[mod] about pics [
]
[ mood | tired ]

I just thought I'd let everyone know that I added a new rule to the comm last night. It isn't a big one, it's just concerning pictures of your character that you might post on your character's journal. Most of us are already aware of this, but since we've got a few newer members, I thought I should just go over it for everyone's benefit.

Basically, try to be clever with the pictures you post. Don't post things that are obviously scans of professional, magazine type shoots. Try to post pictures that are more candid, more natural, or ones that could believably be by the character, or by a friend/family member/other nonprofessional onlooker.

If your character is/was a professional model (like Tila), then posting professional things is quite fine, because that's believable. But if your character has no experience in such a thing, then the only other times it could be believable is if it was "I have a friend studying photography, and I modelled for them" or "I went to get a professional photograph done for my parents back home", etc.

Or for example, performance pics. Characters such as TOP can post performance pictures as they are a performer within the game. Everyone else should try to keep it to a minimum, with believable reasonings when they do use it (like, at a karaoke bar, that's fine) ^_^

Besides, it's just way more fun to post more natural looking pics!

If anyone wants actual examples, or wants to check if a pic is okay, then just ask ^_^ And most people have been doing this quite fine anyway, I just wanted to clarify it for the benefit of everyone, and so that no-one can say I didn't mention it XD;

Claim: Toda Erika [
]
Player's Name: Mashka
Character's Name: Toda Erika (yes, another Erika 8DDb)
Character's IJ: [info]todalie
Nationality: Japanese
What are they from? Actress
Human/Mutant/Vampire: Mutant
Ability: negating other mutants’ powers
Background: Born in Japan, Erika was raised by her grandparents, after her parents moved to the States because of her dad’s job when she was only four. Visiting them for summer and winter breaks, when she turned 18 she finally moved to New York where they lived, determined to live on her own. She still had to rely on their money for the first couple of months but after finding a job and finally settling, she doesn’t meet them more often than before, preferring to make a phone call weekly instead of driving across the city.

She is now 21 years old, sharing a small apartment in Brooklyn with a couple of girls she met through an advertisement. They are not really close but they get along. She’s also taking classes in psychology, and working as a freelance Japanese-English translator and interpreter for a small company downtown, occasionally doing modeling for travel or fashion catalogs, when they need something exotic, as they call it.

Her grandfather was the Sensei of a little aikido school so she has a white belt in it, enough just to protect herself if it's really necessary. Erika is a quiet girl, often appearing mature and cold, sometimes silly and nice, maybe a little weird and absent-minded, too, but never rude. You never know what happens in her little head while she looks at you with a faint smile.

She is not aware of her ability, yet. Her natural state is negating the powers of other mutants and she hasn’t made direct contact with mutants who would reveal her power to her. Erika’s had this strange feeling of a presence, an aura a couple of times back home and also in New York like that time at a pizza restaurant she visited once. It didn’t feel unpleasant to her at all, just different and it intrigued her but as she couldn’t explain it, she assigned it to her wild imagination. If she reveals her power, she could learn to control it and selectively negate mutant powers but for a limited amount of time since it’d require effort and concentration on her side.

Preferred RP Style: both is fine. Over IJ. I don’t have AIM..I have MSN but I don’t really use it. So yes, IJ. ^^
Anything Else: I tried to keep it short this time heh ^^;; And I’m taking the last mutant spot :O

CLAIM: Sawajiri Erika [
]
[ mood | awake ]

Player's Name: E ka i
Character's Name: Sawajiri Erika
Character's IJ: [info]angelinthedark
Nationality: Japanese
What are they from? Actress/singer

Human/Mutant/Vampire: human
Ability: n/a
Background: Sawajiri Erika is an orphan, she has no idea who her parents are, or where she is originally from, bouncing from foster home to foster home, and never quite fitting in. She escaped the system and took to the streets; her frail demeanor and delicate features hid her smarts and her will to fight. In Utah she was picked up by a man named Cross-- he fed her, clothed her, gave her a place to live, and wanted nothing in return except for her to study extensively in martial arts and weaponry, though Erika at first did not know whatever for.

Years in training has taught her to be quite the fighter. Quick and cunning, her kills are quiet and efficient, and she was taught never to show mercy or emotion. On her 21st birthday, Cross finally revealed the reason why he had taught her to be a hunter. He had been bitten by what appeared to be a vampire, leading him into bloodlust, causing him to lose his wife and son. With still no answers to any of the burning questions he was left with, he picked Erika up as a surrogate daughter, honed her to defend herself from these "superhumans", and tasked her to find him answers as to what caused this baffling "disease".

Cross and Erika have recently moved into the Bohemian East Village of New York City, where Cross believes his sire had originated from. Erika serves as his errand girl, buying him quarts of blood for his thirst, and continuing her studies in martial arts and the origin of the disease.

In terms of personality, Erika is snarky to the point of being bitchy, hardened by the world and tough times. Sharply witty and sarcastic, she can take most anyone in a fight even though she doesn't look it, and has mastered a variety of weapons including a sniper rifle and a crossbow. She keeps to herself and is suspicious of strangers, but only because Cross taught her to be distrustful. Cross has enrolled her in a local community college as a 'cover', but she has been thoroughly home-schooled and can read Latin, French and Hebrew.

Preferred RP Style: paragraph over IJ, or over IM.
Anything Else: Tali said she doesn't want me. D:
