Parents moving to America before there was even the thought of a child in the picture. Both interested in the arts, they opened the 212 Gallery in the Upper East side in New York to continue in their pursuit of happiness. SuDae and YoungSam were surprised, if not excited by the entrance of the bun in the oven. Though quarrels of where to raise their child rose often towards the latter parts of SuDae's pregnancy. YoungSam won the fight when he gave SuDae an early Christmas gift in the form of a key to a new home overlooking 94th Street, and there they remained in the Upper East side when little Choi SooYoung was born.
SooYoung having spent most her pre-teen days and nights juggling between school and private tutors after her studies, was given the gift of her parents shifting things to make it easier on her. They thought it was best to just enroll her in a school that handled it all.
She was enrolled in the Manhattan School of Music since she was the ripe age of 10. There wasn't much time to really go out and socialize with other people from school since she had other obligations in her day. Learning what it was like to be grown up from that time on. She began substituting dates and dances with juries and recitals. Stressing over being unable to finish her ear training school work instead of how badly she possibly looked that day.
SooYoung was bound to the affections of her cello, it being the one thing she spent the most time with. She also had learned to vy for the attentions it could bring to her when she played her pieces well. Taking steps in working on her craft till she was the best in her age range.
All this shattering with a single accident that left SuDae comatose when SooYoung was 16. Having met face to face with a semi-truck at the bend of a curve, they had been driving the foreign highways to a recital up in Maine. SooYoung was ejected from the front window with her mother, in her case though she came from the accident unscathed after ejecting from the front seat. This entire experience leaving SooYoung worse off than usual since she threw herself into her music completely while cutting her father out of her life for the time being by locking the door whenever home. Trying to understand what could have been the reasoning behind having nothing to show for the accident aside from a broken mother and lies given to people who asked about the accident.
Grieving the loss of SuDae but not letting that keep them down, YoungSam and SooYoung helped one another though that time.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
She graduated from Manhattan School of Music with top marks and slightly happier when she was 18. Easily found roaming among the people of New York with the newly acquired freedom and free time since her father wanted her to take a break and just be a teenager.
Finding herself with this free time as well after many experiments to try and test the limits in which she is still learning about. Her secret is her own, and she has kept it that way since then. Trusting no one enough to let them in her little realm, SooYoung stays to herself often with the exception of when she is at work. Now tutoring beginner cello students in spare moments to keep up with her one love, she also has a couple shifts at the store near her father's art gallery on the weekends while she takes a year off before college.
