"What, I just can't spend time with you because I feel like it?" Christien snapped. A date? That word made his facial expression darken, as much as he tried to appear pleasant about this conversation. He did want his sister to be happy but it was hard when he, himself, was hardly the same.
"Maybe I don't want a single freaking thing from you other than to just not be so alone," Christien hissed as he went into the kitchen, slamming the door open on his way in. It slapped against the wall. "Stuck in this damn circus and I don't know a single person. NO ONE speaks French and they all look at me like I'm a freaking idiot when I struggle with speaking English. Then you just start..." Talking to people? Enjoying life? Christien did not want to send darts her way, so he dropped his sentence and went over to the fridge where he fetched a soda.
"I'm sorry," Christien mumbled as he looked in the fridge, his tone less frustrated. "Go on your date and have fun."
