Background:
Jessica was born and for a short time raised in Korea, the first child for her rather well off parents. She very rarely lacked anything growing up, and it was probably down to this that she usually came across as somewhat arrogant to the other children around her. Whilst her parents were never cruel, they simply weren't around a lot, and it was often left to a nanny to take care of Jessica. Not that she ever felt the need to be taken care of, even from a young age she had an independant streak through her.
The often absence of her parents, and the eventual birth of her younger sister, were the most eventful things in her otherwise normal enough childhood, that was until her parents decided to immigrate, and move them all to America. Jessica was young enough at the time to see this more as an adventure, the next stop in something possibly exciting, to mind too much. It wasn't as exciting as she had hoped, and besides the language and the obvious culteral differences, and the differences between her home in Korea and New York, everything else was still the same. Someone else looking after her and her sister instead of their parents, the all girl school she was sent to, the other girls who tended to find her cold and elusive, even to the point where she earned herself the nickname of 'ice princess'.
It was all of these things, the stifling home life and the dullness of most of the girls at school, that spurred Jessica into a creative direction. She discovered she liked being creative, using her imagination, and painting and writing became the activities she turned to, when everything else felt boring and sour. She found she wasn't half-bad at it all, either. She was an intelligent girl too, and did well in school, always getting good grades, and had no problem graduating high school and getting herself into a good college. It was during her first year of college where everything really started to change for her, though.
Perhaps it was an act of rebellion against her careless parents, or maybe she just didn't care, Jessica didn't know at the time or care to either, but she fell in with a bad crowd, wild, experimental, exciting, at least compared to the girls she had known all throughout school. She started to try things, go to parties, things a good, obediant daughter wasn't supposed to do. It was at one of these parties where she met a man who changed her forever. She started seeing him, he seemed fun, a little crazy, but different, excitingly so. She'd never heard of vampires being real, and wouldn't have believed so even if she had, but one night all that changed, and he 'turned' her. Making her into what he had been born as.
It was as if she'd fallen into a nightmare, nothing was the same. Everything became more, she could hear things she'd never wanted to hear, she was even somewhat faster, stronger, than she had been, but worst of all was the thirst, this new, almost consuming thirst that she just could not turn off. She started to spiral down, further and further out of control, all in order to escape this nightmare of new, impossible, sensations. She started to spend time with even worse crowds, and eventually got herself involved in drugs. She was quickly pulled in deeper and deeper, and it was through all of this that she met Heechul. There was something there that brought them together, the drugs and the addiction to, wanting to escape from things beyond their control, even the artistic streak both had running through them. They were bad for each other though, more often than not high on something when together, feeding each other's habit. Of course, all of this had Jessica's grades slipping, she rarely showed up for class anymore anyway, and never did the work she was supposed to. She was one step ahead of them though, and dropped out before she could be kicked out.
The same never-ending spiral continued, with Heechul right beside her, and it would have continued on for longer, if it wasn't for the wake-up call she received. Her sister, who she'd always loved best of all her family, was in an accident; it wasn't fatal, but it did serve to wake Jessica up from what she was doing to herself. She decided to go into rehab, and because she knew Heechul, who had no such feelings to dig himself out of the hole they had themselves in, wasn't going to be any good to her, she went out of state to try and get herself cleaned up, and back to the person she'd been before, or as close to as she could get.
It's been a few years since then, and whilst it was one of the hardest things she'd ever had to do, Jessica finally got herself clean and out of the habit, and only very recently has she moved back to New York, where her family still live, though her parents don't talk to her anymore, her younger sister is still a great source of comfort. Whilst it's not ideal, and certainly not what she wants to spend her life doing, for the time being Jessica has a job in Hooters. She hasn't given up on her creativity though, and still paints and writes. She's even currently working on a novel, partly based on her life experiences so far, a 'fictional' novel, of course.
Jessica has always been, and still is, an independant woman; she comes across as strong, self-assured and self confident, which tends to be interpreted as arrogant and cold, though deep inside she too has insecurities of her own. She's blunt and to the point, and can come across as quite a bitch sometimes too, especially to those who don't know her. But she isn't always the 'ice princess' she comes across as, loyal to those she deems as friends; difficult to get close to, but underneath all that she does have a heart.
Preferred RP Style: paragraph, I don't mind IJ or IM though~
