the biology of, and so she picked up biology at school and studied it almost obsessively. After all, her brother had been saving hard for her to get into college, and so she wanted to get good grades in order to get in, for his sake at the very least.
Now 20, and not sure what she wants to do with her future, she's studying Arts at college and majoring in Korean, because, having been born in the US, it's a second language to her, and she doesn't speak it anywhere near as well as her mother or brother. As an elective, she's also continuing her studies in Biology.
Horan, after her turn in high school of being one of the snobby, popular girls, has now reached a certain type of normality and is neither a loner, nor popular. She enjoys singing, swimming, dancing, and yoga, and has a definite love of animals, owning an Abyssinian (girl) kitten named Benny. She can also be quite frequently found curled up on her bed with Benny, reading a good book.
