He liked that she was asking him questions now. It was good to hear and he liked when she spoke. “I did. Saw a party, saw some clothes, was lucky something in that bunch fit me. Figured I’d come check it out, since I haven’t really met a lot of people in this place yet. But now I’ve met you, which is definitely good.”
That was a good sign wasn't it? That he'd one alone. It meant she wasn't stalking someone's boyfriend. She nodded, taking a sip of her drink, not looking at him. She should probably ask another question, but not sure what to say.
He sipped at his wine as he looked her way, smiling a little more. “You said you were here by yourself?” He asked, watching her closely to see if that meant that she just wasn’t here with a date or if she was here all alone.
"No," Marie said, jumping on that quickly, looking for Nora and seeing her dancing with some handsome guy. "My sister." She pointed Nora out then regretted it. Nora was prettier and Rick was bound to turn his attentions there. She'd ruined it before it started.
Rick glanced up to see her sister but didn't linger there longer than anything normal. Then he looked back at Marie again. "Well we could go show them up on that dance floor. They'd probably never expect Thriller at a party like this."
Marie's eyes went wide behind her mask. She couldn't do that. No way. Not with him. "I...um...I'm...can't." Her face was hot pink, not sure what to do with herself.
Rick laughed a little and it was full of mirth. "It's ok, we don't have to. I'd definitely embarrass you. Why don't we just sit, enjoy not being alone?" He asked, smiling her way. "We don't even have to talk."
She glanced at him then nodded. "Quiet is nice." She didn't think he'd say that with his smile and laugh, but it instantly made her relax, feeling like she could definitely handle just sitting quietly with him.
Rick nodded a little. "Quiet is nice," He said, looking back out over the dance floor. "Not usually quiet. I could use being quiet more often..." He said, though he grinned again. "See? Still talking.?
Marie looked at him again then blushed more before she managed to say the words she thought of instantly. "You talking is fine." She liked him talking. Especially to her. She just wasn't sure how to talk back without winding up telling him how perfect of a human being he was.
Gabe groaned, gripping her hard. This was what me missed. It wasn't something he'd experienced in real life in too long and as weird as all of it was, it felt too damn good not too work harder against her, needing to get there.
Rick looked her way again. "Oh, ok. Well, what can I talk about, then. Construction, I guess, but that can't be a fun thing to listen to. Unless you're in need of something built for you. Are you?"
