Daryn didn't feel like she really had a home anywhere, to be honest. There was nothing waiting for her back in Seattle, her parents moved away when they retired and she had only heard from them on holidays before. Since moving to the Island, she'd only heard from the once, when she first arrived. Her twin, well, they hadn't spoken in years. The last time she heard her sister's voice was just before Erik arrived on the Island. Before that, she couldn't remember they last time they'd spent time together or had any sort of real communication. Anyone she had any sort of connection to was here on the island, and Erik was the only one she had consistent contact with.
She nodded in silence to Julie's words about living life, a tiny, sad smile crossing her face briefly. The girl had a very good point. But Daryn just wasn't the type to sit back and watch innocent people be literally and figuratively crushed for their differences. She hoped that Julie just hadn't been exposed to that darker side of life on Destruction. "I suppose you're right. But, I still like to hold out for Hope." She glanced away out the window, sure that Julie wouldn't understand the double meaning in her words.
