Human/Mutant/Vampire: Human Background:Stephanie’s life started in a painful way for her mother, HaNa. Her father was on a trip to Korea where he met Stephanie’s mother for the first time. Mistaking lust for love her mother was quickly drawn to her father, it wasn’t long before she became aware she was pregnant. When it became aware to her mother’s parents of this, they felt betrayed by their daughter and she was disowned. It made HaNa sad, but Stephanie’s father promised her a new life in America, and she without hesitation accepted.
There was a quiet ceremony when HaNa was five months pregnant with Stephanie. She still didn’t find kindness in America, though her husband was nice to her, his family didn’t find her at all attractive, and made fun of her English. HaNa tried desperately for their approval even naming her daughter after her husband’s mother. It didn’t work though, bother HaNa and Stephanie were treated badly but his family, and as time moved on slowly did he. Stephanie was two when he filed for a divorce.
HaNa was surprised, but entirely shocked by this action. He showed no interest in keep Stephanie and so HaNa was now forced to raise a child on her own, and the divorce left her with little. It was when she had hit rock bottom that a small ray of light shown, a co-worker was speaking of new job with better pay. Desperate for something to look forward to HaNa followed her co-worker, but her English wasn’t good enough for the job, however a Korean native, supervisor took pity on HaNa’s situation and gave her a job in the mail room that paid twice what she had previously been making.
Things looked a little better for her and her daughter, the child-support even kicked in shortly after. But all this happened long before Stephanie was even aware of her surroundings. In school Stephanie excelled in math and other departments, but her English wasn’t perfect, and nether was her Korean. At age twelve while at park with some of her friends she was scouted by a modeling agency. She didn’t know how to respond at first, but got lucky and the man turned out to be legitimate.
Stephanie appeared in a couple of TV commercials and did a few small magazine ads. The fire for it when down a little, but with the money she earned she used to take dancing lessons, something she was passionate about for years but never had the money to do. Between school and dance Stephanie was busy, too busy to notice her mother finding a new love. Two years passed and Stephanie had a new stepfather, who was nice but he still didn’t set right with her. She ignored him as best she could and continued with what she did best. Her dancing had improved more then even she could have hoped.
The year following, Stephanie was casted in a play, and couldn’t been more excited. But her excitement about her achievement was quickly demolished when she arrived home to find her stepfather beating her mother. She protested her mother she leave him, but she refused and made excesses for his actions. Her liking of her stepfather grew less with each passing day. She continued with her studies, but the stress at home and the stress with dancing finally took its toll and she dropped out. All it really did was make her stepfather start insulting her intellect. Stephanie didn’t like being sassed however and responded rudely, resulting in a kick in her back.
Stephanie told her mother what her stepfather had done, but once again she defended his actions. Stephanie wasn’t like her mother though, when it became clear her mother wasn’t going to do anything about it she called her father. She explained her situation, and told him she’d do whatever it took to live with him. Remarried with two kids, he agreed to let her move in if she’d return back to school, so she did. More timed passed, and living with her father her stress level went down, and her grades seemed to improve. What was most exciting for her was she was started to get recognized as a dancer.
Stephanie finished school with the rest of her class and became a full time dancer. It also reopened the door to modeling which she does from time to time. When she turned nineteen her mother begged her to come home, but she refused to do so, since she was still married to her stepfather, six months later her mother was admitted into the hospital with trauma to her head and face. Stephanie was called, and before she made it to the hospital her mother passed away. She didn’t have time to mourn but found some closer when her stepfather was arrested and charged with murder.
Stephanie’s life only became busier as her career blossomed, she found a new respect for modeling that she hadn’t when she was younger, and started to model more then dance. She kept her bedroom at her dad’s since he didn’t seem to even notice when she was there, and Stephanie just saw it as free rent. Now twenty Stephanie is looking for something else to do with her life, besides modeling and dancing, although she’ll never admit it.
